February 2016 Winners

With such a lot of lovely entries and only a few of us able to vote it has been a tough one to come up with our top three - but we have managed it!

We ruled out anyone (for voting purposes, although it is lovely that you entered) who had used extra colour excessively, as it was a colour combo challenge, but we still had plenty of entries who managed to give us red or pink with black and white, well done all of you!

First of all I would like to thank our very generous sponsor:

Who provided the team with two great files to showcase to you.

Now for our top three!

In first place we have Liz M with a gorgeous grungy Little Red Riding Hood.

Congratulations Liz, you have won 3 sets of your choice from The Cutting Cafe.

In second place we have Carol G with a fabulous Moo card!

Congratulations Carol, you have won 2 sets of your choice from The Cutting Cafe

In third place we have Crafty Girl with a very elegant card.

Congratulations CG, you have won one set of your choice from The Cutting Cafe.

Well done all, please email Cazzy with your choice of file and she will send you a personalised winner's badge. We would love you to be our Guest Designers in May, I hope you will all say yes!

Don't forget we are looking for more Quirky people to join our happy team, either for a 2 month guest spot or indefinitely. If you are interested please contact me for details.

Thank you to everyone who entered, and don't forget to check back later today to find out about our new challenge!

February 2016 midway reminder and DT call.

Unfortunately Nana Connie has broken bones in her hand and can't create the reminder post, in fact there is a lot of it about - my son broke his toe recently, my nephew got hit by a car and broke his ankle....... but on the team we have problems too, Marg is poorly with a chest infection, Lynne left with health issues, as you may know, and we are sad to tell you that Tracy is leaving us this month due to other commitments taking over her time.
Anyway we wish all the team members with health problems (and all of you too) all the best for a speedy recovery - lots of hugs to you all!

If we haven't commented on your entry I apologise, with only a couple of us able to (and I have a lot on my plate right now as well as the admin to do), please forgive us. Once we are a fully functioning and fully staffed team things will get back to our normal standard.

So as well as a reminder post, with less that usual examples from the team, this is a DT call.

We really need at least two more team members, if you think that could be you please contact me by email or contact form, email link and form can be found in the sidebar.

We are sponsored by a very generous sponsor The Cutting Cafe for our February challenge.

They are generously providing the following prizes:

1st Prize:  3 sets from Cutting Cafe
2nd Prize:  2 sets from Cutting Cafe
3rd Prize:  1 set from Cutting Cafe

The images and (cutting files in various formats) files kindly supplied to the Design Team by The Cutting Cafe are:

Now for some great inspiration from the team.

Patacake Pat.

I used both the Bendi Card Templates and the Wheelbarrow set on my PINK with Black & white card.

I have used the Bendi Card cutting file and the Wheelbarrow digi from the Cutting Cafe to make my Red with Black & White card.  I coloured the card and images with distress inks and glaze gelly roll pens.

Cazzy and Marg will be along later.

Challenge #2 - Let's Quirky Use Red OR Pink + Black AND White

Welcome to the February challenge here at Quirky Crafts!  Remember, all our challenges will begin on the first Sunday in the month and end on the 28th day of that month.  We will also publish a reminder on the third Sunday of each month.   We have a new theme this month:  Let's Quirky use Red OR Pink + black and white.  How easy is that?

This month, we have "The Cutting Cafe" as our fantastic sponsor and they generously supplied digis and .svg files to the DT.

They are generously providing the following prizes:

1st Prize:  3 sets from Cutting Cafe
2nd Prize:  2 sets from Cutting Cafe
3rd Prize:  1 set from Cutting Cafe

The images and .svg files kindly supplied to the Design Team by The Cutting Cafe are:

Here's some great inspiration from the team.

Marg using Wheelbarrow Deliveries

I decided to use the Wheelbarrow Deliveries as an Easter card project, which
has been made for a friend's young daughter, hence the pastel colours.
I coloured the digis using Harmony Alcohol Markers.  I cut away as
much of the white paper as I could and then stuck the image
to the pale green, spotty, card topper and stuck that to the
card base with foam tape.  The ribbons are both double-bowed and I also added a 3-layer flower
that was part of a packet that I brought from a local bargain shop that
sells mainly books & art stuff for all ages.

NanaConnie
using Wheelbarrow Deliveries
with hearts

I used the basic wheelbarrow, colored it with ProMarkers, then die cut it.  I fussy cut the hearts and added them to the wheelbarrow (since I don't have anything that uses .svg files.)   I also fussy cut and added the wheel which has a heart on it.  The black scalloped circle is also a die cut, as is the large heart with the leaves and flowers on it.  I love that these Cutting Cafe files can be used either with a machine or by fussy cutting!

Patacake
using Bendi Card Template

Using The Cutting Cafe's Bendi Card Templates made creating this card a breeze.  I've always wanted to try this type of card and now I have lots of differently styled cutting files/templates, all thanks to The Cutting Cafe.  I chose to use PINK with White and Black, and colored up a digi image from Ike's Art for a cute Mother's Day card.

                                                                           Tracy
                                                            using Wheelbarrow Deliveries
I have used Wheelbarrow Deliveries to make a mini easel.  I couldn't decide which delivery to pick for my wheelbarrow so I used 4 that suited the colour theme.  I have used Sakura pens to colour the image and mounted the strawberries and apples on some black card and 3D foam pads to create a stopper.

Cazzy's away on a much needed break and will join us when she returns in a few days!

To see who won the last challenge, see the previous post below this one.  Any crafty project is acceptable as usual.  Important: BEFORE you link up, please add a link to the Quirky Crafts Challenges blog (http://quirkycrafts.blogspot.com - the blog, not this post) to your post or you will not be able to enter.  When you have done this, you can go ahead and add a link to your blog post or your online photo gallery, SCS, etc., using the button or link below.  If you don't have a blog (or inlinkz will not accept your non-blog link), you can email your entry to us via the sidebar link. Julia made a sassy shoe card.

DESIGN TEAM

For my second project, I choose "Shirt and tie" trying to make some Father´s Day cards in advance; and "Shirt and Tie Shaped Card" cutting file provided by our sponsor, was just perfect for that. Of course my "Gentlemen Owls" pattern paper couldn´t be any better.

Hope you are enjoying this challenge as I'm. This week I would like to share this cute card for a Little Baby Boy using the Shirt and Tie Shaped Card from our amazing sponsor The Cutting Cafe.

I finally this is my shirt versión.

For this week I chose the High Heel Shoes Shaped Cards from our sponsor.

KEMLY

In this week, I made a card with file "Shirt and Tie Shaped Card". From our sponsor,

I used the Tie Shaped Card and I used the sentiment for A great Dad.

Cazzy
Shirts again - I love making these shirt cards! This time one is very bright, both are for Dad's birthdays. I added faux stitching and got a little creative with the pocket handkerchief on the striped one.

I also tried a shoe, but I don't think I did it well - it could be better, note to self: next time read the guide first!
I'm sneaking in another shirt, one I had nearly made then misplaced!
