May 2017 - Going For A Song- Winners Post

We had some lovely entries to my choice of challenge. When, as a design team member, you are asked to set a theme there is always the worry that no one will think it is a good theme and that no one will bother to enter. So THANK YOU to every one of you who took the time, much appreciated.

Well the team have all looked at your entries and we have cast our votes. The results are as follows:-

First Place is.....entry number 10 from Jenny L with this gorgeous retro card and you can see which song it is inspired by so no need to tell you again! It has so many elements and really fits the challenge theme perfectly!

Congratulations Jenny, you have won the $15 voucher for Ike's Arts.

Challenge 25- A Christmas Tag

This will be the last time I get to set a challenge, certainly for the foreseeable future, as I am leaving the design team at the end of the current year due to commitments elsewhere. Setting up a business is not easy and I am finding I have no time to myself any more. Something has to give, at least for the time being, but I may return in the future if the girls will have me back.

I digress...back to the challenge. We are all really busy this time of year, so I wanted to make my last challenge something that we would be all doing anyway, making tags for our loved ones gifts. My Children are 21 and 17 now, but come Christmas they are back to ten years old, and they still love the presents, cards and gifts whether they are home made or not. There main present will be bearing these tags this year.

Our challenge is sponsored by Paper Pretties.

Paper Pretties will be giving the maker of the best tag , as judged by the Design Team, 6 digi images of your choice.
We are also sponsored by Dustin Pike of Doodle Dragons Studios

Doodle Dragons Studios are offering a second prize of $10 worth of digital images of your choice.

So that is it in a nutshell....show us your tags for a chance to win some great images.

Here are our offerings for this challenge:-

Guest Designer Bettina

Bettina used two images from Doodle Dragon Studios, and she used Kraft card to make her fabulous tags, and patterned papers all punched with MS punches. She also die cut star banners and has used Distress Inks and Ice Diamond Stickles. The first tag also has flocking "snow". Both images are coloured with Promarkers.

I made a set of three tags with Paper Pretties images, Cocoa, Claus and Oh Tiny Tree, the tags were cut with the eCraft, and I cut different sizes so I could make small tags to bundle together and use some of the sentiments and Claus's bone that come with the images. All coloured with Promarkers, lots of Crafty Ribbon's ribbons used as you can see, and some Ice Stickles. I also used Nestabilties Long Rectangles and the matching scalloped set. Tags edged with Krylon gold leaf pen. Oh boy, laying them down like that it looks like the cloths in the mini photo studio could do with ironing!

Doodle Dragon tags will follow a bit later!
Lyn - will be along later....
Yes...Here I am...only a week late! I've used some of  Dustin's pre-coloured Santa's, who's just flying in, hopefully with some pressies and a Christmas Bear!
I have gone for some very quick and simple tags to add to my Christmas presents, so they are all one layer, printed out on the printer, cut to size, coloured with promarkers and then edged with distress inks, and finished off with Christmas ribbon which was curled using scissors. This first set of three used the Paper Pretties images 'wrapped up Rudolph', 'Oh tiny tree' and 'Claus'.  The sentiment was also from Paper Pretties, and round the edge I stamped some Holly leaves (a freebie stamp from a magazine).
The second set were made in exactly the same way using Doodle Dragon Studio images coloured with promarkers and highlighted using pearlescent glue.  The blue distress ink was highlighted with silver snowflake stamps (Hero Arts) and edged with silver ink (not sure how well the silver shows up in this photo mind you!).

I used Wrapped Up Rudolph from Paper Pretties and their Wrapped and Ready sentiment to make my tags.  The Reindeer has been coloured with promarkers and decoupaged to make his nose HUGE! He looks so cute.

Challenge 21 -Magical Moments (must have magical creatures, silver, stars and glitter or sparkle).

My Challenge this time (Diane) although this theme was more of a joint choice really. Heading into Autumn at a rate of knots with all the magic and myth of Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner everyone is thinking Magical thoughts......so that is what I want to see this time. you can make anything, not just cards, in fact we quite like to see different projects. Whatever you decide to enter must have something magical- so I am thinking Fairies, Wizards, any Magical Creatures etc and I also want to see Stars, Glitter and Silver on your entries. The winning entry must fulfil all these conditions. If you miss something off your entry will not be included in the vote. Goodness I sound very strict don't I? (I am not really, but don't tell anyone!)
Our challenge this week is sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. They are very kindly providing a prize for the winner of this challenge as decided by the Design Team.....and the prize is a $10 voucher to spend in the store.

So let us give you some inspiration here.....

First our Guest Designers:

Desire used Room for Two image for her classy stepper card which has lots of sparkle with the gems and silver and unusual stars!
This is an angled view to show the depth of the card and the detail.

Crafty Girl used Christmas Fairy on her magical Christmas decoration.

Here is a close up of the Christmas Fairy. For more images and details of this and other great projects visit Crafty Girl's blog.

I must apologise for the image, I have tried all sorts! I found some silver inkjet film in the drawer and thought perfect, and I didn't even think about it being so reflective so you can see the inside of my light box in the background!  I printed Fairy Moon on to the film, and cut it out, matted it on black glitter paper and holographic silver star card. I heat embossed some star brads with silver tinsel glitter and I added clear plastic letters to spell Wish. I think it is a pretty Christmas card. Oh and I glazed the image to prevent damage, more about that on my blog!

Lyn will possibly join us later, she has had a bereavement in the family and is, quite rightly, more concerned with that right now. We send you our hugs and Support Lyn.....
Lyn
(Copied from Lyn's blog by Cazzy, see blog for much more).
Here's my first card. I've used one of my favourite Stitchy Bear images, The SteamPunk Fairy. I've coloured her with Promarkers, used my Memory Die-cut, Pinkpetticoat starry papers, black and silver Card Candi, purple gems, micro glitter, Stickles glitter on the edges of the black and purple ribbons, black card and silver miri card!

For my second card, I've used a wizard cat from Stitchy bears Jacare's Halloween Bundle. I'm really not too happy with the way this one turned out! Everything that could go wrong, went wrong!  (see blog for details).
Caro
My first entry is an ATC made using the Spooky Owl from our sponsors. I coloured the background to create a halo round the moon by using distress inks (faded jeans and dusty concord), then added extra tree branches and birds using Lavinia stamps.  Finally I finished it off with a silver glittery star.
My second entry uses the Fairy moon digital stamp from our sponsors.  I decided to keep to a black, white and pink colour scheme. To make the main image 'pop' I added pink and silver pearlescent glue to the moon and stars and then glitter glue to the fairy's hair.  I used my cuttlebug to die cut and emboss round the image as well as embossing the background before embellishing with pink glittery gems in the corners.

Stars, Glitter and Silver all over this one! I decided to make something other than a card for a change. Using stamps from Stitchy Bear I have made a Halloween treat holder. Bit tricky to photograph, but the inside is all patterned too.

Now it's your turn......

Please add a link to your blog post (not your blog) using the biggest blue froggy at the top of the collection, the other one (at the bottom) doesn't do anything that we can tell, and please comment after you have linked. Don't forget to mention Quirky and add a link back to here (please read the rules and if you realised you haven't followed the rules and won't be included in the top three, and you want your entry removed to try again - please email us using the link in the side bar).

If you can't see the froggy please refresh your screen.
