May 2016 Midway Reminder - April Showers bring Quirky May flowers!

It's reminder time for our last challenge for a few months, and it's all about flowers, following our Quirky April furry showers!

This is a very popular challenge and you hardly need a reminder!

Also if you are interested in joining the DT later in the year when we hope to resume challenges, please contact me at any time during the next few months.

Our wonderful sponsors for this challenge are:

I just realised I forgot to tell you about the amazing prizes which are:
Ist prize Ike's Art $15 worth of digis of choice
, 2nd Prize Delicious Doodles 4 digis of choice,
3rd prize Bloobel Stamps 3 digis of choice

Now for some inspiration from the team:

A truly beautiful card by Elena using Rosalie from Delicious Doodles. Superb colouring Elena!

I colored my image with Copics, then fussy-cut her and adhered her to my vivid purple paper.
I cut  my pattered paper to the same size as Lulu's Peekaboo circle and now it looks like
she's peeking out of a purple room.
Besides the tiny flowers on my patterned paper, I lined the rim of Lulu's window with jewelled flowers. staying with the flowers theme of this challenge, my sentiment inside reads:
"May your day bloom with wonderful surprises".

Peekaboo Lulu

I colored Daisies & Butterfly Frame from Delicious Doodles with Copics.
Using Photoshop, I used the image to frame a pic of my daughter,
using digital elements and papers to complete my layout.

Nana Connie is unwell and will join us in a few days.

Cazzy
Sorry I'm late! Here is my first card using a gorgeous image from Ike's Art called Greek Window. I have never been to Greece, and would love to visit one day! I googled Greek houses to try and get the colours right.
I will be back with a Bloobel Stamps card next.

Marg

This is my take on Flower Square by Ike's Art
coloured using Sakura Gelly Roll glitter pens,
mounted onto raspberry card, black card, matt gold paper,
added lace and a 6x6 white linen effect card base.
Glitzy Babe sentiment was an afterthought.

April 2016 Quirky Raining Cats and Dogs Challenge - DT Call still on.

Welcome back to another challenge at Quirky Crafts. Thank you to all that entered in our last challenge, they were all fabulous. Let's see if we can get more entries than March. Don't forget that you can enter up to 3 times, but it must still follow the theme and be a new make this month.

The new challenge, for April, I hope, will be as popular and it's chosen by me, Marg, DT member.

The theme is: Quirky Raining Cats and Dogs, and I would like to see any hand made project which has dogs, cats or both on it. In other words you can interpret the theme however you want as long as it has a cat or dog or both on it, stamped, digi, drawn, painted, sewn knitted or crocheted!

Our fabulous sponsor this month is the wonderful:

All of their fantastic images are available in digital form or real rubber stamps, mounted or unmounted or just on cling rubber. The cling rubber version has the image on the back so you can see what you are stamping!

 Crackerbox Palace Website

The prizes are:
For our first place winner - 3 digis of your choice.
For our second place winner - 2 digis of your choice.
for our third place winner - 1 digi of your choice.

Cazzy said we don't have any guests this month, and none of last months (Feb) winners have contacted her to collect their badges or prizes. In fact some of January winners haven't contacted her to collect their prizes! Surprised? We are, who doesn't want to collect the great prizes we have?

So here is some inspiration from the team:

This is very CAS.  I printed the image twice; once directly onto the kraft card front along with the sentiment and a second time onto white paper.  I fussy cut the white image and layered it onto the card front right over the image printed there.   I also colored the white areas with a gel pen and chalk.  The lace and bow were added and it was complete.  :-D

I created my card using "Peeking Cat" from Crackerbox Palace,
embellishing with ribbon, crocheted flower and jeweled flourishes.
Don't you love my made up sentiment?!

I made an easel card with Crackerbox Palace's "Spot the Dog".
Above is the card closed,
and below is the card open with my punchline.

using Cat and Dog

I have made this card in the shape of an easel card, which does fold
down flat for posting. I decided not to colour the digi in as I thought
it looked really nice in black & white. As I wanted to use orange with
the cream card.  the splash of blue ribbon has silver paw prints
printed on it. The finishing touch was the sentiment, Ruff Day from
Crackerbox Palace as they have a good selection to match.

Cazzy
using Peeking Cat
This is a card from 2013, which is cheating a little but I am really unwell and have been in bed all week with a nasty virus so I hope I am forgiven. I have also had the folder with my blog photos get corrupted, hope the hard drive isn't about to pack up, and I had to search my blog to find this photo! I will make something new for the reminder, at least one thing!
I have the rubber stamp of Peeking cat which is what I used to make this card, I wanted the cat to be peeking out of a present, so I tried to make it look like that with the ribbons.

Sadly Kelly Patricia is unable to join us this month as planned, she has had to give up crafting for health reasons. We wish her all the best for the future.

So we are still looking for some Quirky team mates - if you are interested in joining us for just one challenge, more than one challenge or permanently please contact Cazzy for details.

To see who won the last challenge see the previous post below this one. {add link to winner's post on the word previous post} Any crafty project is acceptable as usual. March 2016 Challenge reminder: Quirky masculine with ribbon or twine.

Here we are again, it's reminder time for the March challenge which is Quirky Masculine with ribbon or twine.

Also don't forget we want some more DT members here at Quirky, please contact me if you want to know more! We also could do with some 2 month guests.

Here's a reminder of our lovely sponsors:

Who are providing our first place winner with a £10 voucher to spend on gorgeous ribbons.

Our second place winner can choose 7 digis from Bugaboo.

and finally a new sponsor for this year, we would like to welcome the very Quirky:

Our third place winner will be able to choose 3 digi images from SLS lines.

Now for some more inspiration from the team:

Patacake

I used Bugaboo's "Har Repotter the chosen one" on a birthday card. My organza ribbons  are green and purple and decorate the corners of my card.

My second card, using SLS Lines Math Geek.

I created a boomark for hubby today using SLS Lines Book Lover
on a "foldover" bookmark. Colored with Copics and fussy-cut, my sentiment is from Pinterest.
I used patterned ribbon on the edge and added Copic-colored hearts to pull the trim into the rest of the color scheme.
Below, she's peeking out over the book to mark hubbys place. He laughs every time he uses it. He says it reminds him of the "fussy librarian" who used to shush him when he was in the stacks.

Well Pat did well didn't she, how do I follow that? At least I got here in time for a change!
I used a cute cowboy digi from Bugaboo called Wee Ones Cowboy - Horseshoe, together with some DCWV for the boys paper, some horse ribbon, which is exclusive to Crafty Ribbons and comes in several colours and different animal silhouettes - even dinosaurs, and some twine on which is knotted a horseshoe charm.

My card using Guy - Car Keys by Bugaboo
Cars & Trucks 15mm (Exclusive to Crafty Ribbons)
& pale blue bakers twine
to follow the theme of Masculine with ribbon or twine.

I hope you are enjoying our challenge and will play along too!

March 2016 Challenge: Quirky Masculine with ribbon or twine - and DT call

Welcome back to Quirky for another challenge. We had some great entries for our last challenge, I think it was very popular and our top three are published in the post below this one. I hope you like the new challenge as much.

The challenge for March is Quirky Masculine with ribbon or twine, let's see cards for a man or boy, cards with a digi of a man on them, and don't forget that ribbon or twine MUST be included if you want a chance of being in the top three!

We have three wonderful sponsors for this challenge and they are:

Who are providing our first place winner with a £10 voucher to spend on gorgeous ribbons.

Our second place winner can choose 7 digis from Bugaboo.

and finally a new sponsor for this year, we would like to welcome the very Quirky:

Our third place winner will be able to choose 3 digi images from SLS lines.

As you know a couple of our Design Team members have had to leave us already, and the rest are suffering from ailments but we have recruited a new team mate and we want to give a big welcome to Kelly Patricia! Unfortunately Kelly has dislocated her wrist (is Quirky cursed?) so will be unable to make anything this month, but you can look forward to seeing her work next month!

Kelly will introduce herself properly to you soon!

We are still looking for at least one person to join us on the Quirky side! If you think it could be you please contact me for details.

Now for some inspiration, first of all from our Guest Designers:

Hi, my name is Beate alias Stempelomi . I’m an “over fifty” Mum of 3 grown-up children, wife of a lovely husband and dog owner of 2 wonderful dogs. We live all together in our house in the west of Germany near the state border to the Netherlands. Since 2005, my hobby is to make/stamp cards and I love it! I’m proud to be a Guest Designer in this "Quirkycrafts challenge" and wish you good luck! Enjoy it! Hugs, Beate
For my card I used the Bugaboo stamp from my stock Jesse Bear Angel - stars.

Thank you Beate, I love your baby boy card!

Rae Ann used the very funny Gus Birthday - optional digi from Bugaboo, and used twine on her lovely card.

Now some inspiration from the Design Team:

Pat using "akv boy sitter with dog" from Bugaboo on a digital birthday card. Her ribbon is tied ito bows and adorn the dog bones along the bottom.
AND
Pat using Math Geek from SLS Lines on another birthday card. The inside reads: You can't be 29 AGAIN!! Ribbon is use as a strip behind her sentiment.

Cazzy

Phew, here at last. Sorry I'm late - I've had a lot to do.
This fierce chap caught my eye, and I keep thinking he is a Viking and I never noticed he was wearing modern boots until I got colouring! Anyway he isn't a Viking, so that is alright then! He is from SLS Lines and is a Dwarf Axe Warrior! My silver and gold ribbon was from one of the bargain £1 bags from Crafty Ribbons, I thought it picked out the gold and silver from the image (was still thinking Vikings and Viking gold I have to admit).

I hope to sneak back in with my Bugaboo project later on.

Marg

The ribbon essential is holding the metal skull charm on. The treasure map
was downloaded from Google and labeled for Reuse which is why I have used it.
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment, skull & backing card behind with the "ocean waves" on it are all from my own stash. I coloured the digi with Harmony alcoholic marker pens. I will be using this fun digi again for my grandsons/friends sons cards as its a wonderful image to colour and reminds me of Captain Pugwash!! (Of which some people will remember from the 1970's childrens tv shows).

and

who reminds me of both of my grandsons, but mainly the eldest one as he sits in a chair to play but the youngest one sits on the floor. Anyway, I used both a lace ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and pieces of unthreaded hessian from my own stash.
The digi, is amazing for any playstation/xbox lads birthday cards. I staged it on my card to be in his bedroom on the console, colouring with Harmony marker pens & Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic pens. Everything else on the card is from my own stash, inc the base card from Papermill Direct.

Challenge #2 - Let's Quirky Use Red OR Pink + Black AND White

Welcome to the February challenge here at Quirky Crafts!  Remember, all our challenges will begin on the first Sunday in the month and end on the 28th day of that month.  We will also publish a reminder on the third Sunday of each month.   We have a new theme this month:  Let's Quirky use Red OR Pink + black and white.  How easy is that?

This month, we have "The Cutting Cafe" as our fantastic sponsor and they generously supplied digis and .svg files to the DT.

They are generously providing the following prizes:

1st Prize:  3 sets from Cutting Cafe
2nd Prize:  2 sets from Cutting Cafe
3rd Prize:  1 set from Cutting Cafe

The images and .svg files kindly supplied to the Design Team by The Cutting Cafe are:

Here's some great inspiration from the team.

Marg using Wheelbarrow Deliveries

I decided to use the Wheelbarrow Deliveries as an Easter card project, which
has been made for a friend's young daughter, hence the pastel colours.
I coloured the digis using Harmony Alcohol Markers.  I cut away as
much of the white paper as I could and then stuck the image
to the pale green, spotty, card topper and stuck that to the
card base with foam tape.  The ribbons are both double-bowed and I also added a 3-layer flower
that was part of a packet that I brought from a local bargain shop that
sells mainly books & art stuff for all ages.

NanaConnie
using Wheelbarrow Deliveries
with hearts

I used the basic wheelbarrow, colored it with ProMarkers, then die cut it.  I fussy cut the hearts and added them to the wheelbarrow (since I don't have anything that uses .svg files.)   I also fussy cut and added the wheel which has a heart on it.  The black scalloped circle is also a die cut, as is the large heart with the leaves and flowers on it.  I love that these Cutting Cafe files can be used either with a machine or by fussy cutting!

Patacake
using Bendi Card Template

Using The Cutting Cafe's Bendi Card Templates made creating this card a breeze.  I've always wanted to try this type of card and now I have lots of differently styled cutting files/templates, all thanks to The Cutting Cafe.  I chose to use PINK with White and Black, and colored up a digi image from Ike's Art for a cute Mother's Day card.

                                                                           Tracy
                                                            using Wheelbarrow Deliveries
I have used Wheelbarrow Deliveries to make a mini easel.  I couldn't decide which delivery to pick for my wheelbarrow so I used 4 that suited the colour theme.  I have used Sakura pens to colour the image and mounted the strawberries and apples on some black card and 3D foam pads to create a stopper.

Cazzy's away on a much needed break and will join us when she returns in a few days!

To see who won the last challenge, see the previous post below this one.  Any crafty project is acceptable as usual.  Important: BEFORE you link up, please add a link to the Quirky Crafts Challenges blog (http://quirkycrafts.blogspot.com - the blog, not this post) to your post or you will not be able to enter.  When you have done this, you can go ahead and add a link to your blog post or your online photo gallery, SCS, etc., using the button or link below.  If you don't have a blog (or inlinkz will not accept your non-blog link), you can email your entry to us via the sidebar link. Challenge #1 2016 Let's Quirky Celebrate.

Welcome back to Quirky Crafts and our first monthly challenge. All challenges will begin on the first Sunday in the month and end on the 28th day of that month. We will also publish a reminder on the third Sunday of each month.

We have a lot to celebrate, continuing the Quirky challenges (and it was touch and go at the end of last year), a brand new Quirky team, a couple of new sponsors and the beginning of 2016 - Happy New Year to you all.

Therefore my challenge is called Let's Quirky Celebrate, and I want to see you play along with projects that include the word Celebrate or Celebration, and it can be any kind of celebration you like, and any kind of hand made project.

We are sponsored by the wonderful Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps who are providing all three prizes to our winners.

Who are generously providing the following prizes:

1st prize of 3 images of choice from the whole of the store
2nd prize Any 3 of the images used by the DT
3rd prize any 2 of the DT´s chosen images - listed below

The images kindly supplied to the Design Team by Stitchy Bear are:

CraftyGirl Creations

BBKakes

Floppy Latte Designs

Stitchy Stamps

My Heart Pieces

Beary Dust

Here is some inspiration from our talented Design Team:

Cici
Our first Guest Designer of 2016

Cicci used Please Drink Responsibly on her fun card and said:
"My Name is Cecilia Gunnarsson but everyone calls me Cicci..
I live in Sweden with my 3 boys and a dog. When I dont colour :0)
 I work as a guitarteacher!
Im happy to be  at this Great challenge quirky Crafts Challenge!

HUGS Cicci Vid Pennan"

Pat

Pat using BBCakes Birthday Boy 1 to celebrate a birthday of course!

NanaConnie

I used a wonderful image from Stitchy Bear called "Lake Winter."   The background paper is made with a new set of watercolors.  Another "new" thing I'm celebrating is the Bow-It-All that Santa brought me and that double-color bow is the first one I tied with it!

Tracy

I tried to fit my card to the Celebration theme but also make it generic so it could be used for most occasions.  I have made an easel card using Wine Barrel from Stitchy Bear which I have coloured using alcohol markers.  I added clear glaze pen to the wine bottles and used Wink of Stella Violet for the glass of wine.  The congratulations sentiment is fixed to the ribbon with brads and I have adhered this to the card with foam tape to create the stopper. I have used a freebie Time to Celebrate stamp on the corner.

Made using Tying The Knot digi image from
Stitchy Bear Digi Stamps and celebrating marriage.

Lynne

Sorry, my post was a bit late as I had Shingles in and around my eye and my eyesight was minimal. With that being said . . .
I'm a big fan of anything Alice in Wonderland and what a way to celebrate almost anything - I used Crafty Girl Creations Wonderland Cake with the Cheshire Cat and his smile donning the Mad Hatter's Hat. This would be such  a fun birthday cake (P.S. Did I mention that my birthday is this month and I would like a cake "done in this style"?) and most definitely Alice in Wonderland with the "Quirky" theme!

Cazzy

Sorry I'm a little late, it has been an awful week for me! Anyway here I am at last, and I altered an empty chocolate box into a box frame and added lots of crafty bits round the BBK Craft Queen digi. I thought she was perfect to celebrate our new Quirky Team, new challenge format and all things crafty and new. I'm going to put the full details on my blog and the before photo.
Are you a craft Queen too?

Because we are now hosting challenges monthly our reminder will be in two weeks time. You have until the 28th of Jan to enter the challenge.

Any crafty project is acceptable as usual. Important: BEFORE you link up please add a link to the Quirky Crafts Challenges blog (http://quirkycrafts.blogspot.com - the blog not this post) to your post - or you will not be able to enter. When you have done this you can go ahead and add a link to your blog post or your online photo gallery, SCS etc. using the button or link below.
