2013 Chookyblues SAL finished.

Feel a little sad that the stitch a long hosted by Chookyblue is finished for the year.

This is my final project. A needle book taken from Anni Downs book Some Kind of Wonderful.

This matches the sewing bag I made for August.

Now to spend some time working on my Xmas swaps.

Friday Night sew in

Friday night the kids and I had take away. That meant more time for me to sew.

I set my machine up on the table. It won't move from here for a couple of weeks.

I started with this.

Became this.

Then this.

To become this.

I need the felt for the needles and the button then all will be complete!

It matches my sewing bag.

I then spent the rest if the night stitching More hexagon joiners.

I have these already now. And NO I didn't sew them all in ine night.

Final stitch - a - long project.

I am taking my time finishing this months task.

It is the last for the stitch-a-long. I only joined this year and have loved every minute of it.

Sunday afternoon I did some preparation work. I cut out all the pieces for the needle book.

Here is the stitchery sitting on top.  I am not sure if there is enough blue but when I join it all together I will know if I need more blue or not.

The needle book needs to be finished by the end of the month, which is approaching quickly.   Have an exciting couple of weeks planned to finish the month and cannot wait.

FNSI and August Stitch a long finish

Last night I joined a number of fellow stitchers at FNSI.

Wendy over at SUGARLANE quilts hosted this event this month.

Having spent the day in a uni lecture I decided that I needed to treat myself with some sewing.

So.....

I finished my August Stitch a long project.
The original design had some stitchery blocks on the front but I wanted to use my babushka fabric so I fussy cut the dolls. The front and back panel was ready so all I had to do was out the bag together.

I filled the bag with a scarf but didn't quite fill it so it is looks like there are tucks. There isn't really.

I did like making this bag and have fabric ready for a second one but that can wait until after the essay.

Saturday sewing. One more sleep...

Saturday I headed to Parkes for a quick trip.

Groceries all done for the week, except for the milk.

Full up at our newly built Woolworths Caltex garage.

Then headed to the shop for an afternoon of sewing.

Progress was made on my Sewing Angel Toolstore.

This is the cover.

And this is the lining.

One pocket stitched.

I also got my fabrics ready for my Stitch-a-long August project.

Here is the pattern.

These are the fabrics I bought today, a grey fabric for the gusset of the bag and purple for the lining and squares.

These fabrics combined with fabrics I already had are below.

Not sure if  I am going to fussy cut the dolls for all, or have some large squares with the stitcheries as well.

Best think about it as August is going to busy with uni unit 3 starting again.

ONE MORE SLEEP INTIL I GET TO OPEN THESE.

Chilly penguin bag finished

Okay it is only 9th July and ( happy dance) my July stitch-a-long project.

The bag is called chilly penguin because the stitchery is meant to be of a penguin.

I wanted to use the bag more often then   Christmas so I chose the boots and mice stitchery.

I have used French General fabric again. It is my favourite fabric at the movement. I have nearly used all what I have but I am sure I will find more.

Now to get organised for my Virtual sewing evening sewing BFF with Kylie.

July stitch a long

I had stitched the penguins for the bag but surprise I can't find it so.....

I am changing my mind and will be using this block.

It is not too Christmas. I have not included the baubles and feel that this bag can be used more often with this design.

Stitching all done.

Next step. Hexagons for the bag.  Job. for tonight.

Phew. Found then.

Happy dancing.

Look what I found in the pocket of my sewing bag. My pin cushions pieces.

These are now transformed into this.....

First finish for the month of July.

Very happy.

Day one...

Today was spent sewing at the local patchwork shop.
My intention was to work on my flannel quilt only after my Stucth-a-long project for May was completed.
I began sewing around ten and finished my bag around 8pm. I did stop for lunch, morning tea, trip home twice, trip down town too.

Her is my bag. I have to attach the button and make a magnetic fob which will be attached to my keys.

Photos tomorrow of the bag but here is what it looks like...

Friday Night with Friends

I have a finish for yesterday's FNwF. I finished my Bon Noel Wallhanging.

I love it and think making a new one with different stitchings.

There are some things I need to change. Like the size if the blocks, the stitching is missing! The prairie points are not quite right. But that is okay.

April stitch a long

Today I took advantage of the sale at Nellies Patchwork Shop.
There is 40% off a vast range of fabrics.

Today I bought some Christmas fabric to use for my April stitch along.

Might have to go and cut the fabric so i can sew it together over the weekend.

Fabulous weekend day two

Breakfast on the Murray river with Ange and Kylie.

Yummy : Pick Me Up Breaky Burger (egg, bacon, pesto sauce, jarls berg cheese, chutney)
Coffee.
The birdhouse is in the garden. Looks great!

Great start to the morning.

Quick trip to Aldi and then the drive to Nyah!

Surprise surprise Michelle (daisy hill quilts. blogspot.com.au)
I came to see you before you head up north to Darwin. I had been teasing Michelle and saying I wouldn't see her she had no idea. Even with all my travel details. The look in her face was priceless!

Had a fantastic day sewing with the girls. Kylie, Ange, Nat, Di, Heather, Jeanette and Nat. I finished my blocks. I also got a stash of fabric and patterns that Michelle was giving away.

I am pleased I went to see Michelle and the girls.

March Stitch-a-Long

This past weekend I began preparing for my next Stitch-a-Long project.
I cut and sewed the squares at Nellies.

When I pulled out the fabrics the ladies reallly liked the prints.  I then had to convince Shellene that yes this fabric was bought from the shop back in October.

Now to stitch the design.  I have traced the design on the back of the orange spot, though that subtlty would be nice.

This is going to be a pincushion designed by Anni Downs and found in her book Some Kind of Wonderful

Thread catcher Pin Cushion

Today I made a thread catcher just like everyone on Stitch-a-Long.

I used mums Pfaff and was able to choose a fancy stitch for the edging.  I chose some star flowers.

I love this project, quick and easy and I think I will have to make some more.

My sister and my mum have been eyeing off my thread catcher/pin cushion that the Christine gave me.

So I searched google and found this pattern.  This is Kailene's she loves dogs and is an avid cross stitcher so this will come in handy for her.  The catcher is huge! Lots of thread can be stored in there.

Mum didn't want hers so big so I tried to make it a bit differently.
Mum's was made out the same fabric I cut out for my singlets.  She is happy with the end product.

These are my first attempts and hence the stitching is not the best!

Thank goodness for air conditioners, it has been 39degres here in Canberra.  I am feeling sorry for my family and friends who are in NSW experiencing high 40s.  So glad I am not teaching those swimming lessons, the water would be too hot.

Shoe bags complete

Tick this Off - Great Start to the Year

What is the date?   Only January 4th and I am happy.

Stitch-a-Long

January's task for Chookyblue's Stitch-a-Long was a Shoe Bag designed by Anni Downs found in her book "Some Kind of Wonderful".

I found these shoe bags easy to make and they will be extremely useful.

When I packed for my month with mum I brought along my SKOW book and fabric with the plan to make the shoe bags.
At the time I didn't know that I was going to join the stitch-a-long!  Fate I would think.

I used mum's sewing machine to sew the bags together.  She has a Pfaff Creative Vision and I loved using it. I am hoping to have a go at some machine embroidery on it before I go home.

Birthday Love Stash

I will be keeping one of these bags for me and I am going to put one in my Birthday Love Stash.

Yay big tick off for

  • Birthday Love Stash
