2013 Chookyblues SAL finished.

Feel a little sad that the stitch a long hosted by Chookyblue is finished for the year.

This is my final project. A needle book taken from Anni Downs book Some Kind of Wonderful.

This matches the sewing bag I made for August.

Now to spend some time working on my Xmas swaps.

September stitch a long.

Okay.   I know.  Can't help it.

I have traced Septembers stitch a long project, the needle case. I have begun stitching it.

I am going to use my Riley Blake fabrics for this project. So it matches my bag.

Today I picked up my pavilion entry ticked for next weeks Forbes show

I am putting in four appliqué quilts, one cushion cover, my pin cushion and two bags.

Will post picks of my entries over the coming week.

Mmmm nearly complete

Stitching completed. Now ready to sew the bag up.

Just can't get a clear shot. Grrrr

A task for my Sit and Stitch weekend at Nellies.
I am also pretty excited as my good friends Kylie and Heather arrive on Friday. They are also going to see all weekend.

I also hope to sew together my flannel quilt as I need it as it is getting much cooler and a flannel quilt would be fantastic.

Shoe stuffers.

This is the first time I have made these shoe stuffers. An Anni Downs pattern from Some Kind of Wonderful. Might have to make some more for my birthday stash and maybe some for Xmas oh and some for me!

I have filled each one with a lavender bag for that added fragrance.

I also made my own covered buttons. These were given to me by Chez in last years letter F swap.

FNwF

Friday night was a very productive night

1. Finished tracing the Nine blocks for the Friendship quilt I am stitching (will post updates when I begin)

2. Finished my Stirch-a-Long March project- SKOW pin cushion

3. Traced another pin cushion design. (This will be added to my Birthday Love Stash box)

4. Traced the stitchery for my True Friends Tote bag. You may remember I gave my bag away.

5. I began stitching the pin cushion design. It is an orange background and I am using blue thread. ( I wanted to test it out so when I stitch the bag I will be right with colour choice. I think it works.)

What did you work in last night?

Go see Cheryll at Gone Stitchin' to see what other ladies sewed.
Thank you Cheryll for hosting such an amazing event.

SKOW & New project

Started working on my SKOW pin cushion stitching. I know it is early but would like to get it done.

Good news I am helping out the local patchwork by stitching blocks for a block of the month they are wanting to do. I am very excited.

March Stitch-a-Long

This past weekend I began preparing for my next Stitch-a-Long project.
I cut and sewed the squares at Nellies.

When I pulled out the fabrics the ladies reallly liked the prints.  I then had to convince Shellene that yes this fabric was bought from the shop back in October.

Now to stitch the design.  I have traced the design on the back of the orange spot, though that subtlty would be nice.

This is going to be a pincushion designed by Anni Downs and found in her book Some Kind of Wonderful

Shoe bags complete

Tick this Off - Great Start to the Year

What is the date?   Only January 4th and I am happy.

Stitch-a-Long

January's task for Chookyblue's Stitch-a-Long was a Shoe Bag designed by Anni Downs found in her book "Some Kind of Wonderful".

I found these shoe bags easy to make and they will be extremely useful.

When I packed for my month with mum I brought along my SKOW book and fabric with the plan to make the shoe bags.
At the time I didn't know that I was going to join the stitch-a-long!  Fate I would think.

I used mum's sewing machine to sew the bags together.  She has a Pfaff Creative Vision and I loved using it. I am hoping to have a go at some machine embroidery on it before I go home.

Birthday Love Stash

I will be keeping one of these bags for me and I am going to put one in my Birthday Love Stash.

Yay big tick off for

  • Birthday Love Stash
  • OPAM
  • Stitch-a-Long

Now to get ready for Friday Night with Friends. Looking forward to sewing with some of you tonight.

Shoe bags

I am loving my thread catcher and pin cushion Christine gave me for Christmas. It sits so good on the arm of the chair at mum's.

Today I began making shoe bags from Anni Downs book Some Kind of Wonderful (SKOW).

One appliqué piece is complete, with the other nearly done.
I am loving the variegated coloring.

The fabric  I have chosen was bought at Nellies Patchwork shop in Forbes. It is the same fabric I used in December so I know the shoe bags will look awesome!

Click here to see what I made back in December.

I gave one of these shoe bags away at Christmas.
I am intending on keeping one of the new bags for me and putting one in my Birthday Stash box.

My plan for tomorrow is to:
  • cut out the fabric for each bag;
  • needle turn applique the shoe pieces to the front of each bag;
  • machine sew the bags together; and
  • thread through the ribbon for the drawstring.
Hmmmmmm maybe this is way too much for one day but will see how I go.
