I am still here.

A quick update to say I am still here. The flue has knocked me around but I feel much better and getting back to normality.

I have been sewing this past week, the week before not a thing.

I have nearly finished a stictching mat by Red Brolly.

Here I was binding the bag.

I have been working with the hexagon iron on pieces by Hugs and Kisses.
This is what I have been doing.

Just need to stitch in down, add some more detail and it is done.

Today is the Forbes agricultural show but sad to say I don't have any entries. Bridie has out in three entries this year.

Scrapbook page pincushion and packet cake.

FNWF is on tonight, if I join in it will be after the show very late.

Friday night sew in

Well I was going great guns sewing hexagons together for a new pin cushion.

I was trying to make the bottom of the pincushion also with hexagons but it didn't work so I reversed sewed.

Them I ended up with the start of the base.

I now need to:
- sew more white background hexagons to the blue
- make circles out of the template plastic
- sew the base to the top
- turn right side in and stuff.

Mmm I can't see this being finished over the weekend.

Travel itinerary for the week ahead.

Smile has returned.

As I sit in my Travelodge motel room in Bankstown, Sydney NSW,  I am able to form a smile because:

- I didn't have to sit and eat tea at the Bankstown Sports Club by myself. Colleagues from Wagga Wagga CatholicSchools  Office are also attending the same meeting

- I have a very comfy bed to sleep on

- I have sewn five sets of hexagons together and clap your hands if you can ..... I am happy!!!!!

Not smiling

I am in the process of doing some reverse sewing of my hexagon quilt as I have put it together wrong and it is not sitting properly.

This is how it is meant to look.

Oh well. Some sets I can save so out comes the faithful quick unpick.

Certainly need to improve on my photographing skills

Back in Balranald

I am back in Balranald working at the school I taught at for 18 years. It is great to be back.

I am sitting in the motel watching tv, listening to the conversation from the man in the next room(he is even competing with the tv). So loud.

I have some happy news and can't wait to reveal it all to you later on.

Tonight I am sewing the hexagons.

FNWF

I ended up going to a friends house for tea so I wasn't able to stitch a lot.

This is my effort for the night.
Must be getting close to glueing these to papers for my top. They are so cute and have many more to do. Yay!

Saturday night is....

EPP (English Paper Piecing) night. Sewing with a friend in Northern Territory and another in Victoria. Technology joins us all together.

This Saturday night I spent in the Australia's capital city, in the house I grew up in sewing with my mum.

I am sewing 1/2 inch hexagons to make a mug rug.

This is what I sewed.

I have to finish the background and make two more hexagon flowers to finish it off.

Today with a sigh of relief Talia got her JDD ( junior dinner dance) dress. Now to find some rather high heeled shoes for the occasion. DFO might be the place to go to.

Friday Night sew in

Friday night the kids and I had take away. That meant more time for me to sew.

I set my machine up on the table. It won't move from here for a couple of weeks.

I started with this.

Became this.

Then this.

To become this.

I need the felt for the needles and the button then all will be complete!

It matches my sewing bag.

I then spent the rest if the night stitching More hexagon joiners.

I have these already now. And NO I didn't sew them all in ine night.

Hexagons..

Basted and ready to sew...

Monday, 9 September 2013

Friends.

Last night me friend Kylie Suggested we dedicate Saturday to EPP sewing.

I thought this was a great idea and pulled out my vignette hexagon quilt.

When I laid the flowers out I found that I had made quite a few. I started to join some to make rows.

I added the second row of joining white hexagons.

As I began to join the next row I discovered there were some sets of four joined with out a white hexagon, boy I do love reverse sewing.

This is what I sewed the night with.
  • 3 sets of four rows joined
  • 5 white hexagons joiners - don't look too close as I still have to sew some of the white hexagons.  I was keen to join it up as I am in need of papers.
  • 2 sets of 4 joined

I need to join a set of four flowers to make a row of three, then sew these to the top row.

I'm not sure how big this quilt will be but I am inspired. I have used a fat 1/8th of this fabric range so far.  I want to join that all together before I cut out some more.

Now to make some stitchery hexagons, I need many more for this quilt.  A

Purse kit

Today I had a day home.

After lunch I finished sewing together  the hexagons.

I sewed the pieces together on the machine.
Tonight I am attaching the frame. I have stitched it together so I can sew the frame onto the purse.

Purse is all finished. My purse looks like it has wings. Much bigger than hat if the pattern. I may not have sewed the pleat enough.

I am happy to have another finish for the month.
That is a total of two. Yay.

my good friend Michelle from http://daisyhillquilts.blogspot.com.au

Is the best at making these purses. You should go check her out. I messaged her and she helped me out.

I know.....

I should have worked on my essay, I am expecting my sister-in-law (ex husbands sister in law) on Thursday night and needed to get some work done around the house.

Today's weather was incredible. I had the house all open it was so warm.

In the afternoon I took out the small purse pattern I got from the craft fair last weekend.  I decided I was  going to make the purse and started gluing hexagon papers to fabrics

I am using my French General fabrics. I know that would surprise you!

I have begun joining these together.

Small purchase.. Hexagons

Today I relented and went down to Nellies and bought some Riley Blake fabric I have been eyeing off for weeks.
How cute is it?

At the shop there was a cushion made from the fabric.

I have also begun my June Stitch-a-long project.
I started basting the hexagons.

The pattern asked for 1/2 inch hexagons I had 3/4 inch hexagons so I am using these instead.
