Applique, red work and cross stitch!

Goodness me we are nearly at the end of January!  How did that happen? I didn't post last week, time just got away from me, which means I have quite a bit to show this week!  I got into my sewing room and attached all the bits of car to Oliver's cushion.  I did buy a cushion pad on line but it is too small (I don't normally buy them that way because I always seem to get it wrong and its always too much hassle for a few pounds to send it back - I'm sure it will eventually get used!) It doesn't show in the photo but I did some wavy lines in glow in the dark thread.  When I can get to the shop I will make the cushion cover up.

I started a new project (I know I wasn't going to!) but my pal at craft class had just started this Birthday calendar in red work and you know I can't resist having some red work on the go.

I also got some more stitches added to my bird/egg cross stitch - I'm well ahead of the game for Easter!

I've added some more rows to my sweet pea crochet blanket too, but not significant enough for a photo.  Maybe next week.
I will link up with Kathy for some slow Sunday stitching so hop on over and take a look at what others are stitching today.

Sweet Pea crochet and stitches

I don't have a lot to show for this week, but I have been doing a few more lines on my sweet pea crochet blanket - 30 in total!

On Monday I had my craft class.  There was only five of us but it's always fun!  We started our stitches and although it doesn't look much it took me all day!!  I was obviously talking far to much.

Next week I hope to achieve a bit more.  I have to isolate for three days before having a very minor investigation on Thursday.  Have a good day!

Hydrangea, cross stitch, cushions!

Last week I said I had framed two embroideries over the Christmas holidays, here is the second one.  Its hydrangeas taken from the Hand-stitched Landscapes and Flowers book by Katrina Witten.  There are lots of embroideries I could do in this book, but I just don't have the time.....maybe later in the year!

I've started the third cross stitch in the Easter egg and bird set from Satsuma Street designer.  Now as it's an Easter project I just like to think I'm ahead of the game here, but truthfully it's quite a nice little project to pick up as and when time (and light) allows
Tomorrow I have my embroidery/craft group and we have decided to make a stitch guide.  I'm thinking I will turn mine into a book so with that in mind I've stitched some guidelines and each page will measure 4 x 5 inches.  We have been given two stitches to work on - hopefully I will have something to show next week.
I am also making a cushion for my friends 3 year old grandson.  Last year his parents bought him a bed shaped like a racing car, a red racing car! How fantastic is that!  The pieces for this have been cut out for months, I just needed to be inspired to assemble each car and attach them to the fabric.  I've also picked out the matching thread - just need some time to free motion stitch around each colour.
For slow Sunday stitching I will probably carry on with sewing the little bird.  Hop on over to Kathy's blog and see what other projects are being worked on today!

Crochet

Goodness me here we are in 2022.  I wonder what the year holds for everyone?  Lets hope its covid free (or maybe that's to much to ask for!) or at least covid reduced to a level where we can get back on with our lives again!

I love to start the year off by writing a list of outstanding projects (quite a few on this list...as usual) and then I like a list of what I really want to make this year (interestingly not so much on this list so far but I know when all the stitch a longs begin to be published through out January I know it will get longer!!)

I don't have much to show for this post, but I have been adding the odd line or two to my sweet pea crochet.  I think this must be the easiest of Attic 24s pattern.

I do love the colours.  I did get two of my colours mixed up but there was no way I was going to take it back, beside it makes it unique!
During the holidays I also managed to frame a couple of outstanding embroideries.  Here's my embroidered garden
A close up before framing

Well that's all folks.  Happy New Year!
