Bee Creative

Wow it has been so hot here in the UK that its been hard to function let alone do anything in the way of gardening or housework.  The most comfortable place to be has been at the end of the garden under the shade of the trees and that is exactly where I've spent most of the past week.  Or course that gave me the chance to complete the cross stitch project Bee Creative!  I just need to attach it to the front of the little hessian bag which I think is going to be hard going.

I've also added a few stitches to my country garden.  Some daisies and some ground cover.

and while I was in the hobby shop on Saturday I bought some variegated thread for the ground cover.

The XXXII Olympiad started yesterday (I watched the opening ceremony on Friday which was a much more somber show than usual which is to be expected and I felt sorry for the Japan if I'm honest).  I have prepped a couple of projects to do while watching the Olympics and or course I can start the french knot ground cover on my garden embroidery.
2nd bird Easter egg

and a red work bee hive.
The hot weather finally broke in the early hours of Saturday morning and we had a massive thunder storm so it feels slightly more comfortable!  I will link up with Kathy for some slow Sunday stitching!

Cross stitch

Unfortunately Football wasn't coming home to England!  Instead Italy were the better team (mind you they got four yellow cards!) and beat us on penalties.  Well done England they did an amazing job!

On the sewing front I have continued with the three projects I showed last week.  First up is the Faby Reilly needlebook.  Part two came out on Monday and because the weather wasn't great on Monday I got to complete it in one sitting!  I don't think I've ever done that before!

I am rather embarrassed to admit that I couldn't tell what it was (a case of couldn't see the wood for the trees!)  It was my husband who said nice Dragonfly!!!!!  Finishing this part so quickly means I have to wait two weeks for the next part.
I've also done some more work on my Bee Creative cross stitch from Cotton and Twine subscription box.  For slow Sunday stitching I plan on putting some more stitches in this - hop on over and take a look at what everyone else is working on today.
My embroidered country garden has grown one more plant since last week - a Liatris (turkey stitch).  this stitch is a first for me and really needs to be closer together to give the full, fluffy effect, but at the moment I can live with it, although I will probably add some more french knots down the stems.
Tomorrow Monday 19th July is a big day for England.  We ditch our face masks, social distancing,  everything can open up and we can go about our lives pre covid 19!  This makes me feel really uncomfortable.  The scientists predict cases will increase as will deaths!  I do get that we have to learn to live with this disease (as we do the flu) but it still makes me very uncomfortable.  Take care and stay safe!

Footballs coming Home!

It's been 55 years since England won a big football championship.  In 1966 we won the World Cup!  I was a slip of a girl (no seriously I was) and don't remember it but tonight England are playing in the final of the Euro 2020 games (postponed from last year) and although I am not a huge football fan I am really excited that we have got this far and have everything crossed for a win!!

It's been another week that has sped by and I've no idea where the time has gone.  I've been working on part one of the Faby Reilly SAL and haven't quite finished.  So for my slow Sunday stitching I will add the last two pieces of felt.  Part two is published tomorrow so I would really like to be up to date for that!

I also started the Bee project from the Cotton and Twine subscription box and managed to get a few crosses added, although there isn't much to see just yet!

You would think that working on two projects was enough.....but I was hunting for something else when I came across a project I started some time ago from the Embroidered Country Gardens book by Lorna Bateman (this book is just gorgeous).  I had only embroidered some of the pink Foxgloves (buttonhole stitch) and felt really motivated to add some more flowers, the Agapanthus (fly stitch), Linaria (French knots) and the stems for some Liatris.

It is really only a piece to practice different stitches on and I'm not sure the flowers look like the real thing but its rather enjoyable and while I am enjoying it I will carry on!

What ever you are doing today have a great day!

Bee, Autumn, Christmas decoration!

Despite having guests stay this past week, I've had quite a productive week with two finishes and a new start.  First up is the Bee lavender sachet for my sister in laws 70th birthday. There was only a few stitches to add so yesterday I got out my sewing machine and made the sachet up.

I also mounted my Autumn cross stitch from the Cotton and Twine subscription box.  Its been finished for a while but not completed until the Tilda background fabric was added and the card surround.
I have winter to make now and then that's all four seasons done.  While my guests where here I wanted something to stitch that didn't take too much concentration - I wanted to talk and stitch! So I opted to start making Amber the first Christmas decoration from mmmcrafts.  It took me two years to complete my set of the 12 days of Christmas, so I'll make her one a year with the year embroidered on the back rather than the ornament number - 12 years.....that should be easy enough!
On Monday the first part of Faby Reilly's stitch a long was published (unfortunately our internet failed and I couldn't see the first part until Monday afternoon - very frustrating) but I knew it would need me to concentrate so today for slow Sunday stitching I will make a start.  The first part is not huge, only 2-3 hours of work so hopefully I can finish it today.  But then again I received June's subscription box from Cotton and Twine with a neat little Bee Creative cross stitch that will eventually attach to a small canvas bag.  Ummmmm which one shall I do?
What ever you decide to do today I hope you have a great day!
