Ta-Dah moment!

I'm very, very happy to say that Milly's Garden is finally finished!  It's a really good feeling as this one has been sitting on the back burner for well over a year (I know that isn't a huge amount of time and I do have some UFOs that have a lot more history than that!)

Here is a close up of the quilting.  It took ages to do, but I am glad I persevered.  The finished quilt is 39" x 39".  I am linking up with OMG - One Monthly Goal at Elm street Quilts and you can see what other people have completed HERE.

1 year of stitches

I couldn't download photos yesterday so wasn't able to add my weekly update of '1 year of stitches'.  So here it is.  I worked on the orange last week and have nearly completed that segment of the project! This week I'm concentrating on red.

Red work and binding!

It has been a super productive week!  I'm amazed at how much I've achieved considering we went away in our motor home to Salisbury for three days. But then again with no TV in the van it does give me the opportunity to sew to my hearts content!!

Unfortunately I am having trouble downloading photos to the PC so I can't show very much but....

Here is Milly's Garden nearly finished - it shows the quilting quite well.

And some detail of the red work candle mat I am in the process of making.  I've also finished knitting a pair of socks for my brother-in-laws 70th birthday and altered a skirt that I really love but since loosing weight couldn't wear (I've taken in three inches!!!!!).

I will link up with Slow Sunday Stitching so you can get some inspiration from the lovely hand sewing projects that are being worked on today!!

And hopefully during the next few day I will be able to post some more photos.

Have a good Sunday.

Slow Sunday Stitching

This week I finally got round to sewing the Roman Blind for the hall window that has been waiting for me to feel inspired for the last month!!  It's amazing how a cold snap can both inspire and motivate!!!  Last week one of the Slow Sunday Stitchers posted photos of her cat sitting on anything she was using/working on - sewing, paper, receipt!  Well Lola is exactly the same!  As soon as I put this down on the floor to check it was square Lola sits on it!

This afternoon I will be stitching all the little rings on the back, ready to be hung when DH puts up the batten.  And hopefully I'll get some time to work on my red work candle mat too.  I'm linking up with Kathy's Blog so you can see what other people are sewing today.

I've also finished doing the quilting on Milly's Garden - Yay!
And of course '1 year of stitches'

1 year of stitches

Oops! I forgot to add the photo on Sunday of progress on '1 year of stitches'.  So here it is, with some more green filled in.

Slow Saturday Stitching!!

I'm out tomorrow, so not to be done out of some lovely quiet, sewing time I've spent the morning stitching these little scissor/key/gift tags for my girlfriends
They didn't take long to do and the assembling of them took far longer!
Each little disc is two inches across and mounted on card with wadding.  I then spent an hour (a whole hour!) searching for the red and white twine to use around the outside and to hang them up with!
And here they are completed (along with the one I made for myself).  And yes I was right, ladder stitching the discs together and attaching the twine was by far the hardest/longest part.  I am pleased with them (but then again I do sooooo love red work) and they will look nice adorning their Christmas presents!  Tomorrow I will link up with Kathy's Blog for Slow Sunday Stitching!

One Monthly Goal!

In an effort to try and get 'Milly's Garden' finished I've signed up to OMG (One Monthly Goal).  I am hoping it focuses me to complete the quilting at the very least - I've run out of steam on it again....not helped by the fact I've run out of thread! And if I can really get myself organised, to add the binding - I need to buy some fabric for that also (still buying fabric has never posed a problem in the past of course).

You can see what other people are trying to achieve this month HERE at Elm Street Quilts.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm very pleased with the way these two red work decorations turned out!  They both come from Mandy Shaws red and white Christmas book and there are lots more projects in their I want to make.

It's been a busy week, but on a Sunday we always try to do an extra long walk with the dog, which if possible incorporates a stop off at a tea shop for elevenses!  We then feel justified in spending the afternoon on the sofa, watching a film and I of course sew!  Which is exactly what I'm going to do in a minute after I've linked up with Kathy's Blog.  (I will get back to looking at what everyone else has been sewing today - it's always an inspiration!)

I've been working on the orange for '1 year of stitches' this week and I've had to really pace myself!  I'm itching to complete it now, but with only 8 weeks to go I'm sure it will work out perfectly. (How scary is that 8 weeks until 2018!!!!!)

On that note I will say TTFN and have a good one!
