1 year of stitches
As we are still away in our van there isn't al lot to show. I have done a little bit on my owl cross stitch and some more 60 degree diamonds and of course I've stitched at least one stitch every day!!

1 year of stitches
We have had a busy week touring around North Yorkshire, so the sewing has taken a bit of a back step although I have done some 60 degree diamonds for my travel quilt and of course the 1 year of stitches continues!
Yesterday we visited Nunnington Hall and Garden, a National Trust property near Scarborough. They have a beautiful wild flower meadow and two resident peacocks and peahens. They also have 22 miniature dolls house rooms and this hexagon quilt on the bed is made up of such tiny hexies, I'm not sure I would have the patience or the eye site to make any thing this small!

60 degree diamonds
I eventually got round to sewing the line of stars that I made in Portugal to the main part of the memory quilt, which means I've freed up quite a few papers now. This is definitely one of those long term projects but its reminding me of places we've visited over the last 18 months. I'm not sure how big this quilt will be but I guess while we are still getting away in our motor home and really enjoying ourselves, I will carry on making stars!!
Last week we were staying on Dartmoor in Devon and did lots of walking (and eating several Devonshire Cream Teas!), which means I have three more stars to add. Hopefully I can do that this afternoon in the garden!
I will link up to Kathy's blog for Slow Sunday Stitching where you can see what other people have been stitching!

Rustic Sheep
"May brings flocks of pretty lambs: skipping by their fleecy dams" - Sara Coleridge
I have had such fun at my Creative Embroidery class today! The next line in Sara Coleridge's poem is based on sheep and we have been creating a sheep panel. The nose and ear tips have been padded to give some definition to the dams face and of course like most things, sewing eyes make all the difference. Unfortunately for this little lady I've made one eye bigger than the other but the next stage is needle felting her shaggy, curly coat and she will definitely have long hair over her eyes, so by my reckoning you won't see much of them!! Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it! It's surprising how many sheep/wool jokes we could come up with, but its was fun!
I'm not around for a few days but I hope to get some woolliness on her soon.

Ta-da!
I have two Ta-da moments for this blog entry! The first is the spring vessel I started in Aprils Creative Embroidery class. I wanted to get it finished to take to tomorrows class. It will look better obviously when it has a vase full of flowers in it, but as I'm going away for a few days next week, it didn't seem worth buying flowers. I am quite glad it's finished though as it was a lot of work but it is quite pretty.
My second finish this week is the teeny tiny needle case I started in Portugal! I don't really need another needle case but my theory is being a sewer means you never can have too many!!
And of course I can't finish this post without a progress photo of '1 year of stitches'
I am linking up with Kathy's blog Slow Sunday Stitching where you can get some sewing inspiration!
I almost forgot I took this lovely photo of orange Tulips and Wall flowers at a National Trust garden last week to inspire me while sewing the orange section of '1 year of stitches'!
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday.

1 year of stitches
I had the choice of going orange or pink for May and as you can see I've opted for the orange. Mainly because I don't have very much of it! I've' drawn some outlines and did a couple of French knots yesterday but I feel I might struggle again this month (I'll wait and see).
