Good Friday brought bright, beautiful sunshine and we spent a good part of the day gardening. The rest of the weekend however has been a different matter altogether, with torrential rain, hail stones and high winds! Now I could quite easily have sat back and done lots of sewing but instead decided to decorate my work room!
I didn't realise how dirty the wall paper had got until I started to paint it (removing the old wall paper was not an option). So I now have a bright white ceiling, fresh skirting board and two walls painted. Unfortunately I ran out of magnolia paint (I decided to keep it plain and use my work, and some mini quilts - 4 altogether - from a quilt swap, to give it the colour and interest). It is only a small room and I had hoped to finish today but I will have to go out tomorrow morning and buy more paint. But I guess as its going to be another miserable day tomorrow its not too big a hardship!
Running out of paint did however mean I've done a little hand sewing on some more hexies. I will link up with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching so you can see what others have been sewing this Easter Sunday.

Slow Sunday Stitching
It's Sunday so that means its link up time with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching! I love looking at what everyone is working on, its really inspiring! Plus its the first race of the Formula 1 season so everything is set for an afternoon of stitching and watching TV (no guilt involved today as its grey and overcast so not a very nice day for gardening!)
In anticipation of that I prepped this little London skyline to embroider. As part of my birthday present DH bought me a subscription to Stitch magazine and I want to try and make (and finish)something from every issue. It is published every other month so I'm hoping its achievable......watch this space.
As you can see from the photo below I got lots of lovely crafty things for my birthday and I'm looking forward to using them!!
Have a wonderful, relaxing, crafty Sunday!

Socks
This is a sock themed post! I've been working on my second pair of socks for DH. So far they seem to be working out although it was a bit tricky working out how to make them larger! (Just being blond I'm sure!) But all is good, the one that's finished seems to fit beautifully.
As you can tell I just a little bit obsessed now with sock wool and I've already bought more. It is lovely soft wool and will possible end up as being a present for a girl friend (but that will depend on how well they turn out)
Not sure how my new crochet hook got into this photo?
And keeping with the sock theme, my DH bought me this book the other day. However I think I can only aspire to these socks after all I've only made one and a half pairs so far!!!

Slow Sunday Stitching
I finally remembered to photograph my zentangle fish. I'm glad I went for less is more on him and didn't try to fill in all the spaces. He is quite cute and I'm rather pleased with him. Just not sure what to do with him now!!!!
And here is my rather messy work table showing some progress with my hexies.
It is a beautiful day here in the UK, the sun is shining and the daffodils are in full bloom. I'm not sure how much sewing I will get done until this evening but what ever you are doing today have a good one!
Pop over to Kathy's blog for Slow Sunday Stitching and see what others are sewing today.

Red work hearts
I love, love, love this! And what's not to love of course? Red work hearts and red and white nine patch has to be a match made in heaven!! The original pattern calls for a white boarder and then red ric rac on top of that, but I have run out of the white linen fabric and I can't decide whether to order some more and add the boarder or quilt and bind it as it is? I'll think about it some more before I decide as there is no hurry.

Mothers Day
I must admit I haven't done any sewing today but thought I would share what I've been working on this week. I've been sewing hexie flowers for the last four years (my goodness is it really four years!) and this week decided it was about time I actually started to put them together and I think its going to be at least another four years before I finish. It took ages just to do these few! And I realise I need another 90 plus green hexies to fill in the spaces between the aqua!
When I was reading Kathys blog for Slow Sunday Stitching (I'm linking up HERE so you can see what others are sewing today) I realised maybe I should have a go (eventually) with hand quilting this master piece! I've never hand quilted any of my patchwork before and as all of this has been hand sewn it feels like the right thing to do! In the mean time have a great Mothering Sunday! xx
PS I have actually finished my zentangle fish (Yay) but need to photograph it!
