RSC ~ purple

April seems to be flying past with not much sewing activity!  I did take my hexies away with me so I could do some hand stitching and I have managed to make one purple house block and put the wonky edge on one I made last year!

Jump over HERE to see what everyone else is doing this Easter weekend with their purple scraps.

Kaffe Fassett

We have just spent several glorious days in Glastonbury!  One of our days out was a trip to the American Museum in Britain, which is at Claverton, just outside Bath.  They had an exhibition of Kaffe Fassett's textiles to celebrate his 50 year long association with the museum, which began in 1964 with a series of pen drawings of the rooms in the museum.  There were over 100 pieces of work from his personal collection and I thought I would share with you a few photographs!

Around the exhibition were lots of his quotes.  I particularly liked this one
'when in doubt, add twenty more colours!'
I think I might adopt that one!!
There were also lots of sketches and jottings for fabrics and I realised as I went round that I actually have quite a few of his fabrics in my stash!
All of the rooms and areas where colour themed to match his knitwear and textiles

It was quite hard to capture the excitement of the exhibition but I left it wanting to buy more of his fabric and start a new quilt!!

Another Little Quilt Swap 8 and felt making

I'm not sure if I have shown the photos of my contribution to the ALQS 8 challenge.  So just in case I didn't here it is!!  If I was making it again I wouldn't square up the outer edges - don't know what made me do that!  I would leave them wonky like the inner squares.  Still I rather like it and its gone to a new home in Australia!

And below is a close up of the detail.

On Monday it was my textile class and in it we made some felt.  I quite enjoy felting.  its rather therapeutic!  All that vigorous manipulating!

At next months class we are going to start to sew into it and maybe cut up one of the pieces to put onto the other.
