New Surfaces for Old

In my continuing quest to complete UFOs I have taken up this textile I started last year. It was a class run after the Brockenhurst Fiesta, in April 2010 and taken by Faye Maxwell who had a stall and exhibited at the show.

It was a great class, very liberating! We cut out shapes from vilene and using car spray paint, stencilled our design onto old furnishing fabric. We then isolated our best bits and embellished to our hearts content with thread and always (in my case) a little bit of glitz.

I am wondering if I've over embellished - someone once told me the art of knowing when to stop is a difficult one! So I will look at it over the next day or two and decide whether it warrents a frame!

Needle case

Its been another windy, chilly day, so from my point of view that meant I could play in my work room without feeling guilty about the garden!!! I'm still sort of sticking to my no new projects until I've reduced my UFO pile (well no big projects anyway). Today I made a little needle case for my daughter, who is starting to collect her own sewing kit (she is off to University (again) in September and I don't suppose she will come home when she finishes this time). The template came from one of my favourite Tilda books and I've used some of my favourite fabric - I know number one daughter will like it.

Elephants on Parade

I've been neglecting my Blog recently. The garden calls at the moment and setting myself the goal of not starting a new project until I have completed some of my UFOs is just too much - they aren't UFOs for no reason - I obviously got bored with them somewhere along the line!!! But I'm glad to say I've persevered with this one. As you can see it is continuing my love of Elephants and especially elephants in silk! The pattern comes from Ann Baxter, whose work I adore and I've included some close ups - hope you like them

Pampered Pet Cards

Ive spent the last four days in beautiful Bath, which means I have very little to show this week. So here's something I made earlier! I didn't make them all, number one daughter helped, but they are really cute and we really enjoyed making them.

Even more elephants

I promised that I wasn't going to start anything new and that's been quite a challenge. I really didn't want to carry on with this, even though I love anything with elephants, but now I've started to add embellishments, I'm liking these three more and more!! Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to show the finished item.
