Sew a Row

Four years ago I bought the Karin Hellaby book Sew a Row Quilts and dutifully went to a class to sew several rows over 6 months. Needless to say my unfinished blocks moved house with us two years ago and remained unloved until this weekend!! Why the sudden change of heart? Two reasons - Number one daughter wants to put flying geese around the edge of her quilt and secondly its been an absolutely scorching weekend (too hot to garden or sit outside) so Ive been sewing! Ive now finished most of the blocks and I plan to turn them into a tote bag - watch this space!!

Open Gardens and Handbags!!

At lunch time today the DH and I went to an open garden hosted by one of my textile teachers. It was very enjoyable. We had tea and cake on the lawn and wondered around the garden - a really nice way of raising money for charity! It inspired me to come home and finish off the piece I started a couple of months ago. I can't decide if it needs a bead, button or tassel as a catch, so I think I will live with it for a while and see what transpires!!

Post cards

Last weekend was a girl friends birthday (one of those big O ones!) My friends and I decided to give her a present for every year of her life. I made these post cards as part of her present along with shower gel, chocolates, nail files and a whole lot more - but I'm far to polite to say exactly how many more!!

Textile

I have finally finished this piece of textile. It has taken me ages to decide which frame to put it in and which boarder to use. Interesting while I was working on it I thought it should hang longways, but it was number one daughter who said turn it on its side. Its amazing what a difference that has made. Now all I need to do is sign and date it!!
