Brockenhurst Fiesta 2010

I have spent a wonderful few hours at the Brockenhurst Needlework Fiesta 2010! I bought a variety of yarns, scrim, felt, silk rods, silk cap and lumiere paints. As I type I wish I had got some other bits and pieces, but only took cash so I wouldn't over spend - Oh well I guess I will just have to save up for next year. Now all I have to do is create something!

Wisley

It was Dads 80th birthday this week and we celebrated it with the family at Wisley RHS Garden (everyone managed to make it back to and in to the country).

Here are a few photos taken by DH.

Closed Airports and RATS

This little critter (don't let me fool you into thinking I like rats because I don't) has been visiting our garden over the last two days, enticed in by the yummy bird seed we put out!

I've spent most of this morning doing a parameter check and blocking every hole that might possible fit a rat! DH says now we live in the country that's what you have to expect! I could be moving back to London.

On another note Number One son is stranded in Lisbon for an extra week because all the airports in the UK are closed! What a terrible hardship!!

Fairies quilt

Last Sunday my god-daughter gave birth to her second daughter! I made this quilt for her first daughters 2nd birthday last July. I made the pattern up as I went along, but I was pleased with the result. I will have fun planning another quilt now!!

Camels

Ive had a rather hectic weekend, so haven't spent much time in my workroom - so here are a couple of wall hangings I made earlier!!! Both pictures are made out of silk, a fabric that i love working with. The large camel is about 18 inches square but the three together is only 10 x 7 inches and the wavy boarder was a nightmare to do. I have a soft spot for camels by the way!

Passementerie

Ive finally finished my passementerie which I started at a class in January!

It was great fun to do although I'm not entirely happy with the framing of it and would rather a wood surround.

Ive used lots of new techniques, including tyvek beads, tassels and handmade cord, all based around a tiny sewing kit. Ive managed to use most things from the kit - the scissors, cotton reels, thimble and safety pins. It is now hanging in my workroom and looks great!
