Midas Touch

Hello All,

I don't know how many of you have this tick, but I sure do. I have this truck loads of stuff that sometimes gets forgotten and relegated to a corner. And then, one fine day, I find it and go berserk! I try every possible craft with it1 :D Today's "refind" was my gold pen which is a treasured possession from Stockholm. Since I was anyway considering doing a pair of earrings with a terrific finish (after I found someone's picture on the Net where the design was way toooo similar to what I had made but only the finishing was 100 times better). The "Midas Touch" pen came in handy and I painted the town (ok ok, just the earrings :D) gold.......so here goes: Midas Touch :)

And ya, I was asked why I always have that one strip surrounding my entire earring? Reason: Sturdiness. I am a very mechanical engineering obsessed crafter. My earrings have to have that sturdiness element. Just a tight coil on top will come off in a snap and I can't bear to spoil my hard work because of that ONE weak link :)

Happy Quilling

Happy Valentine's Day :)

Hello All,

Wish you all the starry eyed ones a very very happy Valentine's Day! :) In the honour of the day and also, this being my 100th post, I post here an honour "I" got from Homyachok Scrap Challenge blog: Being a guest design for the theme "Million Red Roses". Love is in the air and it is hard to resist feeling romantic! :)

Here is my creation (a photo-frame) for the challenge, as a guest designer.......

This was a specially tricky project because I am not a fan of pink and certainly, not of hearts. But rising above one's biases helps one mature as a person! :) I tried it and I think I like the final look. The "beehiving" of the heart took almost 5 hours to complete as I was gluing the rolled strips to the base as I was filling it up (large area "beehiving" can pop out if not held securely). The roses are spiral roses (which I was never able to make properly, so I tried some 12 times before I got a hang of it!), as per the requirement of the theme for the challenge :)

I am registering it for Lollipop Cards - With Love challenge

I dedicate this to my best friend, soul-mate and husband, Ananth. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't know life could be such a joy ride! He was my inspiration behind taking a step as bold and risky as taking up art full time when I am trained for being a scientist. This day and always, Ananth makes me live life the way one should - ENJOY!

This day is also special as I am in Indiaaaaaaaaaa now! Rest later, after I settle down (I know, I heard that I have to post my Valentine's Day challenge results too! :D).............

Take care all of you, stay warm and stay happy.....

Happy Quilling

No Hearts, No Pinks, No Reds :)

Hello All,

A quick post, an inspiration to everyone wishing to participate in my Valentine's Day challenge, you don't need hearts, reds or pinks to make a Valentine's Day Card! :D (I have a thing against the heart shape, too cliche, I guess!)............

The golden swirls are hand-drawn, I really enjoy that kind of drawing (and I don't do it often enough). The colours (yet AGAIN!) look a little skewed. It's a very pretty cobalt blue and bright orange combination......the embossed lines on the background are also hand-made, along with the golden dots. I don't think I take much to stamps etc, and hence, nearly completely hand-made card :)

After this, I may be going on a break because relocation blues are approaching......my husband will be a PhD in 18 days' time (boy, I am SO thrilled!)..........I will try posting as and when I can :)

Happy Quilling PS: If my posts inspire you to create something on similar lines, I feel highly flattered. But please, do respect the effort I take in conceptualizing and executing, please give a direct link to my work when you are inspired by mine. Thanks for understanding........:-)

One in a million :)

Hello All,

I have been kinda silent on the tutorials, and I apologize. Largely to myself because I love writing tutorials and spreading the joy of creation :) But I have been terribly busy. One of my closest friends' B'day is SO close, I am afraid my gift won't make it in time and I must knock myself on the head for almost having forgotten that her b'day was approaching! Duh! But I remembered and I hope she likes it, she is after all, the ONE IN A MILLION people you get to meet. I want her to know that SHE has been a great inspiration for me and that I look up to her, as a guiding light :)

A jewellery box for a gem I have come across in my life :)

I can't seem to stop photographing it! Thanks to Honey for her photography tips :) The quality of photographs is suddenly so much better! :)

Addition: The box IS hand-made, from the back support of a sketch book. I have finished using up the pages and the cardboard at the back was lying around. I cut it up (after some involved calculations as the box has been sent to my friend with a personalized poem written on a scroll inside, the scroll had to fit in the box) and made the box. The black paper used is 130 gsm black card paper. The red is ordinary 80 gsm printing paper and the red lining inside the box is 300 gsm red carton paper.

Thank you ALL for putting up with me. Without you all, this just wouldn't have worked out. A special thanks to my sister, Nitesh, for being that pillar of support all the while and for getting me started with quilling. Without you, I wouldn't even be writing this :-)

A special thanks to Suzana who finally inspired me to think out of the box! I would give an arm and leg to be half as creative as her!

Am entering this one for Anything but a Card challenge :-)

And last, but not the least, thanks Leesandra Diaz, for inviting me to join the Blog Hop.

Royal Lily tutorial

Hello All,

I am back with a tutorial for a lily that I made in my post.

I have ever since had people ask me how to make it, so here goes. It is 12:30 am here, so I won't write much text but I hope things will be clear from the images. Maybe, I will edit the text a bit later :-)

And this is my entry to Anything But a Card challenge and Make it Dimensional challenge! :-) I don't even know if I qualify! :)
