Basic Earring making tutorial

Hello All,

Often we know how to make the 'rest of the ' quilling jewellery but stumble at making the final metal loops :)

And material for basic earrings........

Here is a guideline on how you can do that :)

Tribute to MJ

Hello All,

There is hardly anyone in my generation untouched by the music of MJ and tons of creative people have paid some or the other kind of tribute to Michael Jackson in their own ways. I have never hidden the fact that my inspiration (in fact, the one who finally steered me in this direction, without her even realizing it) has been Suzana Ilic, with her superlative quilling. When she made a card with a cute little hat for a card of hers, I couldn't stop drooling. Today, while musing, an idea struck and I decided to convert her idea to an earring pair (today was a big time quilled jewellery day + I have blank studs to be able to make non-dangling earrings :)). And when one thinks of black hats, one HAS TO think of MJ. When he moonwalked or did gravity defying dance moves, I swooned. So, this pair of earrings is my tribute to the guy who made Music I grew up with and the lady who led to the transformation in my life.....here's to you MJ and Suzana! Love to both of you.......

Midas Touch

Hello All,

I don't know how many of you have this tick, but I sure do. I have this truck loads of stuff that sometimes gets forgotten and relegated to a corner. And then, one fine day, I find it and go berserk! I try every possible craft with it1 :D Today's "refind" was my gold pen which is a treasured possession from Stockholm. Since I was anyway considering doing a pair of earrings with a terrific finish (after I found someone's picture on the Net where the design was way toooo similar to what I had made but only the finishing was 100 times better). The "Midas Touch" pen came in handy and I painted the town (ok ok, just the earrings :D) gold.......so here goes: Midas Touch :)

And ya, I was asked why I always have that one strip surrounding my entire earring? Reason: Sturdiness. I am a very mechanical engineering obsessed crafter. My earrings have to have that sturdiness element. Just a tight coil on top will come off in a snap and I can't bear to spoil my hard work because of that ONE weak link :)

Messy desk and output :D

Hello All,

If there is anyone who can spot a square inch of free space on my work desk, I'll give that person a hundred bucks instantly! :D Such a mess I work in the middle of!

As I've maintained, Who says my desk is cluttered? I am a generous crafter who didn't say no to a homeless cyclone ;) If it wasn't for me, it'd roam around in the city, IMAGINE! :D

But well, here is the result of the "mess" on my desk (somehow, I need to see many things together, in one place, to come up with a design)...........

Narangi amalgamation

Hello All,

Now that I am kind of over my allergy, today was a day of hard-work (while the rest of the nation celebrates it as a holiday!) :) I had missed crafting and it shows in my desperation to do SOMETHING! Anything! :D

So, here comes.......my Orange (narangi = orange, both fruit and colour) Amalgamation earrings. The pattern on the earrings is a modified MS Punch-All-Over-The-Page punch, the base orange is hand-made paper (hand-cut circles), the 'white lines' on the earrings are using a white roller gel pen (I've a thing for drawing things myself), the ghunghroos were almost an afterthought and I like them there :) Just warming up for that BIG project I've had on my mind for a while :)

Martha Stewart Punch earrings

Hello All,

Ever since I lay my hands on these amazing punches, I've been experimenting left right and centre. And it is so aptly said, the most amazing ideas often come from the most unexpected quarters! :) I had gone to meet someone and she mentioned something which suddenly planted this idea in my brain! I'm always looking for ideas to use my tools differently :) And I so know that I will be making these for a long long time to come. A hint to other crafters, use your tile punches as well, this is fun to create :) And FAST! :)

Make cheesecake, recycle cheese-box :)

Hello All,

Ever since I made the cheesecake (recipe here), I had been eyeing the boxes in which the cream cheese came. And once Snehal announced her challenge, I grabbed the opportunity (I was due to make a box anyway, something I had been postponing). So, here it is, my entry to Snehal's challenge while I make a box for the bronze black earrings too :)

And here is a more complete look (top view, with the bronze black earrings in it and with my pearl bangles in it):

Bronze black paisley earrings

Hello All,

Once an order comes in, there starts a long process of digging deep into your brains for that ONE elusive idea which will fit snugly into your client's expectations. I got an order for bronze black earrings and this painstaking process of digging for an idea was shortened majorly by the client herself.

I think my most preferred clients are the ones who broadly know what they want and let me figure the rest out. The ones who know nothing make me spend a LOT of designing time! :D And the ones who know everything, well ummm.........discard designs after designs. So Pragyan, thanks a lot, for just suggesting the design and giving me the artists' license to figure the rest out! :) So, here I am, with bronze and black paisley earrings.........
