VAMPA: Vampire & Paranormal Museum

With a light snow falling, we headed to Doylestown, PA on Sunday to visit the VAMPA Museum.  Packed with beautiful handmade artifacts and dark artwork (most devoted to the art of vampire killing), we walked through each room with a sense of awe.  I had some fears it would feel a little cheesy or heavy-handed, but it was surprisingly tasteful.  The pieces are gorgeous.  You can instantly tell that the curation of this strange collection was to create a place of beauty and dark wonder.

In their own words:
VAMPA strives to create an environment where psychological drama and spiritual conflict are given free reign for imagination. A place that stimulates learning and understanding on how the magical mystery of the supernatural, folklore, myth, and faith has influenced the world in sculpture, painting, furniture and objects of art throughout the ages.

We will be returning for sure.

2001

Used some black and white film to photograph the Haunt back in 2001.  This one came out pretty neat.

Best Friends?

Most horror reviews of FRIGHT NIGHT (1985) mention that Ed Thompson was the best friend of the main character Charlie Brewster.  Even the lesser-known sequel makes mention of Charlie's "best friend" Ed.  But it's always bugged me because it's pretty well established that Charlie was getting on Ed's last nerve, and treated him rather poorly.  I present the below evidence as Exhibit A.

Mad Monster Party

The first photo from the final few.  In my memory, these guys did not coordinate their costumes.  Though that feels highly improbable looking at this photograph.

I'm not in this one, but I'm definitely in the next one I'll be posting tomorrow.

Professor Abraham Van Helsing, I Presume

I'm very concerned about his glowing green eyes.  Worried he got some Vampire blood in his mouth at some point.  Though I'm making a lot of assumptions here and this might not even be Van Helsing, though the hat, duster, and garland of garlic around his neck are pretty conclusive (not really).
