Porch Decor

First porch in the neighborhood with orange lights and cornstalks (not that it's a contest).

Sadly, shrinkflation has hit my local source for my stalks - same price as last year, but fewer stalks in the bunch.  As if I wouldn't notice...

No Trespassing

But had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre as they were to see that day. For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare. The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Distance

A shot from afar.  We went for a walk long after the last trick-or-treater, and after all of our guests had said goodnight.  Coming up the street, it was neat to imagine kids seeing the house and noticing the colorful lights... and wondering what exactly was up on that porch.

Porch Decorations

Started the first phase of the porch decor yesterday after work.  We drank pumpkin beer and listened to spooky tunes.  And a neighborhood Halloween cat even stopped by to check it all out.

It's Almost Time...

Going to be taking Petrified Jack down soon so the Haunt can go up.  I love that this guy has been around since 2014.  I've used him most years since then to let the neighborhood know the Haunt will be coming.

He always looks startled that he won't be part of the big show...

Porch Decor

Starting to see some nice decorations in the neighborhood.  Lots of Ghouls and spider webs (and the big furry spiders who made them).  We're the first with string lights on the block.  Hopefully it starts to spread.

Pumpkin Soup And Porch Decor

Enjoying some homemade (and wonderful) pumpkin soup and savoring a porch that's taking shape for the High Holiday.  Last night after work, we went to a favorite farm and picked up ten giant bunches of cornstalks.  This place is a decent drive from here, but it's totally worth it.  Best prices around in an area that pretty much extorts folks when buying pumpkins and corn.

It was dirty work, but some cold pumpkin ale, pizza from a favorite local place, and a lot of laughs made wiring the [ant-filled] stalks in place a ton of fun.  We worked as the sun was setting and got it all done in record time.  Some neighbors yelled over that they couldn't wait to see this year's Haunt.

I yelled back this year's theme and they seemed really excited.

Dust To Dust

Laid this little guy to rest in the garden.  Purchased in late September.

Was hoping he'd dry out, but then the spots started to form.

Porch Stuff

Man, it's a beautiful day here today.  Gonna see how long this Beistle skeleton lasts out there exposed to the elements (under the porch).

The Finishing Touch

Arthur the Alien.  A weird ceramic alien my brother gifted to me.  A splash of green.
