I saw, in PiaK's blog, a link to this Norwegian challenge, Skissedilla. They have really nice sketches and the contributions are real eye candy. I have no idea whether I have followed the rules but I participated anyway with this page. I started by following the sketch really closely, and then finished by adding some extra journaling and doodling to make it feel balanced and to complete the story I wanted to tell.
I had some doubts during the process, as I picked the orange shade from the shopping cart and the frame was in black and white, and I was afraid to end up with a halloween style page.
I think I managed to pull the page out of that quite well with lots of turquoise doodling and BG's June Bug details and pink and green letter stickers.
The layout is in Finnish: the title says "Getting our home a BIT BY BIT" and the journaling is about how building a house involves countless visits to the hardware store and how our little son has been very patient with it, driving in the cart and having dried rye bread in mommy's purse are a great help. The page is about how you can buy a ready made house or you choose & buy every single piece by yourself. Like after a hard day at work, "I need some shopping therapy..." "Okay, go get some cement and tiles..." LOL.
