I've been playing Need for Speed Underground incessantly now for a few weeks. Spending time with a game that has this much potential makes me wonder if EA could be in for its biggest year ever. Between SSX 3, NFSU, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, and The Return of the King, I'm really excited to see that we're receiving the promise of consistently great games from the world's largest publisher of video games. Although I didn't get a chance to see it at E3, my editorial compatriots were adamant that Need for Speed: Underground was one of the top-tier games of the show. I wouldn't say that I was skeptical; it was more that I suspected they were bowled over by the presentation or the pitch to some extent. After getting a nice, lengthy demo and some quality hands-on time, I have little doubt that it's an extremely solid, heavily tricked-out street racer with a great sense of speed and lots of customizability.
