Sony Computer Entertainment America today shipped their official video game of the Olympics Athens 2004 to stores.
Developed by Eurocom, Athens 2004 captures the true spirit of the Olympic Games and features four arcade and eight competition modes ranging from practice all the way to the decathlon and heptathlon. With a selection of 64 countries and 800 different athletes, Athens 2004 becomes an almost real life recreation of the Games while attempting to break an Olympic or World Record in either one of the 25 events.
"Athens 2004 truly captures the passion and atmosphere of the Olympic Games," said Ami Blaire, director, product marketing, PlayStation. "This game provides the opportunity to compete in the events and venues of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games within a virtual setting."
Athens 2004 will let players compete in various Olympic sports, including Athletics (Track & Field), Aquatics (Swimming), Gymnastics, Shooting, Archery, Weightlifting and Equestrian.
If you want to go for a real workout, Athens 2004 also supports the Playstation 2 Dance Mat (sold separately), which makes the game realistically interactive as you attempt to run faster, swim stronger or jump higher.
