Little Details

Sometimes, a little bit of detail can brighten up any space.

In this case, some bright, happy, cheerful blooms!

Such a simple thing to brighten up a dull winter day.  Even in this beautiful, sunny place, a splash of colorful flowers like this is just the thing to perk things up a bit!

Also....joining my Katie Daisy collection.....
...is this new piece.  {gasp!!}  It's PERFECT!!

It's amazing how a beautiful piece of art can brighten up a little space.

This happy creation is right above our dining table, first thing to greet us in the morning.  Right next to my sunflower pictures from Michigan.

This one (below) is in my daughter's room.  A $5.00 frame & some spray paint is all it needed to burst into splendor.  I can't say enough how much I LOVE this piece!!!

Here is Katie Daisy's shop, The Wheatfield, where I am looking forward to purchasing more art.  LOVE her.

{These two are ordered & on the way.....squeal!....}

...and this one is next...

Blog Swap with Stephanie!!

I am SO excited to be taking over Abby's blog today! Her blog was one that inspired me to start a blog of my own! Isn't her creativity fantastic?!

My name is Stephanie, and on most days you will find me over at Somewhat Simple. I am a wife to my very best friend and mom to my 3 favorite kids in the world! I come to you all the way from sunny Arizona- and yes, it is still very sunny... even in November!My family moved to Phoenix 4 years ago from California and we love living here!

I thought I would share a really cute and very simple project I made for my home a few weeks ago that has been a lot of fun so far. We call it "The Celebration Chalkboard"- its our family's place to write any reason at all to celebrate for the day- it just makes me smile looking at some of the reasons my kids come up with!

(This was MY reason to celebrate last week- our whole family seen by the dentist and not a single cavity in anybody's teeth- even after Halloween! Its a miracle!)

Here's how to make your own:

(just click on the pictures if you need to enlarge them)

Some of our reasons to celebrate have been:

-Ethan lost his tooth!

- Everyone did their chores!

- We're going to the Hockey Game for FHE!

- It's Friday!

- Uncle Ron is now a missionary!

... just to name a few!

Seriously, my kids try to come up with something new EVERY DAY!

So make your own "Celebration Board" and you'll always find some reason to be happy, no matter how silly the reason is!

I invite you all to check out what else is going on over at Somewhat Simple- more crafts, yummy recipes, monthly challenges and giveaways. In fact, I am getting ready for a huge giveaway coming very soon, check it out here:

Thanks again Abby for blog-swapping with me today! You're the best!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I can't STAND it!

Now that the hyperventilating is over, I can finally show you what has gotten me all wound up. I had to take like ten Prozacs just to regain my normal heart rate. {don't try that at home...I'm sure it's not healthy}

I must, must, MUST, {must} make some of these little birdies! I found the birds on this site here {love her} and she had a link to this site here but the pattern isn't showing up!!!! OH NOOOOO! HOWEVER...I think I can eyeball it and make my own pattern, though. {breathe...stop panicking...it'll be okay.} AND I'm going to make a nest!!! {gasp for air}

**Update: here is the bird pattern - my friend Graves Babe found it. {type this in to your browser: www.spoolsewing.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/birdpattern1-1.pdf} Atta girl - way to be a thinker! {I love it when people are smart because I can lean on them like a crutch...}

And then THIS?! Why does the Pottery Barn have to always one-up me in the most major way??? Okay - so picture this - my bedroom has a big, blank wall to the left of my bed and I was going to enlist Kadie to help me do a cool tree sihlouette with branches and leaves and little birdies sitting on the branches on the one wall, extending through the corner and over to my side of the bed - and the paint color would be just a couple of shades darker than the brownish color already on the wall. OKAY...do you have that image?

They used my idea and it's gorgeous. Well, at least I can say that I'm right there with those big thinkers. I'm just unambitious and slow. Bad combo.

And could that archway idea be any more AMAZING? I'm totally going to do that someday - as soon as I get my contractor's license.

Idea Venture - Canvas, Paint, Fabric

MY GOODNESS! They've done it again and this time I'm going for it! The fine folks at Pottery Barn Kids have inspired me once again.

I am OBSESSED with trees and all things tree related, so when I saw this piece of art, I just about gagged on my cold cereal this morning! I'm definitely going to be doing my own version of this tree and maybe even some flowers like those below.

It doesn't get any easier than this, ladies - some paint, blank canvas frames from JoAnn's, your favorite fabrics, and some adhesive. The color scheme possibilities are endless! You could even do a "Family Tree" thing with this and write the names of your family members on the leaves. I probably won't do that, but it's a fun idea.

Okay, so my ever-growing to-do-list just got bigger! Better get going!

Picture This

My daughter REALLY loves horses. As a special treat for her, I found some free photos on the Microsoft Clipart site, downloaded them, printed them out, and put them in a matching frame for her room. She loves the pictures and I love that it didn't cost hardly anything.
