New Fab Finds & a Lil' 'Splainin'

Good morning, Prim Friends!
 (The "Splainin'" Part)

I know it's been a very long time since I've posted here on the blog, but if you follow my facebook page, you'll know I've been "away," sick. Yes, "The CRUD" hit our home, and took it's toll on every last one of us, and it did not choose to show even a tidbit of mercy for anyone. Took quite a toll on us all, and "Life" pretty much came to a stand-still as I took care of two sick girls until they were well, then it was the boys' turn.  Two days within the boys coming down with it, it was my turn.  Thank goodness my oldest girl was well by then, or Lord only know how far things would've "went by the wayside," as it was shortly after I began to get sick, hubby also stared coming down with it!  Oh, boy! it was a complete nightmare!  The funny part of it all is that it's so RARE that anyone here ever gets sick, and if so, it may last a day or two (or sometimes three), and then all is well, for the most part, and that's IF anyone catches something going around. This time around, however, was the longest and worst of any illness we ever dealt with; a cold/flu like virus. Good news is, we made it through, and now I am in the process of "getting back to normal" once more -- knock on wood!

~Fab Finds~
(The FUN Stuff)

So, here I am, back to share some "Fab Finds" that I was able to pick up last Sunday during my bargain shopping hunt.  Since I've had no opportunity to craft at home in what seems like FOREVER, I thought maybe I could shop around for anything and everything that caught my eye.  You know, just some "knick-knacks & whatnots" that I could put in my booth to help fill in some empty spaces, and that would perhaps make some nice Mother's Day gifts.  *wink*

It is time for me to get on the craft train again, though, really.  I have tons of wood pieces I could work on getting painted and distressed, and then I have some vague ideas for some other projects, of course.  I will work on what I'm able, AS I'm able and will surely be back to share more as things get done.  For now, here are some photos of the things I picked up last week.  :D

First, remember these really cool metal candle holders I picked up way back when?  Well, I finally decided to do something with them.
...and this is what I came up with:
...I love them.  Picked these lantern "globes" up for some wood wall sconces I painted to discover that they didn't fit... barely.  So, I placed them on the candle holders, LOVED the look and was going to put them in the Shoppe with some grubby tapers inside, but then... taking everything out to the truck yesterday, my daughter accidentally dropped one of the glass covers, and that was the end of that plan... for now!  ;)  That's okay.  I'll get a new matching pair, THEN I'll take them to my booth (or at least TRY to get them there... in one piece).

Okay, so now that I've got that story out of the way, here are the rest of the photos from my "Fab Finds" shopping trip.  :)

*Click photos for enlarged view, remember*
Overall photo...

The lidded Turkey dish was too fab to pass up, though it has a very small hairline crack on one side, it's barely noticeable, and would be great just as a display piece.

I LOVED these when I saw them.  I know they are vintage and made in Taiwan and that's about it.  Wonderful little miniatures!

These two jars/vases with basket stands are originally from Pottery Barn.  I simply added the fabric strip bows to dress them up a bit.

Just a couple of "Old Timey" glass milk jars that I, again, added some fabric bows to, then filled with some dried flowers that I also found on my bargain hunting trip.  :)

Vintages Lead Crystal Scalloped Heart Trinket Box from Italy.

I LOVE Holly Hobby, and found a few lovely vintage plates...

Sugar bowl - Japan

Johann Haviland vintage bell - Bavaria, Germany

Vintage dresser/trinket box.  I wish you could see the details better...

Vintage Salt & Pepper Shakers - Like the trinket box (above) the the glazing is all "crackly" and it makes them look so old and neat!  Again, you just can't really tell from the photo.  Bummer...

Vintage mini-cup and saucer.  So pretty , in person.  -Japan

Okay, that's about all I have time for at the moment.

Have a SUPER Sunday!

A Special Request from "Mrs. Smith"

I was very honored to have received a very special request from a lovely Bride-To-Be this past week.

Never in a million years would I have imagined someone seeing one of my candles and thinking, "That's what I want for my wedding day!"  But, alas! you just never know who will look at something you've created and see something altogether "perfect" and quite differently from how you might look at that same thing yourself.

Life is full of little surprises, and so often we are scarcely (if at all) aware of the hope we bring someone else who admires some "little thing" we have done.  And what's more is the absolute joy we are capable of giving to others when we are willing to have faith in ourselves enough to tackle some task in order to accommodate a small request to make that someone's day.

That happened to me today.  I made someone's day by doing something for them that I feared I'd not be able to accomplish successfully.  Setting my fears and anxieties aside, I set out to do the best I knew how in order to fulfill a most humbling request.  In return, my day was made by this very sweet, overjoyed and extremely gracious soul after I emailed photos of the finished project: A Prim/Grubby Unity Candle Set for the upcoming wedding day of soon to be, "Mrs. Smith".

I did my best to come up with just what she had requested, and I'm happy to say that all my frettin' and worryin' was for naught.  *wink*

She LOVED her Unity Candles, and I was beyond grateful she did.

Congratulations on Your Wedding Day, Mrs. Smith.

FAB FINDS Friday-I'm Back!

Hello there again, friends.  Man!  What a week (or two) it's been!  I feel like I haven't posted in AGES!  I won't bore you with all the details, or "why" I've not been around much, but if you follow me on facebook, you'll know that last week I was just plum tuckered out by the end of the week, and I really just needed a little break.  The prior couple of weeks really took a toll on me, and it was really just time for me to "vegg"-physically and mentally.  *wink*

This week, I've been slacking online, too, but for a completely different reason.  The weather has been so gorgeous that I didn't want to be cooped up inside when there was so much outside that needed to be done, while the blue skies and sunshine lasted!  It's still here, by the way.  Just as gorgeous as ever!

Over the past few days, the family and I have done a lot of work around the yard, mostly in the back yard.  We even prepared our garden beds, and so far, have the organic corn planted, and as of this morning, I have eight (four each) Brandwine tomatoes and Baxter's Cherry Bush tomatoes started.  Due to the whole GMO issue, we've not eaten corn in over a year now!  Yes, it's true, and no, we're not "weird".  Well, a little maybe, but that's just "how we roll."  :P  Anyway, organic corn is hard to come by, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for a tiny bag of frozen at the natural health food stores, and since we're just po' folk, trying to make the best of everything we have, and pinching every penny where it counts, that is just out of the question.  Growing our own organic corn is our only "solution" for now, and we praying for lots of it as last years crop was not a success at all.

So, back to the original purpose of this whole post, and that's to share FAB FINDS Friday, once again.  (So much for not "boring" anyone with details, huh?  Sorry about that...  lol)  The following photos are my fab finds for the past 2 weeks, since last week's was a "no-go."  I hope you will enjoy this week's FAB FINDS and I wish you a very beautiful weekend!

On with "The Show!"

I found 3 new sets of nesting/stacking boxes!  These first ones are "textured" cardboard ones.
These here are also the paper/cardboard ones, but they have "rusty" metal tops.  LOVE THEM!
This set is perfect just the way they are, BUT I can guarantee you they will not look like this anymore when I'm through with them, which could really upset some shabby chic lovers, I suppose.  And by the way, I too love shabby chic, but I'm a grubby girl at heart, so I gotta do what I gotta do, you understand.  *wink*
A couple of fabulous pieces of fabric-very large and prim.
These recipe card covers will be PERFECT for packaging the hand-dipped grubby silicone bulbs I have planned.  :)
Of course, I rummaged for and found a couple more FAB tins!  I just love this one!  So "Spring-y!"

This one is PERFECT!  It's actually a recipe card tin, and another that I will not want to part with so easily, but I can do it, I know I can do it.  ;)

Three different Mason Ball Jars, with lids.

And last, but not least, a great little Hershey's Cocoa vintage-look wall hanger.  I love this thing!
And that's everything for this round!

Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!  Until next time...

TGIF, Ya'll!  :D

"The Back Room"

Rather recently, the ladies down at the Boutique came up with a wonderful idea and they created a great lil' spot inside that has become known as "The Back Room."  It is a nice-sized space just off the end of the first isle (in the back) as you enter the main entrance.  This area is filling up fast with loads of fabulous prim and shabby vintage, antique, and many other "aged" items.  Looks like pure HEAVEN back there.  There are old chairs, cabinets, steamer trunks, pictures, knick-knacks, lamps, shelves, even dolls-you name it!  The old hand-painted shabby chic bistro set that Miranda and I acquired from a very sweet friend (Thanks again, Jodye!) during the holidays is even sitting pretty back there, too.  Today, I took a quick trip down there with hubby to drop off another item for the back room, and got some pictures of it and the bistro set.  I'm just glad to have remembered my camera since we hadn't gotten ANY pictures of that lil' table and chair yet.  Oops!  Meanwhile, I did get additional photos of the back room while we were there.  I'll share.  :)

Here's what I took down today-another "Fab Find" we picked up no more than 2 weeks ago.  :)
1992 "Vermont Cow" 'signed' print from Warren Kimble
(Oh, I shall be keepin' my eyes out for any and all of this famous artist's prim folk art-L♥VE his works!)

And here is our "inherited" shabby bistro set
Hand-painted!  Isn't she a beauty?  It's all rusted and weathered and everything-Love it!
Oh!  And just a lil' reminder...you can click on any of the pics to see a much enlarged view-for details!  :)

(sorry, I just didn't know which pics to use, so... I used 'em all!)
:)

And finally, here are some shots of this and that from "The Back Room."  Ya gotta love this space!

I'm dying to make one of those flags from an old palette.

My hubby wants that old fan.  LOL

Thinkin' I really need that old quilt...  h'mmmm

I love this bike with the basket and flowers...

I really want this piece...AND the red barn bird house sitting there.  :)

Lovin' that ironing board!

That is NOT me!  I swear!  I do NO "crimp" my nose and face up like that when taking pictures!  ...I DON'T!  hehehe

Okay, 'tis all for today, folks.  Thanks for taking the time!
See ya again real soon!

Your "Grubby" Friends,
