New Fab Finds & a Lil' 'Splainin'

Good morning, Prim Friends!
 (The "Splainin'" Part)

I know it's been a very long time since I've posted here on the blog, but if you follow my facebook page, you'll know I've been "away," sick. Yes, "The CRUD" hit our home, and took it's toll on every last one of us, and it did not choose to show even a tidbit of mercy for anyone. Took quite a toll on us all, and "Life" pretty much came to a stand-still as I took care of two sick girls until they were well, then it was the boys' turn.  Two days within the boys coming down with it, it was my turn.  Thank goodness my oldest girl was well by then, or Lord only know how far things would've "went by the wayside," as it was shortly after I began to get sick, hubby also stared coming down with it!  Oh, boy! it was a complete nightmare!  The funny part of it all is that it's so RARE that anyone here ever gets sick, and if so, it may last a day or two (or sometimes three), and then all is well, for the most part, and that's IF anyone catches something going around. This time around, however, was the longest and worst of any illness we ever dealt with; a cold/flu like virus. Good news is, we made it through, and now I am in the process of "getting back to normal" once more -- knock on wood!

~Fab Finds~
(The FUN Stuff)

So, here I am, back to share some "Fab Finds" that I was able to pick up last Sunday during my bargain shopping hunt.  Since I've had no opportunity to craft at home in what seems like FOREVER, I thought maybe I could shop around for anything and everything that caught my eye.  You know, just some "knick-knacks & whatnots" that I could put in my booth to help fill in some empty spaces, and that would perhaps make some nice Mother's Day gifts.  *wink*

It is time for me to get on the craft train again, though, really.  I have tons of wood pieces I could work on getting painted and distressed, and then I have some vague ideas for some other projects, of course.  I will work on what I'm able, AS I'm able and will surely be back to share more as things get done.  For now, here are some photos of the things I picked up last week.  :D

First, remember these really cool metal candle holders I picked up way back when?  Well, I finally decided to do something with them.
...and this is what I came up with:
...I love them.  Picked these lantern "globes" up for some wood wall sconces I painted to discover that they didn't fit... barely.  So, I placed them on the candle holders, LOVED the look and was going to put them in the Shoppe with some grubby tapers inside, but then... taking everything out to the truck yesterday, my daughter accidentally dropped one of the glass covers, and that was the end of that plan... for now!  ;)  That's okay.  I'll get a new matching pair, THEN I'll take them to my booth (or at least TRY to get them there... in one piece).

Okay, so now that I've got that story out of the way, here are the rest of the photos from my "Fab Finds" shopping trip.  :)

*Click photos for enlarged view, remember*
Overall photo...

The lidded Turkey dish was too fab to pass up, though it has a very small hairline crack on one side, it's barely noticeable, and would be great just as a display piece.

I LOVED these when I saw them.  I know they are vintage and made in Taiwan and that's about it.  Wonderful little miniatures!

These two jars/vases with basket stands are originally from Pottery Barn.  I simply added the fabric strip bows to dress them up a bit.

Just a couple of "Old Timey" glass milk jars that I, again, added some fabric bows to, then filled with some dried flowers that I also found on my bargain hunting trip.  :)

Vintages Lead Crystal Scalloped Heart Trinket Box from Italy.

I LOVE Holly Hobby, and found a few lovely vintage plates...

Sugar bowl - Japan

Johann Haviland vintage bell - Bavaria, Germany

Vintage dresser/trinket box.  I wish you could see the details better...

Vintage Salt & Pepper Shakers - Like the trinket box (above) the the glazing is all "crackly" and it makes them look so old and neat!  Again, you just can't really tell from the photo.  Bummer...

Vintage mini-cup and saucer.  So pretty , in person.  -Japan

Okay, that's about all I have time for at the moment.

Have a SUPER Sunday!

Pantry Cakes Smell SOOO Good!

Good Sunday morning, Friends!  It's beautiful, cool, and rainy here in the Pacific Northwest, and I couldn't be happier than a pig wallerin' in mud!  :D  Well, on second thought, actually, I could be happier... if only instead of drizzly rain, it was a nice rain storm, with a lil' thunder and lightning...  now, then I would be as happy, but this weather will surely do!  *wink*

I have quite a few things on my "To Do" list today, including getting several more fabric pun'kins made up, and I'm not real sure what other crafting I may conquer, but hopefully I'll either complete or start something else.  H'mmm...

Currently, I'm fixin' up a batch of Organic Cinnamon/Vanilla Spiced French Toast, topped off with my "famous" homemade syrup, for all the heathens, children.  *wink*  And later today, I sure hope to find time to whip up four more loaves of zucchini bread.  I can always have my Rainy take care of that- she likes to bake as well, and that'll give me a lil' more time at the crafting table, etc.

Well, I should get on with the real purpose of this post: to share my latest YUMMY pantry cakes.  Of course, by "yummy" I do not mean "to the tummy."  These are strictly for "decorative" purposes only, however, boy! do they smell DELICIOUS!  :)  Most of them are simply "Cinnamon Spiced" scent, but there are also a few that are "Hazelnut/Cinnamon Spiced."  I really loved how the finished product turned out, after decorating them up a bit.  ...I sure hope they do well at the shoppe!

So, on with the Pantry Cakes, already, right!?

Honestly, I know the cakes have a "Christmas-y" feel to them, but I really think they "qualify" for year-round decor.  Then again ...as an "afterthought," I wonder if I'm just trying to convince myself of that, or if I really do actually believe it?  H'mmm...  I cannot decide- GO FIGURE!  0_o

Thank you for stopping by, and I'll be doing the same again real soon!  Happy Sunday!  May yours be peaceful and blessed.  ♥

More Fall Goodies n STUFF

Okay, I'm back!  I have to make this post fairly quick, as hubby decided to get a moo-vie from RedBox tonight, and he's adamant about what time to start watching!  LOL

So, here goes, real quick.  These are a couple of projects that I've finished up after I dipped all them candles the other day.  Both the wooden "scoop/shovel" thingy and the wall sconces were GW finds.  And OF COURSE, I forgot to get "before" pictures of either.  They were both pretty much a light-med stained color, like most wood pieces you find second-hand.  I gave them both a base of black, sanded, and "distressed" them.  I didn't finish them off with the walnut stain, because they just looked perfect to me just the way they turned out.  :)

I filled the scoop/shovel (I've got to learn the name of that darn thing) with a bit of yellowy-green-brown moss, and POPCORN, then added 3 of my dirty/grubby votives!  I thought the yellow popcorn would look very "Fall-y" and really like how it turned out.  Then I finished it off with a grubbied-up strip of brown floral fabric, replacing the original leather strip that hung from the handle.

The sconces I painted and distressed in the same manner.  Then I painted up a couple of thin prim wood stars I had on hand with a yellow mustard color.  I rubbed a little almost dry walnut stained cloth over the stars to make them look a bit "smoke smudged" and finally glued them onto the sconces with wood glue.  These were originally taper candle-holders, but I removed the small candle holder from each sconce so that some grubby votives could sit in their place.

(Note* one sconce is shown with grubby votive and one without.  I had to balance the sconces just so in order to get the pics to work out right where the items sat.  The sconce on the right would've fallen over if I tried to put the weight of the votive on top).  :P

So, here are those items:
(please excuse the MANY pics...  you know me!  --->SO indecisive!)
hehe

And lastly, here is my lil' "For Keeps" goodie!  My "Cinnamon-Spiced Citrus" sitting in an olde' wooden dough bowl atop my very "chippy" coffee table in the living room.  ;)

That's all again, until next time!  Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by!  See ya again soon!!!

Nothin' Ever Happens Quite the Way We Plan...

Go figure!
0_o
So, I know I stopped in here a couple of days ago (or was it more like 3 days ago?) and told everyone to "Keep a Look-Out" for some new Fall stuff, right?  Yeah, I know I did.

BUT-
After I downloaded a few pics, then tried to upload them, I discovered they were not filed in my Picasa program, as they usually are, automatically.  So...  Of course, I couldn't have that happening, and decided to wait until I got it all figured out and fixed.  I absolutely refused to resort to another route, when the process has always worked a certain way, up 'til now.  (I'm stubborn like that).

AND THEN-

The next day (yesterday), I HAD to sit down and take care of 2 weeks, plus, of coupon clipping.  (YES, I am also a couponer, among countless other "self-proclaimed titles" and that's part of my problem-always trying to do a GAZILLION things at once-UGH).  So, anyway, what I thought would take only a couple of hours, max, to clip and file away in my binder, took more like 5-5  1/2 hours!  And that was with my eldest daughter's help!  0_0  Bless her heart... if it weren't for her, I'd probably still be sorting, stapling, clipping, and filing.  BLAH!

Needless to say, I've got no other crafting done since Monday, and even then I didn't complete ALL that I had set out to accomplish!  Since I did accomplish some things, though, I'm not gonna wine too much more.  ;)

Finally-
Today, was just plum BUSY, with ALL CAPS!  lol  However, I do have some pics to show you.  Yes, I figured out the Picasa mess, and am a Happy Camper now.  :D  For this post, I'll just share the other German Glass Jar I finished, and then in the post to follow, I will share a couple of other goodies.  Tomorrow, I PLAN to get some more crafting done, and will HOPEFULLY be back again then (or the next day) to share some more.  :)

So, here's the 2nd glass jar/lid I finished up on Monday.   It is also filled with my homemade dried lemons & oranges and cinnamon sticks.  (I call the mix, "Cinnamon-Spiced Citrus." ...kinda "catchy"-I like it!)

See ya soon!
