Review: Milani Color Perfect Lipstick in Rose Hip

What the hell? I never posted a review on this? I mean, that doesn't even make sense considering I even took pictures.. I must have thought I already posted it because I already deleted the pictures >.> So I took new ones today.

Anyway, this is Milani's lipstick in Rose Hip 07. I freaking love this color. Lip swatch + similar colors.

Top to Bottom: Rose Hip, MUFE 36, N.Y.C Blue Rose
So basically Rose Hip is a dupe for MUFE no. 36. Blue Rose is a little too purple. This was the color I was hoping Viva Glam Gaga would be. It's a bright, barbie pink. It's also not sparkly. I would call it a satin finish, but if you pat all the glossy away, it's a matte. It's pink without being too porn star.

Smell: It smells like tea. It's kinda weird, but not offensive.
Wear/Tear: It feels so creamy going on! It's silky and it's pigmented. My lips don't feel dry when wearing it and I feel like it stays for around 5 hours, which is normal for a lipstick.
Packaging:

I like the gold case. It does look a little cheap, but it's okay. It's not really a color you would wear to the office lol. I love the shape of the lipstick! It's multifaceted instead of just being cylindrical! That makes me feel like it's more expensive than it really is :)
Price: Gross at 6.50 at CVS. Luckily, I had some ECBs. You can find it for cheaper (5$) at milanicosmetics.com or amazon or drugstore.com. Places like that.

Recommended: Absolutely hell yes. It's a really wonderful color and I love it. Go out and get it now. K thanks bye.

Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick

FINALLY i have internet. What happened was that outside, the internet box on the wooden post thingie broke. We had a storm and a tree branch fell. Well, with new internet, comes a new blog layout. Yes, the picture of the little girl is me. I didn't just type in "asian baby" in google images and stole a picture. But anyway, here is a new review for you to feast upon.

BTW, thank you Red for telling me how to take a picture of my lips without getting the fish-eye effect!

What they say:

Product Details

Why You'll Love It

Fall in love with color, all over again:
 • Crisper color from pure pigments
 • Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
 • Lipcolor so rich, so stunning…it’s sensational
 • 48 captivating shades

What I say:

Woop Woop, lets get to the nitty gritty.

Swatch: A pinky nude. Basically, MLBB (my lips but better). Was I hoping for this? No. I was hoping for a more concealer color. I think that I'm going to have to go to MAC for this.

Just in case you didn't know, I put it on my bottom lip. It's quite nice. I wanted a beige color. Suggestions? I'm going to have to hit up a MAC store or Sephora sometime soon.

Texture/Smell: For the record, I freaking hate glittery lipsticks. This is not the same for glitter in eyeshadow. I like my lips for be satin or matte finish. I don't like the real "glossy/glitter/I work at a Las Vegas showgirl" look. I think that my lips are kinda huge for an asian person and I don't like to emphasize it. That being said, I think that this is a little glossy for me. It is "moisturizing" as stated in the claims. Err, I don't know if there's "honey nectar" but I'll go with it. If you pat off the oily/glossyness of it with a tissue, it's quite nice.

It goes on smoothly and doesn't emphasize my lip lines. Excellent.

The smell= vanilla+ chemicals= nasty. I hate it when my makeup smells like something. I would prefer a very neutral smell. Like air.

Wearability: It comes off easily with food. When it wears off, it kinda clings to flakes on your lips, so you can peel it off. It's gross actually.

Price: Dumb CVS made it 10.49. Absolutely not worth that. I bought it with a 5$ ECB and a 2$ off coupon.

Recommended: Yes. It is expensive, but with the right coupons, it can be whittled down to size. It's an excellent drugstore lipstick and I like it.

Review: Reviva Lab Products *Super Long*

LOL that's what she said!

.. Sorry. Couldn't refrain. How can I? It's so glaringly obvious! Well, today I bring you a triple review of Reviva Lab products. This seems to be a new-ish skin care company. I have received these products for free, but my opinions are still 100% honest and by mememe. You can access their site here. You can click on their names to get to the product itself :)

What they say: Beautifully sheer, greaseless facial cream moisturizer that's also a beautifully effective SPF #25 protection against sun's damaging rays, wind, heat or cold. When you are outdoors, although you are not sun bathing, your skin still needs protection. But the usual suntan cream is either too heavy or it's not a beautifying moisturizer. So, here's a superb moisturizer that softens, makes skin look dewy fresh, leaves no oily residue and has a special sunscreen. Ideal daily use for the outdoor type, male or female. Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer provides many hours of protection.

Lets get started with the nitty gritty.

Price: I'm starting with price today, because I'm fickle like that. 11 dollars for 1.5 oz. Okay, that's not bad. It seems to be price-wise, a little more expensive than well known drugstore brands.

Packaging: I have problems with this. I like the jar formation, but I don't like how it doesn't close all the way. Don't get me wrong, its closed, but when its all the way closed, the lid doesn't touch the bottom jar. It's like a few millimeters of space away. I don't like that. It's terrifying. Also, I hate the "Reviva Labs" font. I like my fonts to be more "sturdy" like so it looks more professional. Also, I don't like all the little flowers and the green decor. I'm more of a classic, keep it simple kinda girl. But this is all really personal preference right?

Smell/Texture: Super light in texture (yay) and it doesn't feel heavy on the face. My face feels super velvety during the day. I have been using this predominately in the day b/c of the SPF. It doesn't really keep all the flakies away, but it does keep them at bay. It smells like sunscreen. I mean there is no getting around it. However, you do have to like shove your nose into the product to get it. Super Super Super plus mania. Cans I have this in the body lotion form, k, thanks.

Effectiveness: I don't know how much the SPF works because I'm not going to make little patches with this then go tanning. As much as I love blogging, I'm also not walking around with white patches on my face. Just saying. But, it says it has 25 SPF. I'll take that for granted. I haven't had breakouts (yay!) from this. I do have more dry skin, so it isn't the most moisturizing thing in the world. It's much better for normal/oily skin. Aka, it's good for my T-zone/cheeks (normal) but not as good for my eye bags and former acne-d place (super dry and gross flakes).

Recommended: Yes. The price may be a little steep for some, but besides that, it is a good product. I like how it doesn't smell gross and disgusting, how my skin feels and such. yay for life.

Price: 4 dollars for a lipstick tube amount. It's expensive considering how fast I go through these things.
Packaging: Okay, really Reviva Labs? I love the lipstick thing, but there is no flat edge which I don't like. It's a pure bullet shape. I like to have a flat edge on my tub like things. Also, I don't like the whole Maybelline concealer stick packaging with like writing on the clear plastic thing. It cheapens the whole thing. Maybe just a more "chapstick" packaging would be nicer. Just saying.

Smell/Texture: It smells like vitamin E oil. It goes on clear. It sinks in well. Nothing to say in this department.

Effectiveness: This is a miracle product. I'm not even joking. Dear Reviva Labs, I can have a carton of this, k thanks because my left eye flakies are GONE. GONE. GONE. okay. Underneath my eyes, I have such dry skin. I honestly don't even know why. It's just gross there. So, one day, I woke up and saw that my skin there was flaking off.

Not even just crepey. That would actually be a step up. But it was like a blizzard. It's like dandruff. It's gross. I can't even wear makeup because of it. So, I used the stick thing for a week, and it has healed. FINALLY. (note to reader who wanted my previous moisturizer, i will get it sent out this week!!!) It also doesn't give me acne. Also, it's good for your lips. Case Closed.

Recommended: Go out and buy some now. Seriously. Now.

3.  Organic Day Cream with Alpha Lipoic Acid

What They Say: An antioxidant complex featuring Alpha Lipoic Acid. Nourish and soften normal-dry skin and smooth, silkify skin texture ... all as you defend against future damage with our Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamins C, E and Green Tea Antioxidant Complex. Certified organic oils and a wealth of natural nutrients also help fight past damage as they contribute to a healthy glow. Benefits: Promotes elasticity and clarity; helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles; unique defense against future skin damage; for ultimate results supplement our day cream with our Alpha Lipoic Night Cream.

Price: Too expensive at 23 dollars for a few ounces.

Packaging:  Again, same complaints for the jars blahblahblah as before. However, I like how this has this little smaller lid thing that covers the product (inside the big lid). Total approval.

Smell/Texture: It has a really strange consistency. It's like a more liquid petroleum jelly. It smells like fake chocolate and I don't really like it.

Effectiveness: It feels like it should be a super moisturizing cream (too moisturizing for the day), but its not. It feels light, doesn't clog pores, but maybe not moisturizing enough for the driest of dry skins. It doesn't heal flakies, but it does paste them down and keep them at bay once you have conquered them. I actually like this as a night cream because I like my skin to feel velvety at night :)

Recommended: If you have the money, I would think that you are going to spring for a department store brand. But if you want something natural, then I guess you can go for this. For us, normal, not so rich college students, skip this, and go for the other two products mentioned above.

I hope you like these review :)

Review: Korres Guava Lip Butter and quick giveaway update!

So, recently I went on a small shopping trip to Sephora, where I picked up Korres Lip butter in Guava and Tocca blood orange hand cream. I just wanted to do a review on the Korres lip butter because I love this shit. Seriously. Best. Shit. Ever. B.S.E for short. No picture nor swatches because.. well its a freaking lipbalm. No point in swatching right?.

Taken from Sephora.com

Lip Butter
What it is:
A buttery balm that melts onto the lips and cheeks for a pretty touch of color.

What it is formulated to do:
Korres Lip Butter gives lips a lovely, shiny finish and offers a natural flush when applied to the apples of the cheeks. Its shea-butter infusion conditions and heals lips and provides a softening touch to the skin.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens (all)
- Sulfates (all)
- Synthetic Fragrances (Guava, Wild Rose, Quince, Pomegranate)
- Synthetic Dyes (Wild Rose, Quince, Pomegranate)
- Petro-Chemicals (all)
- GMO (all)

There are a bunch of different colors. I have Guava, which is the clear one.

Packaging: I don't like the double layer of "boxes" that it comes in. One is enough. Also you don't know what color you're getting really. If I did know that they were colored, I would have chosen Pomagrante instead of Guava. I though that they were just smells! Besides that, it is a pot lip butter, which may turn some people off because of the potential "unsanitary" situation. As long as you're the only person dipping your fingers in, and as long as you don't like scratch your butt or use the bathroom beforehand, you should be fine.

Smell: No offensive smells there. I like the buttery smell. But it's not really overpowering.

Wear and Tear: This is really moisturizing. I use it day and night after showering/washing my face and my lips are so smooth. Before they were really gross and peeling because of the wind, but now they're so great. My lipstick also looks pretty good. You do need to wait a while for it to really sink in because it stays on your lips for a while. I have to wipe off the excess before I put on lipstick in the morning.

Price: Ten. fucking. dollars. It's expensive. You can get the trio for 19.50 (usually retails at 30$ if bought seperately) but still, 10 dollars for a lip balm? It's very expensive considering burts bees is 3.49 or chapstick is like 1 dollar. I suggest that you buy it only when its on sale, when you need a few dollars to get free shipping, Sephora F&F sale etc.

Recommended: Hell yeah. Besides the expensive price, its an amazing product. Personally, I might forgo some other things like eyeshadow so I can pick one up without killing my budget.

Update on my giveaway: I will be adding the Victoria's Secret Secret Charm Shimmer Lotion to the prize giveaway because I hit 110 followers! EOTD+ Review: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude

Hey sweeties! Tomorrow, I'm expecting a swap to come in, so I'll post pictures of that. I hate to say this, but I'm going to be ending the string of reviews on a sour note. Today's review item in the spotlight is going to be.. Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude. Let me tell you, I was so excited to get this lipstick! When i saw the 3 dollars off coupon in People's Magazine (or US whatever), I nearly crapped in my pants and I ripped off the entire page. Plus, this week, it was a BOGO half of Revlon products at CVS, so my sister and I got something. I used the 3 dollars off and a 2 dollar CVS extrabucks to reduce the total price of the lipstick to 3.50. I pay half, my sister pay half.

What Revlon Says:
Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel-Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin
-Available in range of 20 gorgeous shades

What I say:

I was actually going to try this out for a week, but no. Let's start with some high points. First off, the cap matches the lipstick. Since you can't see the lipstick in the case, obviously your (or at least my) first instinct is to prowl around the internet to see if some other adventurous lady has bravely purchased the lipstick without seeing the bullet. But, the cap color seriously matches the lipstick color. Secondly, the case feel nice becuase of the quilting. But I don't understand why it's only on 2 of the sides? Is it becuase Revlon ran out of money to print the other two sides with a quilt pattern? I don't know, and frankly, I don't care.

The feel of the lipstick, intially was good. It felt like a creamy concealer. After using the Revlon Colorstay Soft and Smooth though, I was dissapointed. Even my N.Y.C lipsticks were more slippy than this colorburst, but it's only going to get worse.

The color selection is quite excellent. I wanted to try the fuschia one out, but you know, when am I going to use that? It would just be for novelty purposes.

The smell is slightly off. It smells like fake cupcakes, but it's pretty faint.

The color pigmentation is opaque and covers even the most pigmented lips. I love the peach nudeness of it. However, it seems to enjoy accentuating flakes that I didn't even know existed and leave inner lip rings. Like you get this white ring on the inside of your lips if you reapply too much. Also, if you do reapply too much, you get the stuff caking up in your lip wrinkles/invisible flakes. That's quite a Catch-22 considering the staying power is bascially 3 hours before you have to reapply.

And I know I mentioned the adherence to flaking right? Well, at the beginning of the day, my lips were smooth, but by mid afternoon, I realized that the lipstick that I reapplied at around 10 has faded and my lips were so chapped, it was digusting. As much as I would have loved to take pictures, I don't want you ladies to faint at the sheer disgustingness of it. Seriously, there were flakes falling off. when I scrubbed my lips with a piece of toilet paper to take off the lipstick, flakes were just falling off. It was like a winter blizzard. Luckily, I had a backup lippie (Neutrogena Moistureshine) that matched my eyemakeup and I put that on. For some reason, after I put that lippie on, my flakes were smoothed over.

I guess if you have glass-like smoothness lips, this is a product for you! How ironic is that the colorstay lipstick was like butter, and didn't dry my lips out, while this was like hell.

The price tag is quite dissapointing as well. It retails for 8.99 at CVS and other mass retailers. I know that this isn't as bad as Neutrogena Moistureshine (9.99), but this is a drugstore product. I felt that this time, Revlon probably put more money into matching the cap color and the bullet color than in actually formulating a good lipstick. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy and therefore, I cannot recommend this to you ladies. You are better off getting a cheap Wet and Wild lipstick for a dollar. Hell, save 9 dollars and get 9 lipsticks!

Toodles. And tell me something. I'm actually looking for a faux leather jacket. How much do you ladies recommend spending on it?

Review: Revlon Colorstay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor

Hello ladies! So, I had the opportunity to get a Revlon lipstick through swapping yay! I posted swatches in the post before, so if you want a quick swatch of this, just click on the post before this post!

My chosen color: Natural Cashmere- a corally peach color. On drugstore.com, it looks as if it is a nude pink, but on me, it looks corally peach.

Claims: Lipstick so soft and smooth you won't believe it's long-lasting. Hours and hours of luscious, feel good color in one smooth step. Available in a wide range of beautiful shades

What I say:

First off, let's start with the pros. This stuff feels like cupcake frosting or spreadable butter on your lips. It smells kind of like frosting actually, but I don't notice the smell, and to smell something, I have to practically shove the tube up my nostril. Seriously though, I expected something more hard or unspreadable because it is "colorstay".

The lipstick goes on opaque (at least this color does) which is good for ultra pigmented lip girls (like me!). The finish of this lipstick is like a satin. It does look a bit matte, but there are ULTRA FINE sparkles in it which make it not a matte. If you like a shiny finish, you better get a gloss on there.

Feel-wise, it doesn't feel drying at all! It feels like nothing is on your lips because after one minute or so, it "sets". This means that it kind of dries on your lips so that when you brush your fiinger against your lips, you don't get transfer. Meaning, no lip rings on cups! yay!

For the cons, although it doesn't feel drying, it looks drying because it has this matte-like finish. Also, it really clings. I mean, it's a real pain to get off. I was in the shower, washing my face and I used the St.Ives apricot scrub to scrub my lips (to exfoliate). I get out of the shower, and the lipstick was still there! True story!

Do I recommend this? As a color, yes and as a product, yes. It retails at prices ranging from 4.35 at Amazon.com to around 10 dollars at CVS.

Swatch-fest and Some Recent Updates

Someone really needs to tell me how to make titles that are interesting because I'm scared that if I make something too wacky people will be like "uhm....... not reading this" becuase I know that I do that. I have so many blogs to read that I kinda skim and look for stuff I want to read. LOL.

Today isn't a tutorial because I've run out of things to do a tutorial about! AHHH! But, instead I've been wallowing in work and listening to k-pop. Yesterday I also made a visit to Upenn, the school that I was deferred from. But I'm still hopeful! Okay, no more boring stuff, time to get to work here

I got the Too Faced: Decade of Glamour- Beauty Wardrobe palette from.... Too Faced obviously (it was self-explanatory in the name) for the holidays from my friend. I loves her forever. I was surprised that some of the stuff in here debuted in 1998... I mean, I'm sure they just remade some becuase they still have the formulas. Whatever, I'm sure some of you guys out there have stuff from 5 years ago that you still use.

I love how it has a thing protecting the lip products from the eye and face products. Not that I'll ever finish the face products. The lip stuff are actually good sized samples (?) and I'll never finish them. BUT, i hate how the whole thing is humungo. It's not like I can just stick it in my purse. If I do and I want to reapply makeup in school, it's like OMG, CLEAR THE PREMISES! PLEASE GIVE HER SPACE! Seriously. It's not like a small thing. This is huge.

Also, do you see the "eyeliner"? The thing is laughably small. It's smaller than a mini mascara. This is how it compares to a reg. eyeliner. I think that Too Faced could have coughed up some more money for a larger eyeliner. In the packaging there is still 1 or more inches left above the eyeliner. And why black? Why not a different color? Why not just scrap the useless thing in the first place and just put more eyeshadows? My gawd. And the lip injection that's the size of a mini mascara? That's FULL SIZED. full sized my ass. That's like a key chain lipgloss for 13 year olds. Enough, onward

Here are the swatches:

Special Thanks to Mika at Beautysnap.blogspot.com for telling me about the tulip thing to make pictures sharper! I finally found it LOL.

Ruby Lipstick!

Hello ladies! This is going to be a very short post! Today, I bought a sheer red lipstick. It's called Ruby by N.Y.C

Swatch:

It's more of a Pink-Red then just a red. If you blot it a lot, it gives a nice berry-ish stain.
Alert! There are just a couple more days to enter my contest! If you or someone you know would like to enter, let them know!

Drugstore Lipstick: Violet Shine

Hello hello ladies, how are you today? So, I decided on a whim to pick up a NYC lipstick. The one that I got was Ultra Moist Lipwear. It comes with a round cap and it doesn't twist all the way down. Like you can see the tip and thats annoying. But more on that later. I'm actually quite impressed with the color. It is NOT the strange violet you see on the website. It's more of a berry pink color.

The color is definately my color. It's basically, my lips plus some berries. I love it. The smell is definately a plus. I'd classify it as a fruit ish smell, but you can't smell it unless you shove the thing into your nostril, which is not something I'd recommend doing. After Rimmel's lipstick, this is much better.
I don't believe that it's very moisturizing at all. I feel like it sinks into your lips, but still manages to get that lipstick bit onto a glass cup. But besides that, I'd call it almost transfer proof, if that even makes any sense. My lips feel dry, instead of moistureized. I'd recommend using a chapstick on top or underneath. Have I mentioned that this is only 99 cents? Much better.
What I really hate is the fact that the lipstick doesn't twist all the way down. A little tip is present. It's good that you can see it, but it's really easy to smush the tip when you're in a hurry and you close the tube badly. Like it's so easy to just take the cap and slice the tip in half. This will have to be melted down... after I get a lipbrush.
Also, i hate how the top is jiggly. Like it can fall off at any minute. Again, I recommend melting it down into a better and more secure jar. You'll save your belongings and lipstick that way.
I'm not too crazy about the non-moisturizing ness but I'll deal with it.
In the end, I definately recommend this, which is surprising because I've tried this brand before. The eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow kinda sucked. I hated them. The only reason why I picked this up is because on Makeupalley, people seem to like this.... I dont' know. It's so much better than Rimmel with it's play-doh-ey smell. Save your 5.50 and get 5 of these instead.

Rimmel Airy Fairy

Before we get started, I would like to say the URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION now has a BENT wand.
I think that i would like to try this out for myself =]. I currently am using Lumene eyebase (discontinued in the USA). I'm not too happy with it, but whatever.
Rimmel Airy fairyyy.... I'm sold on the color. Everyone seems to like birthday suit, but I don't like the colors. I saw swatches, and they looked too orange for me. This is a nice mauvy pink color. It goes on super sheer. What it claims:
Locks colour to lips for up to 8 hours wear. 50% more colour. Soft, smooth, comfortable formula.

What I say: I'm really skeptical when anything claims stuff like 16 hr wear! Last though breakfast, lunch, dinner whatever! Especially lipsticks and drugstore stuff. Aka Covergirl's long lasting lip color thing. No. just no. i mean the outlast lipstains lasted for 1 hr, the eyeliners sucked. So yeah.... I mean 8 hrs is okay for a drugstore claim. Its not outrageous (think maybelline 9x volume?! I don't believe it). It lasts for 4 hours, with 2 meals in between. That's not that bad actually. But, its not transfer proof at all. It comes off on my lipgloss.

50% more color? I wouldn't know. I dont own the old ones. It is soft, smooth and comfortable... except for the smell. THE SMELL IS DISGUSTING. Like good thing that its not long lasting at all. It's a mix between playdoh, vanilla frosting and some fake fruit stuff that you find on old people. Isn't that gross? You need a lipgloss to cover that up. wow. But it goes away after a while, it has redeemed itself. not really. ==
Swatch/ color:
In all, I'm mildly impressed by the quality. You expect these drugstore stuff to be horrible. It's only 5.50 (as compared to something like 14.50 at MAC or Clinique). I'm not EAGER to try all the other colors, but if I see something I like, i'll try it.
