PLAYING PAPER DOLLS AGAIN!

Today I have a few quick things to share.  The first is a tag for the mother of one of the gals in a group I belong to.  She has developed dementia and this is a subject dear to my heart as I went through it with my Mom.  We were told bright colors to catch her attention as well as blue being her favorite color.

Here is what I came up with -
This is Audrey -
Julie Nutting's 1950's decade doll.

Next is another attempt at Pocket Art.  This is for a Winter Themed Page Swap over at Robin's Scrap Nest.  The doll I chose for this page is Valentina!

And here are a few close-ups!

Along with the page swap event there is going to be an optional game for those that wanted to create another pocket page. For this one I got to use one of my newest stamps from Julie's latest collection which all have a beach theme.  I also entered this page in a challenge at Paper Doll Trading for using a 1950's theme.  This is Suzi!

and the close-ups!

Hope you have enjoyed my doll shares today!
Hopefully I will find a spot to create more soon!

All comments gratefully appreciated!

MISSING SUMMER ALREADY........and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR A FRIEND

Although the cold hasn't really hit us yet, and Autumn can be such a beautiful season I am truly a summer gal and I am already missing my flip flops, shorts and a trip to the beach. Yesterday I created a tag as my tribute to summer.

Over at Paper Doll Trading they are having an event called Star Doll.  You needed to create any project you wanted using a paper doll and the theme beach.

I just love Sea Sallie and was so happy to have an opportunity to use her again.  I went for lots of textures on this one...sequins, embossing, glitter, sand!  so much fun!

Here she is!

check out all the different textures -

sand!

 sequins!

 glitter!

 embossing!

I hope this brought you back some
fond summer memories
to keep you warm when the winter arrives!

And now for my card -

A good friend that I haven't seen in years is having a birthday on the 16th.  We're going to get together for Thanksgiving this year but I thought it would be fun to mail him an actual card rather than just the usual online birthday greeting.

I used Mojo Monday Sketch #419-

and here's the card!

now all I need is the address
for the envelope...LOL!

I am also entering this card in The Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge Autunmn Colors and Twine.
and
Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #331
Forest Friends (inspired by the colors)

Happy Birthday Dale!

SURF'S UP!!!

Have you ever seen the fun movie Surf's Up?

Several years ago I had a job doing merchandising for Sony.  They often treated us to copies of the movies that we were placing.  This was one of the ones I received.  My younger son absolutely loved it and we watched it several times. He is now 16 and we don't have as much time or inclination to watch the many animated films we own on DVD.  A few weeks ago he decided we should pull this one out again and watch it together.

I had recently been catching up on scrapping some old beach photos from 1996.  It was fun getting to play with my new Echo Park collection 'Splash!'

These photos are not of my movie buddy but of my eldest.

Here is my layout -

Here are some fun close-ups~

I know that you can see that the entire layout is beach themed but I also included some actual parts of the beach - here are some real shells.

(They are a part of a fun new product called Mudd Puddles!)

Don't you love that great swirl of water?

How about those cute little fishies?

and finally cute little Robert!
(this photo and the caption are on
pop dots for a bit of added dimension!)

So I hope you have enjoyed my Surf's Up
blast from the past.

I am going to enter this layout into this week's showcase at 2 Creative Chicks and Anything Goes challenge #194 at Word Art Wednesday and Tinker-Dream challenge #31 Summer and Anything Goes challenge #1 at A Bit More Time to Craft

All comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks for stopping by!

BUILDING SANDCASTLES!

I have another fun layout to share with you today from one of our beach trips back in 1996.  This is my sample page for challenge UUS20 that I am hosting over at Soul Scrappers.  It is for using up our scraps - and this month we are using diecuts.  I was so excited to get to use these particular diecuts as I received them in a swap I participated in at a Yahoo Group that I was in called KroppinKids.

Here is the layout -

and here is a close-up of the super cute diecuts -

and some other fun close-ups

this cute little guy is now 22!  It's my eldest son Robert...

Here we are relaxing when Robert tells us it's time to build a sand castle.

and HERE is our castle!

And, the papers are also from the fun Echo Park collection "SPLASH"!

I hope that you have enjoyed this blast from the past and will pull out some diecuts of your own and join in my challenge.

A DAY IN THE PARK! A LAUGH! MORE FROM THE BEACH 1996! and A PROMISE!

Last weekend Thomas found this punk show he wanted to see in a big park in Philadelphia.  It was a beautiful day so I grabbed a pad of watercolor paper and a bunch of mediums to play with.

Here's a bit of what came out of my afternoon... (please remember that I do NOT have any raw drawing talents so this was actually a big deal!)

THE PARK

This was the spot I ended up sitting in...

Watercolor crayons

Derwent Inktense blocks

THE LAUGH!

And now I have a funny to share -

Is this not simply THE cutest?

THE BEACH!

My first layout uses sketch #44 from
Make It Monday at The Memory Nest

I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn to the left, and I used 2 photos instead of 3 because of their orientation.

and a few close-ups -

A PROMISE!

My next layout is for the design team call over at Let's Get Sketchy!

So first I will tell you a little bit about the call in case you also want to submit a creation of your own. Let's Get Sketchy is a sketch blog owned by Brenshevia Baker, previously owner of the Ning site Colorful Creations.   She is very talented and a lot of fun to work with.  As a DT on this site you will need to complete 2 layouts per month, comment on all entries to the challenges and post the challenges on your blog.

Full details can be found in the post at: http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com/2015/07/lets-get-sketchy-design-team-call.html?spref=fb

There were 2 sketches to choose from. Here is the one I deciced to use.

and here is my layout -

and a few close-ups -

I loved this saying and thought it was perfect... after all, not many of us get to truly enjoy a really rainy day...but getting an opportunity to see this most spectacular rainbow reminded me that if you are not ready to enjoy all your minutes you could miss out on something as amazing as this rainbow!

The circle was cut from a wonderful clear acrylic sheet with tiny lavender dimensional dots.

Here you can see the 2 fun embossing folders I used if you can pull your eyes away from that spectacular rainbow!

Truly a PROMISE from God.

I am also entering this layout in
Word Art Wednesday challenge #192.
