Russia accused of sending 500 drones over Denmark

Newsmax: Denmark was thrown into turmoil after more than 500 possible drone sightings were reported in just 24 hours, forcing airports to close and fueling fears across Europe of coordinated Russian hybrid attacks, the Daily Mail reported . Police said they have yet to verify the 500 reports but urged citizens to remain alert and provide detailed descriptions. The wave of sightings followed back-to-back disruptions at Copenhagen, Aalborg, and Billund airports this week, grounding flights and leaving thousands stranded. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen described the incidents as "the work of a professional actor" and labeled them a "hybrid attack." He said the incursions targeted not only airports but also Skrydstrup air base, home to Denmark's fleet of F-16 and F-35 fighters, and a military site in Holstebro. "There can be no doubt that everything points to this being the work of a professional actor when we are talking about such a systematic ...

Trump determined to get Greenland

Newsmax: The Danish foreign minister on Saturday scolded the Trump administration for its "tone" in criticizing Denmark and Greenland, saying his country is already investing more into Arctic security and remains open to more cooperation with the U.S. "We'll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%," Trump told NBC News in an interview. He added there is a "good possibility that we could do it without military force" but "I don’t take anything off the table." Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen responded in a video posted to social media after Vice President JD Vance's visit to the strategic island. But Trump responded later Saturday. "Many accusations and many allegations have been made. And of course we are open to criticism," Rasmussen said speaking in English. "But let me be completely honest: we do not appreciate the tone in which it is being delivered. This is not how you speak to your close allies. And I still consider Denmark a...

Republicans support Trump's Greenland play

Fox News: President-elect Donald Trump's House GOP allies are clearing the runway for him to make good on his vow to acquire Greenland. Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., is leading a bill to authorize Trump to enter negotiations with Denmark over purchasing Greenland, a territory located in North America but with longstanding cultural and geopolitical ties to Europe. The bill is titled the "Make Greenland Great Again Act," according to a copy of its text obtained by Fox News Digital. "Joe Biden took a blowtorch to our reputation these past four years, and before even taking office, President Trump is telling the world that America First is back. American economic and security interests will no longer take a backseat, and House Republicans are ready to help President Trump deliver for the American people," Ogles told Fox News Digital. ... Meanwhile, the idea of buying Greenland has gained traction with Trump's Republican allies, with supporters of the idea noting ...

US choppers kill Houthis attempting to board ship

American Action News: U.S. Navy helicopters killed an unspecified number of Houthi militants and sunk three of their boats in self defense early Sunday after the Yemen-based rebels fired at troops coming to the aid of a commercial ship, the military said. Iranian-backed rebels aboard four small boats attacked the Singapore-flagged, Denmark-owned and operated Maersk Hangzou for the second time that day, firing crew-served and small arms weapons at the commercial ship’s crew and attempting to board, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement. While responding to the Hangzhou’s distress call, U.S. helicopters from the nearby aircraft carrier and destroyer came under fire themselves, destroying three of the boats and sending the fourth to scramble away. The incident is the first time the Pentagon has confirmed Houthi militants directly targetd American military personnel. “U.S. helicopters from the USS EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and GRAVELY (DDG 107) responded to the distress call ...

Denmark official jailed for opposing pedophile 'marriages'

Legal Insurrection: Denmark’s Ex-Immigration Minister Gets Jail Sentence for Ordering Separation of Child Brides From Their ‘Husbands’   BBC: “The verdict cannot be appealed and the jail sentence is unconditional, meaning that it must be served.” This sentence appears to be a cruel and unusual punishment for protecting child brides.

Doctors in Denmark do study challenging efficacy of cloth face masks

Jazz Shaw: New Study On Wearing Cloth Face Masks: Protection Is “Statistically Insignificant” ... ...    They determined that while a cloth mask can definitely reduce transmissions from infected people to others, any protection provided by them to the uninfected is “statistically insignificant.” Of course, that didn’t stop the New York Times  from doing backflips  in an effort to call the validity of the study into question. ... ...  First of all, the participants were all given   surgical masks   to wear. While not as good as a medical-grade N95 mask, those are still thicker and designed to better fit your face than the vast majority of decorative cloth face masks most of us are wearing. And even with surgical masks, the number of people who were infected in the study was only 0.3% lower than among those wearing no mask at all. The one thing everyone seems to agree on is the fact that a person who is infected and symptomatic can reduce (not el...

Israel helping other countries fight terrorism

Jerusalem Post: Mossad helps Denmark bust 20 terrorists - report In July, Mossad Director Yossi Cohen noted that his agency has thwarted a large number of terror attacks, especially on airliners, across the world. Israeli intelligence is helping others to make the world a safer place and defeat Islamic terrorists.

A retreat from insults over Greenland?

Washington Post: Trump, Danish leader had ‘constructive’ call after war of words, both U.S. and Denmark say Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen earlier called the president’s idea of buying Greenland “absurd”; Trump called that “nasty.” A more normal response to an offer to buy is "No thanks."  That is what Trump meant when he said Frederiksen's response was nasty by calling the proposal "absurd."  The proposal certainly was not absurd from the US perspective and it is one that could be mutually beneficial.

The Nazi leader who saved the Danish Jews

BBC: The tip-off from a Nazi that saved my grandparents This is a long piece about how many Danish Jews escaped to Sweden before a Hitler ordered purge.  The high ranking Nazi told several people in the Jewish community about the coming purge and it gave them time to hire boats to take them across the water to Sweden. ... When the extent of the failure of the round-up became apparent, Hitler telegrammed Best ordering him to explain himself. He responded that he had done as he had been ordered - he had made Denmark Judenrein. ... Not only was it a humane move, but it was also shrewd because to do as he had been ordered would have sparked greater resistance in Denmark and deprived Germany of food needed for its war effort.

Resisting Muslim culture is not racisim

NY Times: ‘I’ve Become a Racist’: Migrant Wave Unleashes Danish Tensions Over Identity The thousands of Muslim asylum seekers pouring into Denmark have spawned a backlash, and questions over whether the country has a latent racial hostility at its core. Rejecting the failed Muslim culture is not racism anymore that resisting the failed Soviet communism culture was racism.  Much of the Muslim world is imploding and the problem begins when the Muslim refugees try to bring their failed culture with them.  If the Muslim who are coming to Europe were willing to accept the European culture there would not be as much of a backlash to their presence. The problem comes with their rape culture and sexual assaults on women who do not wear a sack over their head.  It also comes from their support of the mass murder for Allah attacks.  That is the kind of thing that makes people wary of your being there.

Danes bust four ISIL suspects

Reuters: Denmark arrests four suspected IS recruits returning from Syria They were caught with weapons and ammo.  They are being charged with "allowing themselves to be recruited" by ISIL.

More of Europe seeks to control refugee hoard

NY Times: Sweden and Denmark Tighten Border Controls The moves to stem the flow of migrants represented another step in the erosion of the ideal of borderless travel across most of the European Union. The two join some of the Eastern European countries in trying to control their borders.  More and More Obama is isolated as a proponent of open borders as the rest of world tries to deal with the fallout from his failed Middle East policies.

Entry fee required for welfare state

Washington Post: Denmark wants to seize jewelry and cash from refugees If you have to pay to be on the dole in socialist country that Bernis Sanders says he wants to emulate.

Denmark retreats from regressive green energy policy

Daily Caller: ... Denmark currently has some of the highest electricity prices in the world at 41 cents per kWh. Electricity in Denmark is almost four times more expensive than in the United States. Impoverished citizens in the lowest Danish income brackets spend about 8.9 percent of their total budget on electricity. The poorest citizens in neighboring Sweden, which doesn’t subsidize green energy to the same extent, spend only 3.6 percent of their household budget on electricity. The lowest income brackets in the United States spend a mere 2.9 percent of their household budget on electricity. The high price of electricity in Denmark means many citizens can’t afford the electricity required to meet day to day living requirements. Raising electricity prices has a massively regressive impact, harming low-income individuals far more than wealthy ones. Poorer, working-class people tend to spend a higher proportion of their income on basic needs like electricity and fuel than the wealt...

Bernie Sanders' socialist fantasies

Washington Post: Why Denmark isn’t the utopian fantasy Bernie Sanders describes The taxes are the highest in the world, the quality of free education and health care is substandard and there's consensus that its economic model is unsustainable, says a British journalist who has lived there for 10 years. In other words  Denmark is typical of the inefficiencies imposed on society by socialism,  It means a rationing of services that stifles competition for business which creates the innovation that you see in the US from energy to technology.

Bernie Sanders picks a country that is more capitalistic than the US to emulate

Kevin Williamson: Bernie Sanders’s Denmark love is another reminder that our Democratic friends, who imagine themselves to be worldly cosmopolitans more at ease with sophisticated European ways, don’t actually know a damned thing about what’s going on overseas. For those of you who are keeping score, the Heritage Foundation, which literally keeps score, rates Denmark’s economy as slightly more free – slightly more capitalistic — than that of the United States. Denmark is in a rough spot just lately, but it has been undergoing a series of deep and intelligent reforms to its welfare state (as have many of the other Northern European countries) to counteract the ill effects of earlier excesses. Its corporate-income tax is much lower than that of the United States. Its regulatory environment is in many ways more free. It is very free-trade oriented. ... There is more. Denmark does have high taxes which Democrats apparently like.  The fact is socialism is a failed ideology tha...

Misleading headline of the day

Sunday Independent: Denmark produces 140 per cent of its electricity needs through wind power They picked an outlier day for their headline.  Buried near the bottom of the story is this: ... Wind power is already responsible for 29 per cent of the electricity generated there. While coal is still the main energy source in Denmark, the country is still one of the world leaders in renewable energy production. The story is really about the intermittent nature of alternative energy.

Copenhagen killer swore allegiance to ISIL

Image
Daily Mail: 'Our purpose is to destroy you. We will come to you with slaughter and death': Lone wolf fanatic swore allegiance to ISIS on Facebook moments before killing two in Copenhagen terror attack Abo Saddam (pictured) said that Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein, was not the same person when he left jail just two weeks before he shot two people dead in Copenhagen. He also tried to mimic the MO of the Paris mass murderers.  He acted like he was warped by radical Islam. Ms. Harf, it does not sound like he was looking for a job.

Two arrested on charges of helping Copenhagen shooter

BBC: Danish police have accused two men of helping the gunman who murdered two people in separate attacks in Copenhagen. The suspected gunman, named by Danish media as Omar El-Hussein, 22, was shot dead by police after he attacked a free speech debate and a synagogue. A film director and a Jewish man were killed and five police wounded. The two men are charged with providing and disposing of the weapon, as well as with helping the gunman to hide. ... This may give police an opportunity to learn what ties if any the shooter had with radical Islamist.  While the two deny the charges, it would appear that the shooter was not entirely a "lone wolf."

Alleged killer in Denmark had Muslim name

Haaretz: ... The suspected gunman was a Danish-born 22-year-old known to police because of past violence, gang-related activities and possession of weapons, police said in a statement on Sunday. According to Danish media, the suspect's name is Omar El-Hussein, and he was only recently released from jail, after serving a sentence for aggravated assault. Police haven't confirmed the name. ... I suspect that his actions may have had something to do with his interpretation of Islam.  There seems to be something about this religion that makes some people want to kill.
