Sweetheart Vignette Panel - Idea-ology 2024

This is the first thing I made with the Tim Holtz Idea-ology 2024 release. This Idea-ology release was worth the wait wasn't it?! This Vignette Display Journal features many of the new products including the Paper Doll Poses, Cello Sticker Tape. Sweetheart Adornments, Photo Studio Layers and Paper Strips.

Of course I have a video tutorial of how I made this piece. As with any Idea-ology project, it is a longer video because they are much more involved than a card. That being said, this project was made keeping beginners in mind. So if you are a beginner who has wanted to try to make an Idea-ology project, this one is a good place to start and I hope this tutorial makes it easy to follow.

I love the bits of Cello Sticker Tape. So good!
The Sweetheart Adornments are fabulous!
Just adding that little bit of stenciling over the Photo Studio cards softened it so much.
More stenciling and Cello Sticker Tape. I also colored the car hub caps with Distress Watercolor Pencils.
And I colored the couple with Distress Watercolor Pencils as well. The flowers are Bouquet and I show in the video how to make them smaller for the paper doll.
I also show how to stencil on the cards, how to attach the cards and how to add Distress Crayon to the cards.

I also show how to color the metals, and cover the Etcetera Facade and the trim.  And do you see that little bit of vintage retired Tim Holtz Idea-ology lace peeking through at the top?

I hope you like this Sweetheart Panel as much as I do. If I didn't cover something in the video tutorial, please feel free to ask me in the contact me section in the right column. I cannot respond directly to a comment on the blog so If you ask a question in the comments here, you probably won't get an answer.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Links to all the products are below for easy shopping.
Have a creative day!

Concealed in the Cobwebs

A Vignette Box with a mysterious paper doll. What is her story? Find out in this tutorial. I made this vignette for the Tim Holtz Halloween Idea-ology 2023 release. My aim was to make a few pieces that were something beginners and intermediate makers could attempt. I hope this video tutorial inspires those who are newer to Vignette making and that those who have made a few to get that Halloween Idea-ology out and to start making. There is still plenty of time to make for the Halloween season!

Here is a video tutorial. I will put the index breaks in it soon.

Etcetera Tile Tombstone

Here is the second project I made using the new Mosaic Etcetera Tiles from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous. The entire Etcetera line is really affordable, convenient and makes creating adorable projects a breeze. I had a great time making with them. This project uses another Etcetera product, the Small Tombstone Overlay, as well as product from the 2022 Halloween Idea-ology release. In the video tutorial, I do share some ideas for using some of this year's Halloween Idea-ology, which wasn't released when I made the sample in my video, so I added a segment after the release.

If you have any questions after watching the tutorial I happy to try and answer any questions to try and help. the best way to contact me is through the contact section in the right hand column.
I thought this dapper gentleman looked like an older version of the man in the frame at the top of the tombstone. I felt this section could tell his story from that young, esteemed man to the older gentleman who eventually met his demise.
I went around each tile with some Distress Crayon in Walnut Stain or Ground Espresso on my waterbrush to accentuate the cracks inbetween the tiles and also to color the grit paste in the corners and along the edges so the tombstone looked old and weathered.
I covered the tiles with Distress Wallpaper Scraps from the Halloween 2022 release. I think they are such beautiful papers and I love the floral pieces and strips included!
I only used the small part of the bottom of the Tombstone Overlay since the tiles were a bit larger than the tag base so the larger part at the bottom looked funny. This little bottom piece was perfect and I added a metal feather signifying him being a pharmacist/chemist who wrote prescriptions and things a lot.
This story using the Clippings Stickers from the Halloween Sticker Book tells the story of how he went from an eccentric but estimable man to going crazy.
This shows the bottom part of the tombstone as well as some of the ephemera I layered behind the paper doll.

This shows the upper bits of the layers I included behind the paper doll. Like I said above, in the video gave some ideas for choosing ephemera and layering it behind him.

As always, I hope you found something in the tutorial or post for this project that inspires you to want to create something in your own style.

Springtime Makes #4

These are the few spring time makes from 2022. There were really only two that I made with Easter in mind. The rest I made with flowers and plants. I was really into flowers and plants last spring.

As with the other spring makes posts, if you click the title of each make below it will take you directly to the tutorial for that make. Enjoy!

Birdhouse Basket

Idea-ology 2022

This Idea-ology make can be two things, both a decor piece and an Easter basket for an adult.

 Foundry Wax Faux Mercury Glass

Ranger Ink 2022

This spring make was first to showcase the new Foundry Wax with a faux mercury glass technique, but became a lovely spring decor piece.

Choose to Shine

Sizzix 2022

The adorable Birds thinlits and Funky Stems release last spring were destined to be together. I loved them! So I made them into a fun spring mini accordion card.

Doily Easter Cones

Sizzix 2022

This was the only other make that was specifically for Easter. I used the 3D Doily to make thee place setting cones you can fill with candies for your guests.

Be Fearless

Stampers Anonymous 2022

This card used some lovely spring colors with the new Stampers Anonymous realase from last spring.

Flower Pots

Stampers Anonymous

Like I said, I was really into fake plants last spring and wanted to use the new Stampers Anonymous stencils to make planters for my new fake plants. I'm using them again this year!

Floral Elements Cards

Stampers Anonymous 2022

Another couple of cards that I made using the stamps released last spring from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous.

Thanks again for stopping by and taking another look at some spring makes from the past.

I hope you have a very creative day!

Faux Sugar Eggs

Hello procrastinated project! I have been working on these faux sugar eggs in my mind since back in January when I first saw the Idea-ology Salvaged Rabbits and Tiny Eggs. I bought the supplies then, but I let one of the techniques get into my head and I got a bit intimidated and kept putting this off. I finally decided that time was up, Easter was upon us, and I had to get it done. So I jumped in and it was so fun. I hope you will come along with me and give faux sugar eggs a try.
Here is my video tutorial. If you have been following my tutorials for very long, you know that I try to be thorough and explain as much as I can. This video is no exception. It's just over 30 minutes long, so be sure to grab a snack or beverage and pick a time where you have an extra 30 minutes to follow along. If you found it at all helpful, I would greatly appreciate a like and a comment. Thank you!
Here is a picture of the blue egg with the background in it.
Here is a close up of the background made with pieces from the Palette Ephemera Pack.
And here is the pink egg with the pink background in the back.
The pink background isn't completely pink, but it is a fun mixture of spring colors.
From this angle, the crooked Texture Paste Faux Frosting isn't really noticeable. LOL!
I love the sugared bunny!
The faux frosting went a little better on the second egg, but it still isn't prefect and I still think it's fabulous. I'm embracing the imprefection in the handmade faux sugar eggs and I really love them,
The little thiimble vases and chocolate egg add a fun difference to this egg.
The vintage tartlet tin base also added enough room for not only a Velvet Trims bow, but two cute charms.
Thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule the week before Easter to check out this last minute Easter make. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it!

I hope you have a very creative day!
