What's on Your Work Desk ? Wednesday #315

Blimey, Weds today means it's Thursday tomorrow and I have to go to work. How depressing!!

But morning deskers, I'm here to show what I am up to this week:

Oh yes I have been having inky un with my new prima stamps. Really like this idea, really quick and easy (well all the clever stuff is in the artwork that someone else has done, in this case a talented lady called Jamie Dougherty). And a good way to use up some of my mountains of flowers which, frankly, are getting a little out of hand. But I guess a girl can never have too many flowers in her life.

Just looked at the photo again - these aren't quite finished yet, the still need to be made up into cards and decorated - I'm not doing a silence of the lambs thing with that flower over her mouth. See truly not staged!!

If you don't know why I am sharing this photo then you need to check it out here. I have decided to tackle the bathrooms this morning and then I shall be off for a wander with a nice cuppa. See you around!! Happy WOYWW.

What's on your workdesk? Wednesday, # 229

Sigh, I am missing you all but have been so busy with work work work once again, I have just not had time to do much of anything at all. (oh don't go there, we've been privatised and then sold on again in less than 2 months - just so fed up with it all) So would really appreciate some crafty love this week!!!

So here's my desk which kind of sums up about how creative I feel today.

LOL, I really do have an obsession with glue and scissors. (How many different methods of adhesion are there in this picture?!! I counted 14) The disgusting chopping board is where I  place things while I am heat embossing -  it has become pretty grungy over the years. The arch is still there from 3 weeks ago and I've just finished a project (see post below), haven't tidied up and have no idea what I am going to do next. Hopefully it will look more active by next week!

GOOD NEWS: Final total for MacMillan fundraising was £365 which, when you add in the gift aid and the matching scheme from my employers (well they are now my previous employers, just squeaked in before it changed) made it well worth doing.

Wondering what WOYWW is? Go here for details!!

I shall be at work so may not visit many of you till the evening - see ya soon!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #211 - I'm Back!!

It's Wednesday again ...... somebody stop the clocks!! I haven't even made it for about three weeks and there's not a lot to show so far this week. Mainly because......

Nowhere to sit.

The pc is a little difficult to get to...............

(OK I tidied up a bit before I wrote this post and found another chair)

My actual desk isn't too bad - this is a double tri-shutter album I started making for my mum at the WOYWW crop - nearly done!!

Why all this mess? A new window!!!! (Not a very inspiring  photo I know. It looks pretty much like the old window if I'm honest.)

As I couldn't get to much today I re-did my little art display, swapping some old stuff out for the lovely WOYWW4 trades I got so I can see and enjoy them while I'm creating.

Well,  just in case you don't know what I am going on about, here's the link to WOYWW - just go and read all about it, sheesh, I'm not going to explain it every week.

When I can get to my pc desk properly I'll be doing the rounds, but more windows are going in so I don't really have much of a plan for today yet. Hopefully the fitters will be finished in my room very quickly and I can get myself sorted.

Happy WOYWW!!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday # 207

Well there hasn't been an awful lot of action here lately and I've kind of forgotten what I was doing with most of this.  I've been poorly :o(. Still feel like c*** but have promised myself an hour or two with the gelli plate as my playtime with it is long overdue. Which is why it has prime position.

Want to find out about WOYWW? Then pop over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground. Join in why don't you?
Goodness look at the time!!
Better get a wriggle on.
Have a good day!!

WOYWW #205 - all the usual suspects....

Wednesday? Again? Oh well, here we go, here is my desk this week....

Neither tidy nor particularly untidy - just a repository for things I am about to do this week. An abandoned shoe that I squashed with a box (can it be saved?). The raw materials for a little ATC project I have in mind, tags and a spectacle case that haven't moved since last week, a very dirty rag, a glue runner that has got messed up but I'm still trying to use it, and everything else just in its normal place.

If you have some reason to show off your desk this week, hop on over to Julia's blog 'Stamping Ground' and join in. I'd love it if you had time to say 'hi' and will definitely return the favour whilst I am on my rounds.

Will  you be at the WOYWW crop? I will!! Looking forward to it insanely. And have just realised if last year was anything to go by it won't do my pre holiday diet any favours!!
Have a great WOYWW!!

Unadulterated Self Promotion: I am running a little behind schedule due entirely to, ahem, tidying  up as discussed last week, but just wanted to give you a head's up to say that the Art Draw for May will be uploaded  on Friday. xx

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #204 and a winner.........

Quickie from me which should earn a few brownie points from our esteemed leader, Julia of Stamping Ground (pop on over for more info).

Tidied up my desk this evening which was kind of stupid, so this is just a load of things I have been working on that I need to finish. My friend and I have been glittering acetate because she liked some cards she saw - I think she's changed her mind now!! Two weeks of being covered in glitter has dampened her enthusiasm somewhat. Other bits - My notebook and various digis printed out. Tags and something to alter. The waste from a fern die cut which I have mounted onto black card as I think it looks rather cool - a topper for a quick card methinks.

I have just done a random.org selection for the April Art Draw which was no 5 - Viv!!

I was going to give you a sneak preview of the May Draw but I can't lay my hands on it at the moment - may need to re-think......!! (I knew it was a mistake to tidy up.....)

That's it from me. See you around! Have a great WOYWW!!

WOYWW # 202 - A little tableau....

It's Wednesday again (some would say, already) and time to go on our travels though the crafty desks of blogland. If you really don't know what's going on then can I urge you to visit Julia at Stamping Ground where you can click for all the info.

My desk is uncharacteristically tidy this Wednesday as I have just finished one DT project and have nearly done another 3d project - that shoe you can see was the prototype - which I will probably finish at some stage .  I now have to make a big leaving card for someone at work, I really can't put it off any longer, ideally I need to have it finished by Friday but have no inspiration at the moment. Oh the horror of the blank white page. This is the oh so helpful brief - music, cats (gizmo and sticky), chocolate and Glee  -  I'm hoping someone has found me a photo to work in to it but I haven't seen it yet. If not, butterflies and flowers it is then.

But over here, (this is the little tableau!!) all ready to play, are a few of the bestest things I got at Ally Pally on Sunday.

Stamps from Jofy, Sam Poole, and Clarity. A 'cog' die from Robert Addams (what a nice man!!). Frantage. Far too much UTEE. Masks. A few interesting things to alter. And, so excited about this, a Gelli plate!! Boy, am I gonna be busy.

I'd love it if you said hi, in which case I will return the favour. I will attempt to visit all those with the same nos as me, whatever they might be, but can't guarantee anything after close of play Thursday, this has to stop somewhere. I may be an evening visitor because today is a work day and can't always get online at lunch time. And also hubby is home from Ghana today after 4 1/2 weeks volunteering and will probably have lots to talk about.
(I might of course need an excuse to get away.........)

Happy WOYWW!!

WOYWW #201 and 500th post

It's time again for our weekly Wednesday desk hop around the crafty blogosphere - get yourself over to Julia Dunnit's Stamping Ground if you want to know more.

Here's my desk. Have been all over the place craftwise this last week, doing bits of this n that. Got a new set of Crafty Individuals stamps on my desk - they are from Craft Stamper as I had something published this month - Woo hoo!! I should really be getting  started on a couple of commissions but BORING, so instead I've been playing with the little charms you can see for the Artful Times swap.

The round ones are recycled from little medals we had at work (now out of date) - I found a huge stash of them the other day so I have plenty to keep me going. I just need to think of a better way to disguise the edges, I think I may need to fire up the meltpot and try some more with the old 'faux soldering' but I don't have much UTEE left at the mo - that's on my list for Ally Pally next weekend though!! The other two are stampboard. I'm just waiting for some glue n seal to dry so that I can add some little findings etc and then they'll be all done. I also got a pack of 'Fragments' from my local Hobbycraft for £2 in the sale. Bargain!! I thought they might make nice charms as they are quite light (unlike dominoes which look great but are soooo heavy). Unfortunately you can't punch them with a cropodile and I have no idea where my dremel is. I'm also never sure whether I should be allowed to use it unsupervised and hubby is still away ........

Haven't progressed very far with my tissue box but going to have a crack at that this afternoon.

Have a lovely WOYWW, I'm intending to spend the duration in my craft room as I was very, very good yesterday and cleaned the whole house. Ergo, today is MY day and nobody better disturb me LOL!!

Just noticed that this is my 500th post (must get a life). I have three waxed ATCs I was going to put up for trade but I think we'll have a spot prize today to celebrate. I'll pick 3 random 'winners' from the comments tomorrow morning around 9.00 am.

If you will be at Ally Pally next Sunday do let me know - maybe we can arrange to meet and say a quick 'hello'.

WOYWW #200 - Thank You Very Much!!!!

Wednesday seems to have come around even quicker with the Easter break - hope you had a good one, I certainly did. I had a PJ day on Friday, work Saturday, saw mum on Sunday and as I am on my own at the moment and deserted by youngsters I had most of Monday to myself. I decided it was time to tackle the huge box of WIPs which was threatening to overflow. At the same time, I had had a request from a work colleague for thank you cards so I thought I would get out some of those unused or unfinished card kits and make a few simple cards. Here are the Thank You ones.
I think I may have overdone it.

Birthday cards
A lot of the cards were made using the Hunky Dory 'Butterfly Sorbet' kit which is really, really pretty and very easy to put together. I bought it mainly because I coudln't resist the dimensional butterfly cards.

Dimensional butterfly card
I prefer stamped or 'arty' cards myself, but I find they don't sell as well as the kit cards and unless commissioned people don't want to pay for the big fancy cards. However, I expect these to go down very well and I wanted to get some more stock done as we are having a quiz night at work next week. But it doesn't matter if they don't, it just means I have stuff ready for my MacMillan Day later in the year.

And in the spirit of getting things finished here's the current
project I am trying to get done and dusted
which was supposed to be a present for a friend
for LAST Christmas. Ooops! So that's what I've been doing this week and now the decks are clear I have a hankering to get out the melt pot.... been watching Hels all week on C & C and am feeling the need to dip and pour.

For the full details of WOYWW and how to join in, pop over to Julia Dunnit's blog 'Stamping Ground'. I am at work today so will  be visiting late. Have a good day!!

What's On Your Wordesk? Wednesday..... # 199

Wednesday again? Well that went fast.

First thing, anyone interested in how the costume I was making last week turned out, some piccies can be found here.

Back to this week, I am getting all messy with inks and paint and my desk does kinda reflect that LOL! Good luck working out what any of this is - there are at least three projects on the go today, had a little flash of mojo last night when I finally got into my craft room.

The alcohol inks are out again, as are my Lynn Perella stamps, there  are some clearly for art strips that hopefully are going on to an assemblage type piece I am making in  tandem with a gothic arch and some ATCs - well I have to give things time to dry!! Going to have to tidy up a bit soon as am down to my usual 6 inch square.

If you want to show off your desk then hop on over to Julia's and join in. Got more time than usual as I'm home today so off for a browse.....

woyww #198

I have a different type  of work desk for you today - the dining room table!! LLJ would be proud of me as I have a sewing machine out (I made a cake last night as well - whatever is going on).  No papercraft this week as I am trying to make a costume for my son for a party - he's a LOTR afficianado and wants to go as Aragorn. These LOTR geeks are very fussy though - every time I get bits together I get told - well that would do for Helm's Deep Aragorn but that colour's not right for Rivendell Aragorn.... jeesh, you'd think he'd be happy I said I'd do it at a week's notice!

I think we have come to a sort of a compromise since he realised I was not about to run up a leather duster coat for him. This is a sort of tunic thingy made from some faux suede - looking OK so far. The blue material is for the undershirt (not too sure about that - it needs sleeves and I don't have a pattern LOL). The braid has just been dyed using distress stains. Eeek, gonna have to get a wriggle on tomorrow night as we have to 'distress' it all before Saturday.

Anyhow, if you are intrigued by the whole What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday phenomenon hop on over to Julia's blog 'Stamping Ground' to discover all. And Maybe Join In.

I'm at work Weds so will be a late visitor but if you let me know you've been I will return the favour.

What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday

Goodness these weeks do fly.

It's Wednesday again and time to go on our weekly bloghop courtesy of Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground. Start there if you want to find out what is going on.

This is me today. Fairly calm and orderly. I have two projects on my desk, one is a bird cage thingy I am making for Mother's Day and the other is a birthday card for my sister using a Lily of the Valley image I bought a few weeks ago.  Struggling with the papers now. When will I learn to choose the papers before I colour the images? I find it much more difficult the other way round, nothing ever seems to match. Oh well I'm sure it will work out.

So that's that. If you have time to leave a message today I will return the favour. But I won't be here after Thursday morning, off to catch some sun, so although you are welcome to visit any time I may not be able to visit you after today. Hope that makes sense. Have a good day everyone!!

WOYWW # 194

Goodness, where did that week go? Very apt considering the project on my desk which, ah, unfortunately I can't show you yet. It's cunningly disguised as a piece of A4 paper. Oh all right, I've left one of the flowers out so you can see.
Yes I've been inking and grunging and stamping and embossing.... a DT project which is ALMOST finished and which will be unveiled next Tuesday. Other than that, even more stamps to be cleaned than last week and I still haven't covered that 'heroes' box.

Here's the main thing on my desk this week, a new printer. A purchase which has required some re-jigging of my craft room as it didn't look very secure on the jerry rigged paper storage cabinet the old one used to sit on (aka a cardboard box). I truly hope I have made a good choice although I have yet to give it a thorough work out.

Why am I telling you all this?
                                            What is WOYWW?

                             Seriously, where have you BEEN?

It's a weekly wednesday world wide WIP on your desk bloghop that is hosted by the wonderful Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground - hop on over for the full story and to join in.

I'm taking a picture Tues night as it's work for me tomorrow so be prepared once again for a late visit.  Maybe even later than usual as I won't be home until after 9 and our pesky new computer set up at work doesn't like us to visit ANY SITES AT ALL (in fact I think the powers-that-be would prefer it if we just turned them on and stared at them all day. Actually opening a programme, sending an email, looking up information - we are an information service - well that's asking a bit much......)  so I only have limited lunch time browsing as I give up after three 'you can't go here's'. However,  I'd love to know if you stop by, and will return the favour if you let me know you've been. Have a great day!!

WOYWW # 193

Welll Hellooooo There! Been AWOL for a few weeks but am home today so  thought I would join in and get round a few desks at least.

Here's mine:

It's been commission week so I have one completed card over to the right and another on my desk in progress. Not entirely sure about that pink or the flower just playing with the layout at the mo. Some art parts ready to be put together, a pile of hearts that I left out just in case I was struck by valentinitus but which can probably be put away now and of course the inevitable box of stamps-waiting-to be-cleaned-and-put-away although to be truthful there is not a lot in there. (Must cover that 'Heroes' box)As per, lots of scissors. No coffee cups? Ha, they're on the other desk next to the pc and out of shot.  (Just counted - 4, what a slob!)

Wonder why I am showing you my desk? To find out about the weekly wonder that is WOYWW hop on oover to Julia Dunnit's Stamping Ground to find out more and join in. I'll be in and out all day as I have a zillion errands to run (and a lunch date with my bestie so not all bad) but if you do leave me a message I WILL return the favour, but might be later this afternoon.

Happy WOYWW!!

Cindy

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday # 189

Hello everyone, it's Wednesday again - how the weeks fly!

Here's my desk this week, a little valentine project on the go today.

A different type of flower (with the button) on show today as well as some of shabby ones I made last week. Fairly tidy for me (if you ignore the box of stamps to be cleaned)

I also thought I'd share my new ribbon storage idea - after years of having them all in different boxes that exploded every time I looked for a piece of ribbon I decided to clear out two of my desk drawers and do this. It may not seem that big a deal but for me it's right up there with putting my DI blending pads on velcro. Can actually see what I've got and the messy bit can be rummaged through without everything going on the floor. Much better.
Anyhow I've shown you mine, will you share yours? If you want to join in with this week's nosy shennanigans then hop on over to Julia's blog and put your name down. You never know who will come and visit!!

WHat's On Your Work Desk Wednesday #188

Well, this week I have been busy. Crafty busy. And Tidy. And Organised.
OK, go and lie down in a darkened room.

Here's the piccie. Taken Tuesday night, but I won't have time tomorrow.

Yummy flowers yes? Here is a link to one of the many tuts available on the web. These are for my next DT project. Curious? Yeah well I'm not entirely sure myself where it is going. I may have made a tad too many, but once you get started they are quite relaxing and not that challenging...

Anyhow, you've seen my desk. Now get yourself over to Julia's and join in. Trust me, whatever kind of crafty desk you have you will not be alone.

I am at work all day Wednesday so won't be visiting till late. I won't get round them all, but leave a message and I will visit yours, it's only polite after all.

Big Silly Grin on my face. A small amount of Happy Dancing.  Just heard about 1st June. That date is so in the diary. Try and stop me.

Happy WOYWW.

What's on Your Workdes Wednesday - #187

A great big mess is what.

Not very inspiring so I'm not even going to dignify it with a breakdown but I'm back, glad to be here and today is a play day, unless I spend the whole day on the computer visiting desks which is a possibility as I have been AWOL for a month.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, hop on over to Julia's and join in.

If you say 'hi' I'll return the favour.

HOPPY NEW YEAR!!!

And in the spirit of pure self promotion, can I prompt you to make a date to return for the monthly art draw which goes up tomorrow? I hope so!!

What's On Your Work Desk, Wednesday?.........#179

Goodness it's Wednesday again!! Time for our weekly snoop around the craft desks of the world, courtesy Julia Dunnit of Stamping Ground. Pop on over to find out more and join in.

Here's my desk, kinda the calm after the storm this week. I have been making poinsetta's for this month's giveaway - just a little tease, and it's just drying off so will probably post it this evening.

My trusty circle cutter has died (well the blade snapped and I don't seem to have any spares) and the poor lollipop tree is still not finished and is now listing rather alarmingly. And for those who care, I have covered my gravy tub scissor holder. That rather funky covering started life as a sheet of kitchen roll in the bottom of my spray box.

Leave me a message and if you have a blog I'll repay the favour, whether you join in with WOYWW or not. Home today, so hopefully will get a bit of crafting done as I have two very important cards to get done, one a commission new home card (brief: polar bear, piano, opera, strong coffee, chocolate and sci fi. No problems there then.) and the other an 80th birthday card for my mum. As I'm about I hope to visit a few desks before lunchtime rather than the middle of the night as often happens!!

And finally a word of warning. This is what happens when you try to grow out your acrylic nails and then play with mica  sprays.
Very attractive n'est ce pas?

Happy WOYWW!!

What's on Your workdesk Wednesday # 177

It's Wednesday again, and time for our weekly deskhop courtesy of our illustrious leader the lovely Julia of Stamping Ground. Pop on over there to find out all about it and join in!!I've been playing and the main desk is just a pile of bits and bobs but as I have actually been being productive I thought this week I'd show you my other two desk areas (one of which is cunningly disguised as a chair)

So voila some cards. Had my dylusions inks out to make some backgrounds though most of these I think are from the papers I put in my spray box when I'm having a bit of a spritz. Wanted a few simple but 'arty farty' cards for my Macmillan coffee morning (eek, it's next week!!), makes a change from teddy bears and flowers.

Kept them quite simple, but the backgrounds are quite lush. mmmmmm

And also been making tags, again playing with the dylusions and those Lynn Perella stamps.

Not sure where these are going but it's good to play!

So that's it for this week, I am home this Wednesday so should make my rounds in good time. Thank you to my new followers - I have noticed and will be round to visit those with blogs as well.

Happy WOYWW everyone!!

What's on Your Workdesk, Wednesday #

On my desk today are the bits I was working on at the WOYWW crop on Saturday.

First the flowery wreath in Christmas papers that I brought to do. Needs a bit of ribbon but otherwise finished.

Absolutely rubbish photo as ever.

And here are the dominos I made at Morti's master class. I didn't dare put the glossy accents on before I came home but they turned out quite nice. Who'd have thought those huge Lynn Perella stamps would work on a domino?

So busy nattering (and eating, there was also a lot of eating......) I didn't quite get round to doing Julia's project on the day. But here it is finished.

Really like those little stars. Amazing, when someone else makes all the decisions I can really work quite quickly....

At the end of the day we were given some little goodie bags (very naughty, as we were told not to bring gifts) with a lovely hand made gift from LLJ (sorry forgot to photo it) and another bits n bobs challenge from Julia.

Here's what I made with that.

It was so nice to meet everyone, WOYWW has now become even more special. If you don't know what WOYWW is it's about time you found out! Go over to see Julia at Stamping Ground and join in!!

I hope you all have a lovely day vistiting one another today. Unfortunately I probably won't be around to visit  until tomorrow evening. I have to go and and get my photo taken with the Olympic Torch (for being a route marshal when it came through the town), then I have to go to work, then straight up to town for a charity music event that some friends are taking part in and then work again Thursday. But I will be visiting this week so hope to see you soon.

And finally here's sock monkey with my WOYWW badge, my chocolate medal (keeping that for emergencies) and my name badge from the day.

Am uploading this quite early as I don't have a lot of time  in the morning and will just link up as soon as I can.

Happy WOYWW!!!

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday #885

Morning d eskers, welcome to our weekly Wednesday Blog Hop WOYWW,   now being hosted on Sarah Brennan's blog. Here's the link for ...
