Fall leaves

I LOVE fall leaves!!! I love the colors, I love the artistry of them on the tree or off of the tree.  A whole row of trees in golds and oranges and reds is oh so beautiful.
This love gave me a really good reason to play along with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. I have a great fall related card created and it fits the Trigger pretty nicely. I used all Hero Arts stamps for my card.  With that sentiment it fits great for a Thanksgiving related greeting.
I love background stamps and this new one from Hero Arts in no exception. The design is leaves but I have found it works pretty cool for just about any occasion.  I stamped the leaves in a variety of colors and lightly spritzed them with water before stamping.  That gave them more of a mottled look.  It was fun to accent that background with dots of Liquid Pearls.
The Trigger piece have a lot more red it in them my card but I used the pile of leaves as my main inspiration.

Tuesday Trigger

I love to play along with Cath's Tuesday Trigger challenges at Moxie Fab.

I used some of my new Hero Arts stamps and did some stamping with Distress Stains.  I applied the Stains directly to the stamps, giving that inking a spritz of water each time so the result was a watercolor look.

The background was created with one brush stroke stamp.  I just stamped it repeatedly in four different colors, overlapping the images from one side to the other side. I loved the result and felt it fit with the Trigger piece.
Here is the Tuesday Trigger.

World Card Making Day part 1

Since I love making cards, it just warms my heart that there is a day to celebrate Card Making!!!
Paper Crafts Magazine will have the actual celebration this Saturday, October 5th,  but they are talking about it all week so I thought I should for sure share a card today.  Check out the Moxie Fab blog to read more.
My card also features the look of Fall.  The leaves and the word "Thanks" are cut with my Cricut machine.  I love the colors of fall.

Stamping and Die Cutting

You know I love stamping so for this first card I turned to the Colour Q combination for my inspiration.
I also turned to a set of Hero Arts stamps, I love this leaf stamp.  I picked out some Distress Stains that I felt fit the color combination.  Each leaf was stamped in a different color by simply inking the feather in each of the colors.  The Distress Stains are so easy to use and give a neat watercolor look.
I also added matching dots to each leaf.

Here is the Colour Q combination.
(ETA) I am adding the following card to the Moxie Fab challenge to use paper tape.
I love dies too and I wanted to use this great word "thanks" from Paper Smooches.  I also wanted to use some of the great paper tapes that I have.  I think they are so fun to use and easy too.
At first my thought was to just cut the word out of the white cardstock and then back that paper with black so the negative of the word showed off well.  For some reason I placed the cut out word back into the space it was cut out of and I really liked that look, the black background still gave a neat accent.

Can we talk about PINK!

Now pink is not my favorite color, in fact I will most often avoid it but I just have to pull out my pink papers now and then for a project or two.
The first great reason to use some variations of pink is the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.  The photo for that is further down in this post, tell me you don't want a piece of this goodness! It was fun to try for the hombre look for my card.
All I did was to pick out a nice combination of pink cardstock, cut them in strips to cover my card front and then I punched out these flower shapes in the same colors, adding on buttons of the same colors too.
 The Tuesday Trigger - YUMMMMMM!
Now since we are talking about the color pink, I also wanted to share this card.  I used was using a stencil and some Stephanie Barnard Clearsnap spray ink.  I had sprayed the pink color to decorate a piece of white cardstock and as usual, the stencil was then covered with ink.  I always hate to waste any of the ink so I turned the stencil over and placed it on another piece of white cardstock.  I think I like this use of the stencil better then the first use!
I finished the card with some Hero Arts stamps. The two flowers and the ring.  Instead of coloring the big flower, I sprayed it slightly with some of the same spray inks.

Avery Elle goodness

I found another challenge to play along with!!!
Avery Elle is one of my new most favorite stamp companies so when I saw that they had an inspiration piece challenge for July, I knew I wanted to give it a try.  The winner gets to be a guest designer and I would sooooo want to do that!
I have a set of their stamps that includes this arrow.  I just masked the end of the arrow so I could add this really neat, feather looking end.  It was fun to create it around the soft colors in the photo.
Here is the inspiration piece for the Avery Elle challenge for July.  This also fits the Moxie Fab Trendy Triangle challenge.

It is about color

Yum, I just had to play along with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. The colors are so crisp and clear and just said "play with me"!
I tried to think of what I had that might give me that same crisp and clear look and so I turned to my Distress Stains.  Because the top of the bottle is a circle, I just pressed each color directly to the paper.  What is fun is that I actually did quite a bit of playing with different looks and decided on this one for my card.
I love the way the colors slightly ran together and also ended up with a watercolor kind of look.
Here is the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger inspiration photo.
And, this card uses the Colour Q combo for this week.  I pulled out a set of stamps from Avery Elle.  It was easy to use this neat design element along with the colors.
Rhinestone middles to the design element created a nice finishing touch.
Here is the Colour Q combo.

It is birthday time

I love making cards but for some reason I seem to seldom use the theme of birthdays.
Moxie Fab is featuring a new Birthday issue all of this week so they have issued a few challenges. I love challenges so I knew I needed to create something.  I used the challenge that uses a sketch.
I love my stamps from Avery Elle and the matching dies are so perfect with them.  I could see this flower stamped in black so that was the starting point for my card.  The other part of the challenge is to use all stamps or no stamps so I went with the all stamping part.  To keep with that, I decorated my cut hexagons with the tweed background stamp from Hero Arts.  Stamping it in black was the perfect choice.  The banner die is from Paper Smooches and that sentiment is also from Avery Elle.
Here is the Moxie Fab sketch.
And for more birthday fun, I wanted to use the retro sketch and so I went with some supplies from October Afternoon.  The vintage card is from a package of embellishments.  The sketch was my inspiration for this card although it was followed rather loosely.  This fits the Moxie Fab challenge to create a birthday card.
The word "birthday" is a die from PaperTrey, Inc.  I thought it was fun to add that to the vintage card.
Here is the retro sketch.

The black and white Tuesday Trigger

I had a few minutes to sit and play and create so the first thing I turned to for inspiration was the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab.  Cath does the best job of picking out pieces that really do "trigger" inspiration I just don't always have time to play.
I feel in  love with the black and white and brown of the piece and the strong, rather tribal look to the patterns.  I thought it also had a rather masculine look but I ended up adding in a bit of a feminine look, oh well!!!
I started off with a wonderful stencil from Prima.  I sprayed that with a black Stephanie Barnard spray ink from Clearsnap. I love those sprays anyway and the black was just right for this challenge.  The cardstock was white so I softened that with some brown ink. The chevron piece is the Tweed background stamp from Hero Arts.  That was stamped with black and also softened with brown ink. I did cut that in a circle to mimic the circle pieces in the trigger.
The banner die is from Paper Smooches and that beautiful sentiment is from Avery Elle.  I added in a few gold dots using Liquid Pearls, I wanted just a touch of the gold to mimic the gold pieces in the trigger. See that row of flower ribbon? I colored that with that same black spray ink. It started off yellow.
Here is that wonderful Tuesday Trigger.

Stamps and Punches

I wanted to use a couple challenges, but what else is new!!!
First up, I used the color combination at Dynamic Duos. The combo of the black and yellow with some white makes me so happy!
I wanted to create my own pattern of the black and yellow so I use a set from Wplus9 Designs that I so love and some Clearsnap inks.  The black design is cut with the Cricut and the word "hope" is a die cut from Wplus9 Designs.
Here is this weeks Dynamic Duos challenge.

Lately I have seen talk regarding Ombre coloring and it was fun to give it a try.  Moxie Fab has issued a challenge to create a card with an Ombre look.  For my card it was pretty easy after I pulled out a set of cardstocks that were of the same family but each piece was a little darker then the other.
I then accented my strips of cardstock with punched flowers using all of the same shades.  The punch is from Martha Stewart. I thought it was so fun what a simple look this created.

This card fits with the Avery Elle photo inspiration challenge.  I was taken with the simplicity of the photo yet the neat dynamic to that photo.  With that, I also went with a simple look and I thought the color combination gave my card a similar dynamic.
I stamped two of the flowers from a set of stamps by Avery Elle and cut both out.  When I placed them on my card, I layered them with some foam tape between the layers. The cardstock comes with that embossed design on it already and the sentiment is from Simon Says.
Here is the Avery Elle inspiration photo.

Butterflies and Bicycles

A couple fun cards to share with you today.
First up, Moxie Fab has a challenge to USE WASHI TAPE or paper tape. I love paper tape so I went to this retro sketch that I wasn't able to use and put it to use with this great wooden butterfly that I picked up at Micheals. When I saw this laser cut butterfly, I knew it would be fun with this particular sketch.
The background is a Hero Arts stamp stamped with a gray stamp pad (the white portion is the stamp pattern). I then took my paper tape which is Recollections and made a frame around the stamped piece. Talk about easy and fast!!! I accented the butterfly with a cute American Crafts button I just picked up at Target.
I went back to this older retro sketch for my inspiration.
Next up, I used the CASE this sketch for my inspiration plus the Masculine challenge at Addicted To CAS challenge.
Do you see my new, yummy woodgrain stamp from Hero Arts? Can I say I am madly in love with this one and I know I will use it often. I used a soft, Fluid Chalk sandy colored stamp pad. It was so easy to finish the card with this little wood bicycle and the little banner stamp, also from Hero Arts.
Here is the CASE this sketch.
And the Addicted to CAS challenge.
