Envelope Please...And The Winner Is...

I couldn't wait to pick a winner this morning when I got up! I want to thank everyone for entering my giveaway! I am so happy for the response it got and every ones comments on what their favorite treat is for the holidays... some I never would have thought of... but now I might have to try!!! I am still responding back to comments on my Anniversary post... I really appreciated every one of them!
But now... we need to pick a winner...

and my lovely assistant, the hubs, is here to help...
( I tried to get my dog to do it but she didn't quite understand)

and the winner is...

Your comment and post about my giveaway was so kind!
Thanks so much for entering Ariane! Now all I need is your address and I will run the goodies over to the post office and send them off to you.
I was quick enough the other day while driving to get this picture.
At Thanksgiving, a tree is always brought in and put up at the main intersection of our town.
We have 2 signals on our main street... I know, whoohoo!... and the tree becomes the focal point for the holidays. This week there will be several smaller trees put around it and the little kids from the surrounding schools come and decorate each tree for their school.
Then this Saturday evening there will be a tree lighting ceremony along with singing... and hot chocolate! This last Saturday was the tree lighting ceremony at Bass Lake which we didn't attend but our boys were there.
Over the weekend we went to my sister's... they already put up their tree!
I did manage to work a little on my Red & White challenge quilt... which you can see is
vintage pink & white.

I was working on my Schnibbles for tomorrow also... but I can't show you until then!

A Morsel or Two

There have been some great giveaways out there in blogland lately.

This one caught my eye this morning... so I thought I would play along.

This is 1 of the 5 giveaways that Jackie at Canton Village Quiltworks is giving away.
She brought them back from Market just to share the fun!
This fabric group is too cute... so you might as well give it a try over there. Jackie has a really fun blog... so it's worth just going over there to look around!

You also might enjoy, La Vie En Rosie... Carrie's blog this morning.
I'm telling you, this girl never sleeps! Maybe Miss Rosie sleeps enough for the both of them.

This is one of the new Schnibble patterns that she has up on her blog.

You might have to go look and see the other one's she has just created!

You are going to love them!

Note to self: go get some of that Simple Abundance fabric! Now!

One Fish, Two Fish... Green Fish!

I was on a mission today. I was out looking for a vintage hat. I collect hats but this one is going to be for my sister. (A peace offering/I'm a middle child). She rides horses and when she does the horse/carriage competitions she wears vintage hats. I was thinking this would be pretty easy... the town I live in use to have a plethora of antique shops. The town use to hold a huge antique fair twice a year... the whole town was closed down for this event. It still has thrift shops, ( not any antique shops anymore) but evidently things are still priced for that "earlier" period.
Anyway, I wasn't able to find a nice hat but I did find this hat box that I thought I could put one of my hats into for her. It's from an old millinery shop located in Fresno... and that's where she lives! I also found a good little deal on this old barkcloth purse... isn't it cute?

I got a little package in the mail the other day and wanted to show you the goodies I received. It isn't a good picture but it will assist the story.
Beverly has been coming to my annual quilt retreat at Bass Lake. Last year we had a special evening, we called it Pincushion Diaries. Everybody brought a pincushion and told a story about how they started sewing, who influenced them etc. It was a great evening and everybody got to know each other better. There was a special voting for the best pincushion, which Beverly won. We all loved her pincushion, which was 3 green fish on a stringer. It was so cute... and now she wrote me a pattern and even sent the fabric and string so that I can make one of my own. That was so sweet of her! I can't wait to make it and show you the finished product.
I still remember how she ended her story of how she began to quilt... "and that was it, it got me- hook-line and sinker"! It was great! I can't wait to see her and her buddies again!
And speaking of pincushions... Jaybird is having a giveaway but even better than that... she just posted a tutorial on Moda Bake Shop for these pincushions she made! They are adorable and she has 2 different options on how to make them. You have to go see if you haven't already and then go to Julie's blog and enter her giveaway. Have fun!

A Blog With A View

Just wanted to leave a quick note. Elaine at Faithful Quilter is having a giveaway. I just found out about her blog when I had been over to Ranette's Daily Stitch. Ranette had entered the "My First Quilt" parade. Her quilt was amazingly beautiful. Both blogs are great, so hop on over to see what you are missing:)

That's all for me today... I seem to have gotten a cold and it is getting the best of me!
