Calling All Lili Of The Valley Fans ....... :)

Morning peeps and hope you are all OK on this fine and sunny morning.
If you've already been over to the
Ideas To Inspire blog, then you'll know that we have a .....

monthlychallenge880

.... BRAND NEW CHALLENGE
for you which is going to be launched today.

Woooohooo -  and if you nip over to the I2I blog at midday then you can find out all about it.

Now you may have noticed that I had a card on the Papertake Weekly blog yesterday but I wasn't able to put it on here because my internet went ever so slightly haywire. But no matter cos I have a sneaky peekie to share today which is from the new Vintage Boys soon-to-be-released release so I've added it here as it fits rather nicely, so you get 2 sneakie peeks for the price of one :).

So my first card is ....

Picture-005web

... this one here and I've used ...

Take It Easy.

And it's a nice day for it as well, if only I could join him!!!

Picture-001web

So I coloured him in Copics, but I have to admit that this morning, I was tidying my desk ready to start the prep for the workshop this weekend (more in a tick)  and I chucked out the paper with the Copics list on - whaaaaaa, oh noooooooooooo??????

But I'll do me best to try and remember them all so here goes -

Skin - E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R02
Hair - E31, E35, E39

The rest - B0000, B000, B12, B95, B97, C00, E09, E31, E33, E35, E39, E41, E42, E43, E50, E97, R05, R17, R27, R59, YG0000, YG00, YG23

The papers are from an 8x8 Petal Fresh Paper pad - I LOVE the clean look of these papers.

Ohh and btw, just while I'm thinking about it, all the 8x8 pads are now back in stock :)

Picture-004web

The sentiment is from the Set 9 - Mixed Circular Sentiments set but I just used one of the straight stamps in the set (I'd forgotten how versatile that set is).

Picture-002web

Spot the Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders One die again.
I just can't help myself sometimes!!

Picture-003web

OK so that's card numero uno.

So back to yesterday's Papertake and here's the card I made for that which also featured one of the new release ....

Picture-010web

.. and this is ...

A Lick Of Paint.

Can I just say peeps that this image is a fabulous size so it really is the focal point of your card. And it's perfect if you aren't too confident about adding embellies etc.

Picture-006web

Once again, the list of colours went to file 13 along with the ones above but I'll try and remember again (jeez, twice in one day - I will pay for this later when I get brain ache!!)

Skin - E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R02
Hair -  E35, E39

The rest - , E31, E33, E35, E39, E41, E42, E43, E50,R05, R17, R27, R59

And of course the papers are from the 8x8 Country Gent Paper Pad - perfect for these new images.

Picture-004lopweb

The sentiment is from one of the new Sketch Pad Set - 8-General Sentiments.
OMG how good are these!! I picked one up last time I was over at the shop and I wonder how I ever managed without them

And the curvy border is there again!!
In fact, the border on the first card is actually the negative from this one here :)

Picture-007web

Ooh I'm not loving this pic - it all looks a bit wonky donky but I promise you that IRL it isn't!!

Picture-003lopweb

Blimey what a long post today - thank you for staying with it to the bitter end me darlins xxx

Right I had better be off cos I have to get my prep done for the workshop this weekend. We are going to be making a lovely recipe box using the  Country Lady papers.

Here's have a little sneakie peekie ....

 Picture-002web

It's a fab design for the box as well which only uses 2 A4 sheets of paper.
AND you could also use it to store your cards in as well - even 6x6s will fit nicely.

At the last count, I THINK there were one or two places left so if you fancy a nice afternoon crafting on Saturday check it out here

Right, I really am going this time - don't forget to check the I2I website at midday for the challenge deets.

Have the best day and huggiest of hugs to all xxx

A Rather Fab Colour Combi & A Day Of Remembering :)

Picture 007 copy

Morning peeps and hope you are all OK today.

The man flu is still lurking but I think it is improving ever so slightly so hopefully by the weekend I will have some semblance of normality back (hahahaaaaaaaaa to the normality bit!!)

So it’s time to nip over and see what’s happening over at the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge and this week it’s time for a game of

Embellishment Bingo

Here’s the grid and all you have to do is to pick a line :)

There are several combis I used here – not deliberately cos I aint that clever (although I did use everything on a grid once for one of The Ribbon Girl challenges, smug smug!!!). So take your pick from

Flowers, Gems Glitter

Glitter Buttons Ribbon

Pearls (the little stars)  Lace (paper) Glitter

And talking of  The Ribbon Girl, we are sponsored today by those lovely peeps Mary & Andrea  and there is a …

 kit_aqua

…. fab Aqua Mini Ribbon Kit up for grabs.

So ….

Picture 001 copy

… this is what I did. I used one of last year’s Lili Of The Valley Christmas releases and this is of course All In A Row .

I coloured it with Copics in these colours -

Skin – E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R02

Hair – E31, E33, E35, E39, E50

The rest – BV0000, BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04

The papers are from the Lili Of The Valley paper pads and this one is Promises which features papers from the Nitwits collection of the same name -  I really like these colours together :)

Picture 004 copy

Some Ribbon Girl yummies here -

A larger bow made with Sky Mauve Lilac Seam Binding, topped with a smaller double bow made with Wavecrest Seam Binding which was finally topped with a Medium Purple Polka Dot Button tied with some natural button twine.

And there’s a cheeky little tag peeking out which is from the LOTV Christmas Sentiment Tags Set 32

The dies I used are Spellbinders Lattice Motifs and of course a bit of Tilda Lace

Picture 006 copy

A little arrangement made with various fab stuff from Wild Orchid Crafts :)

Picture 002 copy

Picture 003 copy

So there we are all done for today.

If you get a sec, nip over and have a mooch at the challenge blog peeps and from next week there will be a few more faces joining the DT. Hugest congrats to them and I for one can’t wait to share their fabulous work :)

Before I go I just have to say that yesterday my heart went out to the families of the Hillsborough Disaster. For too long these poor people have not only had to come to terms with losing their relatives in the most awful way, but have had to fight every inch of the way for the truth. I guess that under the circumstances it wasn’t a lot to ask. Yesterday that fight brought them the official confirmation that they had been seeking all these years.  I’m sure that it didn't make them feel any better – in fact it probably made them feel worse in some cases, knowing that lives lost maybe could have been saved. But they must at last feel vindicated and it is a step forward for them and maybe now they can begin to find some peace and start to heal. If that’s possible.

I am LFC supporter – have been all my life – and so is Rich and my Emma. I used to go to  home games years ago, back in the days of Emlyn and Clemence and Tommy Smith etc. My ex husband was also a red and went to most games, home or away and even went abroad to watch them, although he wasn’t at  Hillsborough. So I guess that football is a way of life round here so this really hit home and  I remember it happening like it was yesterday.

I remember going into work on the Monday and of course it was the main topic of conversation, and finding out that one of my ex neighbours had died there. One of the girls who worked there used to go to the same pub as he did and she told me - I couldn’t believe it. I still see one of his sisters now cos she works in one of the shops near here.

I remember feeling outrage that you really should not go to a football match and not come home.

I remember the nightmares I had after reading a particularly harrowing and graphic book of accounts of what happened that day. I remember wishing I had never read it and then feeling guilty that I had just wanted to bury my head and wipe away the images I had from my mind because the people that were there would never be able to do that. I cannot even tell you peeps what I read because it is too awful. Suffice to say that those that were caught up in those pens must have thought they had gone to the very depths of hell.

I remember the shocking pictures on the front pages of the Sunday papers the next day and going out of my way to make sure that my kids didn't see them.

I remember meeting up with the sister of the best friend of my neighbour who had died. Her brother had also gone to the match but he came home.  He came home without his best friend but brought back a world of pain and problems and guilt.  He was traumatised beyond belief she told me and his nightmares may even continue to this day and will be far worse than anything I could ever imagine.

I remember one of my works colleagues telling me that her husband had been there on that day. He was in the top tier and got the most awful view of what was happening below him. He was one of those helping to pull people upwards. He has never gone to a match since.

I’m not meaning to get on me soap box here cos I know that we lived in a very different world then, even though it wasn't that long ago, and football supporters hadn’t always been paragons of virtue – sorry if this offends anyone but it is the reality of those times.  And I have always told my kids that they have to have a fair and balanced view of life and that there are usually two sides to every story.  Some (not all) supporters had a really bad reputation back then for rioting and pitch invasions and fighting and I have tried to rationalise in my head that those in charge on that day may have got the wrong end of the stick and as a result made the wrong decisions.  Making wrong decisions is part of our lives – we have all done it because we are human beings and we aren’t perfect. I can forgive that.  But what I cannot forgive is the systematic cover up and all the lies that have been told since. Things that are coming out now about the lengths that certain parties went to to deflect blame and cover up the truth are beyond belief and those responsible must be brought to book. What they did is nothing short of evil.

It’s hard to live in these parts and not know somebody who died or was affected by this, even down to the next generation because my kids both went to school with the brothers of two of the victims.  There are lots of people around here  inter-connected to this tragedy in some way or another and a lot of people have been affected. And we live some 20 odd miles from Liverpool so in the city this will be even greater.

But none are affected quite so much as the immediate families. The rest of us remember Hillsborough when things like yesterday happen and then we all start talking about it again. But for those families it never goes away and they remember it all the times. For them it isn't just a topic on the news cos it is their reality.

So today I am remembering the 96 and their families.

I am also remembering the other victims of that day that we don’t always think about. People like the young St Johns Ambulance volunteers that were there on that day, some little more than kids,  who thought they were there to patch up cuts and bruises. And the hospital staff who tried to deal with this but who must have been completely overwhelmed. And the Hillsborough ground staff – God only knows what they had to cope with. And the family and friends of those fans who went but came home – they have probably been coping with the fall out ever since. And the fans on the pitch that were desperately trying to save their mates and fellow fans.

And on and on it goes.

But hopefully now they can start to have some sort of closure.

And while I’m remembering, my thoughts are also with my friends across the water on the anniversary this week of 9/11. And finally I am remembering my lovely Mum because it is 9 years tomorrow since she died (love and miss you loads Mum xxx).

Huggiest of hugs to all xxx

Picture 006 copy

Hi there lovely peeps and hope you are all OK today :)

It’s time to sprinkle a bit of fairy dust and nip over and catch up with the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge and today it’s all about

Spots Or Stripes

I couldn't decide which one to do, so I did both …..

 Picture 001 copy

… as you can see!!!

The stripes are on the paper and the spots are on the prezzie on the image.

And speaking of the image ….

Picture 005 copy

… here it is in close up.

It is of course the super sweet Delivering The Presents and I coloured it with the following Copics -

Skin – E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R20

The rest -

B0000, B000, B00, B02, B93, B95. B97, E31, E33, E34, E35, E39, E50, E79. E81, W00, W1, W3

The papers I used today are from this ……

petalfreshdbl

Petal Fresh 8x8 paper pad from Lili Of The Valley– it’s gorgeous – and the card base is a Craftwork Cards  Elegant Square card blank.

I am loving these at the mo!!!

Picture 004 copy

Some Ribbon Girl pretties here.

The bow was made using Royal Peacock Seam Binding and I made a little topper using a 6mm White Pearl Flat Back which I glued onto a Diamante 11mm Round Spacer. There’s also some Cream Jute Mesh Ribbon and a couple of  White Hat Pins.

Picture 002 copy

The sentiment is from one of the new release and it’s set 35, Christmas Handwritten Phrases.

Picture 003 copy

So that’s the old card and now it’s time for my monthly gorgeous giveaway which has been very kindly donated by my lovely friends Mary & Andrea at The Ribbon Girl and this month we have a beautiful …..

071538-kit_blue

…. Blue Mini Ribbon Kit to give to one lucky winner.

If you fancy getting your mitts on that lovely kit, then all you have to do is to leave me a comment and then pop your name with Mr Linky. It’s that easy peasy :) I’ll announce the winner next Tuesday when I do me PTW card.

Right I better go. I am just taking Kyla to do a bit of shopping and then if we get time we are nipping in to see my aunt who is in hospital.

Pastel Pom Mark 2 Plus A Blast From The Past 4U :)

Picture 007

Morning loveliest of peeps and hope all is well today and that my friends in the jolly old US of A had the most wonderful July 4th.

So time to fly over and catch up with the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge and this week our theme is

Anything Goes

We are again Sponsored by Jenny and Denise from J & C Creations who have donated a £10 voucher to be spent on the J & C Creations website

image

So …

Picture 001

.. this is what I did.

I used very similar stuff to my PTW card on Tuesday as it was all out on my desk and sometimes it’s nice to use the same things in a different way.

This could be a euphemism for ‘can’t be bothered tidying it all away’ of course, but it isn’t in this case chicksies, I promise :)

So today I’ve used the very sweet Pom Pom  - she is still one of my faves – and I coloured her with these Copics -

Skin – E000, E00, E11, E21, R00, R20

Hair – E43. E50, E81

The rest – B0000, B000, B00, B02, B12,  C00, G0000, G000, G00, G02

The papers are from Nitwits and they are from the FQB Petal Fresh collection .

Picture 004

I did a similar arrangement as on the other card here and I used 15mm Aqua No 78 Berisford Satin ribbon4mm pearl string and an Aqua Small Polka Dot Spotty Button, all from The Ribbon Girl :)

Picture 006

I forgot to say on Tuesday, dope that I am,  that the sentiment is from the LOTV Handwritten Phrases stamp set - awesome VFM as there are 16 in the set so it pretty well covers everything really.

Picture 005

This is a Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch from Simon Says Stamp and I added some gems to tart it up a bit!!!

Picture 002

You may have noticed that the pics look slightly different today.

I added a different type of vignetting around the edges. It might not work for all cards but for this one I quite liked it as it kind of added a misty quality to it which suited the papers and colours I thought.

Check me out, getting all arty farty lol!!!

Picture 003

Ok so that’s the old card done and if you get a sec, nip over and check out the cardage over at the challenge peeps – verrrry nice indeedy :)

And talking of verrry nice indeedy …….

LOTV New Launch

… get a load of this!!!

If you’ve  never been over to the shop, then treat yourselves to a day out  me darlins cos it really is a feast for sore eyes in there.

Right, time for another Blast From The Past and this week, I’ve chosen The Verve.

I have to say that I do not like this vid one bit cos I don't like the way he barges into people and not an excuse me please or sorry in sight lol!!!  Clearly I must be missing some subliminal message here but then again I am just a simple girlie.  BUT the music is awesome.  The beginning still gives me shivers and when I play this in the car, I have to turn the volume up LOUD to deaf making levels. It’s the only way to listen to it.

So I’ll leave you with the not very easy on the eye Mr Ashcroft (sorry but George Clooney he aint) and say toodle pip. Enjoy the track, have the fabbiest of days and hugs to all xxx

Yeeeeehaaa & A Blast From The Past:)

Picture 007 copy

Howdy lovely peeps and hope you are all OK.

Time to nip over and check out what’s happening at the  Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge and this week it’s

One For The Boys

There’s a brand new sponsor ….

sitelogo

J & C Creations,  so nip and check it all out if you get a sec :)

Picture 001 copy copy

So here’s what I did and we have a bit of a wild west thing going on today !!!

This image is called Yee Haa - I can only imagine what the poor doggie must be thinking - and this is perfect for any little cowboys out there!!

I coloured it with these Copics -

Skin – E000, E100, E11, R00, R20

The rest – B00, B39, B93, B95, B97, E15, E43, E50, E57, E81, R02, R05, R17, R27, R59, Y21, Y28

The papers are from the FQB Aye Aye Captain collection from the awesome Nitwits :)

Picture 004 copy

I’m back with Set 24 again – I really do love this set of tags and the possibilities to mix and match are endless.

You can clearly see in this close up that my small hole punch is in dire need of sharpening – doh!!!!

Picture 005 copy

I’ve been at the kraft card again :)

I’ve also been at the Magnolia leaf and swirl die again too!!

Picture 002 copy

Picture 003 copy

So that’s the old card done.

I have had a few probs with the old puter again today. Last night I went to shut down the pc and this message flashed up to let me know that I had a lot of spyware on the pc. It even listed the folders where this and all the nasty worms were supposed to be, along with links etc to remove them. Well it all looked very genuine  and there was even a McAfee type icon but something stopped me from clicking. I checked it out out this morning with out IT boys and it seems that it was indeedy a fake!! I would probably have wiped my computer had I clicked. I spend a lot of today running all types of diagnostics on here and thankfully it was all clean but my day has been disrupted thanks to whichever the half wit came up with that lil beauty!!! Anyway, I hope your fingers go mouldy and drop off you stoopid twerp, whoever you are!!!!

What is it with these morons – they clearly have a brain cell or two between their ears so why not use it for good purposes rather than to cause people like us who are minding their own business a whole heap of probs. I do run Malware software and anti virus scans regularly so I’ve now added a couple more anti this that and the other software as well. Paranoid perhaps but better that than no pc.

Vent over and breathe!!!

Right here’s a little sneakie peekie-poo of what’s appearing tomoz …..

sneakpeek

… can ya tell what it is yet!!!
So cos I’ve had a bit of a wasted sort of day, I’ve been a bit self indulgent with this week’s Blast From The Past. Not THAT long ago this one but one of my fave bands even though 'I’m probably wayy tooo old to like them really (not that I care about such trivialities cos they are fab). But I’d forgotten how much I love this track and then we were at a wedding a few weeks ago and this came on. My very pregnant Emma, who had not been drinking (of course) and had sat there very serenely all night with her lemonade bless her,  could contain herself no longer and up she got and was bopping away to it. We all thought that she would go into labour for sure  the next day but she didn’t. But it was less than a week later when she gave birth.
If you have good speakers on your pc, crank them up and sit back and listen to this. There is the official video version which is quite good, but I chose this one cos Jools at the beginning looks like he’s been sniffing the cork on the old vino – a trifle under the influence methinks but it’s quite funny, as is Al Murray’s Hootenanny!!!.
So enjoy and I’ll see ya tomorrow. Hugs to all xxx

Thursday, 24 May 2012

Ohhh It’s All Going On - Including A Jumper Update:)

Picture 012 copy

Morning lovely peeps and I hope that you are all OK today :)

So there’s a few things going on here today - my card, a BFTP, a birdie pic  and also a jumper update.

So I’ll start with the card first :)

Over at the Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge this week our theme is

Anything But A Square

so time to dig out the shaped cards or maybe make one of your own.

The prize for one lucky winner this week is 2 stamps of your choice from the Lili Of The Valley website.

Picture 007 copy

So this is what I did and I made the base card by putting the edge of the round nestie over the fold of the card to make the hinge, running it through the Grand Calibur then chopping some of the bottom off!!

I quite like how it came out :)

The image is Close Your Eyes and I coloured it with these Copics -

Skin – E000, E00, E11, E21, R00, R20

Hair – E25, E29, E33, E43, E50, E81

The rest – C00, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C7, G99, R02, R05, R17, R27, R59, YG0000, YG01, YG03

I also added some pencilling detail with polychromos pencils. Sorry but I have no clue where the paper is from peeps – it was in my bits and bobs box but it’s just plain old black and white gingham.

Picture 010 copy

Nowt plain about this die though …..

*Memory Box CHERISH BORDER Craft DIE 98282

It’s a Memory Box Cherish Border die from Simon Says Stamp and I just added a bit of good old Pritt Stick to the back of it and stuck it straight down onto the card base. The sentiment is from the LOTV  Set 24 tags and the little hearts were the bits that were left from the border die.

It seemed a shame to chuck them out!!!

Picture 011 copy

The bow is made from some red 25mm Red No 15 Large Spot satin ribbon from The Ribbon Girl and the pins were from my stash.

 Picture 008 copy

Picture 009 copy

So that’s the card done.

And now for a jumper update.

When I first did the appeal, I knew that you would help, cos I know that you are such lovely peeps but I wasn't expecting how this would catch on and the response has been totally amazing. I am just about to take my third lot to the lady  who is collecting them :) I did start off taking a pic of every single one that I received but there have been so many coming in that it would simply take too long so please forgive me re this.  But I am going to put a running total in the sidebar and I’ll update this so that you know how we’ve all done.  Hope this is OK and once again hugest of thanks to every single person who has either knitted or spread the word.

So are you ready for the latest up date peeps? Drum roll please …….

The grand total so far is ………

225

Can you believe that!!!

It’s awesome and I get a tear in my eye every time I think about this. There is a lot wrong in this world that we live in but things like this restore your faith in human nature and it serves to remind me that the majority of people are good and oh so kind. Major pats on the back to you all xxxx

Ok before we get to this weeks BFTP, I just wanted to share this pic of our latest hatching, awww. This is our first year with these little birds and the chicks are so tiny – about 4cm long and nearly half of that is it’s head.  It’s an American Kestrel which is smaller than the UK variety that we see hovering in our skies.

I have to say as well that Rich has quite small hands so you don’t really get the full impact in this pic of how tiny they really are. Nor are his hands sweaty as  they look here – unless he thinks I am off shopping with the credit card of course!!  He had in fact just washed them before he handled the chick – I had to say that cos I would hate you to think he was a minger lol!!!

Picture 001

I know only it’s Mother could love it right now but ….

draft_lens1821336module8985716photo_Kestrel_174

.. this is what it will look like when it grows up. A stunning little birdie I think.
OK nearly there peeps (thank God I hear you say!!)  and thanks for staying with me today in this loooooooooong post.
Time for another trip down memory lane and this week we really are going back in time  - this was first released in 1970 and jeez doesn’t that make you feel old!!!
I saw The Kinks a few years back in a small venue near here and I have to say that they were amazing. Of course when they started to sing this, the whole place errupted and everyone was singing and dancing. Fabulous!!!
So I’ll leave you with  Lola  (L O L A Lola)  and  and have a good day.
Huggiest of hugs to all xxx
