The Same But Different - but Still Verrrrry Cute Part 3 - Keeping it Simple :)

Hello lovelies and hope you are all OK today.

Well this is the last one of the trilogy!!
If you missed the other 2 you can see part 1 here and part 2 here.

So for my first card, I did a fancy layout with several papers and embellishments. For the second, I  used scrap papers and the  sentiment and embellishments.

Today, I'm still using the same Polkadoodles Butterfly Daisy paper, sentiment and image but I stripped it right back to basically just the one paper, image and sentiment.

And this ....

... is what I did.

Our sweet little hedgie was stamped using the Tim Holtz stamping platform and Tonic Studios Black Shadow hybrid ink. I also used Copics, but no pencils and glitter to ground him rather than the aqua shimmer pen.

I've put the images side by side here so you can see the difference ...

... and I'll grant you it's a very subtle difference.

But it's there.

I added polychromos pencils to the one on the left and there's more depth I think. Also, I used slightly warmer grey tones for the one on the left.

It's my personal preference to use the pencils on top of the pens when  I'm colouring.  I don't use them every time but I like the way they enhance the colouring.

And if you love the little hedgie but don't want to colour him yourself, you can get him all ready to go (see links at the bottom).

I think it's still pretty, even though it's a very simple layout.
I had a bit of a glitter fest here - you probably noticed.

The bow had to come back you'll notice.
But I'll give you a head's up re tomorrow's post.
It's black and white and a good match for my old gingham friend.

BUT  there is no ribbon whatsoever!!
I know, it's quite shocking lol.

So what did I learn from my little challenge?

Well, I learned that it's quite easy to get a few cards done with what is in front of you and staring you in the fizzog!!

I learned that the simplest of layouts can look nice - they don't all have to be fancy.

I learned not to chuck out strips of paper because you can get a nice card from them.

And I learned not to be so wasteful, both with time and also stash.

Will I do this again?
Yes I definitely will.

I am a beggar for either chucking stuff into my rooty-tooty scrap box and waiting until it's piled high then either giving it to our Thea who is a mini me when it comes to crafting - she has the bug for sure.  Or if not, I end up throwing it out, only to make room for the next lot which will no doubt share the same fate.

So I hope you enjoyed the last posts.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card - this is another one that I used what I had either in front of me or in the rooty-tooty scrap box - oh my life, it would seem that I am indeed a reformed character  :)

So I'll see you then - take care and stay safe and well and hugs to all xx

The Same But Different - but Still Verrrrry Cute Part 1 - And I've Been Colouring!!

Hello lovelies and hope you are all safe and well.

You know how it is - you see a card and you like it and you want to buy (or you do buy) the stuff to make it then you can't think of anything else to do with it.
We've all been there, right!!!

Well I know I have.

So it gave me an idea.

I was inking up this cute little Polkadoodles Fuzzypuffs hedgie and dragging the Copics out of retirement, poor things, and I was looking at what I had on my desk (including the bits of paper I had chopped off of the 6x6 pieces from the pad) and I thought I'd try to make up 3 different things just from what was in front of me, plus bits and bobs I had in my stash.

Just to see if I could.

And those things were -

         Fess up time.
There was once more thing I used but it wasn't on my desk to start with - more in a tick!!   And I'll add my affiliate links to the products I used at the end, in case you want a little moochie!!

So that's what I had and this is the first thing  I did -

Isn't he sweet!!

So I used the stamping dynamic duo that are my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform and my Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid Ink.

It's fool proof, I kid you not.
And then I brought him to life him with Copics and Polychromos pencils (it's been such a loooong time lol).

I really enjoyed colouring him and he's ever so easy to do.
But if colouring isn't your thing, and it isn't for everybody, then there's good news because he is available as a pre-coloured digi download and the link for that is at the end.

I added a bit of dimension by cutting the butterfly out twice.
And of course, I had to add a gingham bow because I just cannot help myself at times!!

You can't really see it in the pics but I went over parts of the paper with an Aqua Shimmer pen. It's such a pretty effect and quick is not the word!!

You can just about see it on the flower at the bottom of the pic. If  you haven't got one of these bad boys, honestly, you should try them.  I also went around the image with it - it hides a multitude of sins :)

Now here's why I had to fess up .... oh dear!!
So you see the little glittery bees?

Weeeell I had a mishap.

They weren't originally there and neither were the pink gingham mats on each side.

But some clumsy oaf (I wonder who!!) added some black Nuvo drops to finish it off and then put her fingers in them and smudged them.

It was looking fab as well, cry cry.
So I had to add those side panels to cover up the mess.

Then I thought it looked a bit bare. And speaking of bare, I had a bit of a eureka moment because I remembered that there was a little bee that would double as a butterfly in the Beary Cute Great Outdoors Critter Die set.

Saved by the bee, and they are sooo cute!!

So tomorrow, I'll share a card which I made using basically the bits of paper I'd chopped off. They're the bits you'd usually chuck in the bin. But I stopped myself just in time and I'm glad I did because I really liked the result I got.

So I'll see you tomorrow with that one, and then on Wednesday, I'll share the last one I did.

Stay safe and well and take care.
Huggiest of hugs xxx
