New Workshops Added....

...to my schedule for 2014!   Now then... on May 3rd and 4th I will be returning to my roots in Yorkshire and visiting Art From The Heart again.  Due to popular demand in the April weekend of classes, Ben has asked me to teach the Melt Art Master Class again... I know a few of you contacted me about this class as you were disappointed that you had missed out - the last one sold out in 22 minutes!  I love that you are all still excited about playing with your Melt Pots!  That is the Saturday class... making a canvas base which will then have loads of different Melt Art processes and techniques involved... and as ever, I will be sharing lots of hints and tips so you get the very best out of this little machine of magic!  Here's a sneaky peek of the Melt Art class...

On Sunday, Distress With A Bang will see us making an exploding box from scratch using... ohhhlallaaaa... Tim's brand new papers!  Add in tonnes of Distress - there will be different techniques... and Tim's stamps, stencils, Alterations dies, it will be a creation of layers and the result will be a vintage box to treasure.  Here's a sneaky peek at the Distress With A Bang! class... remember, this is going to be a class full of new products (which I haven't got my mitts on yet) so this sample is using older papers and stash.. but you will get the idea :O))

So, if you are in the North of England and fancy popping over to Art From The Heart to spend a day or even a weekend playing along with me... please CLICK HERE for all the booking details, I know the spaces are going quickly :O))   Am so excited to be going to Yorkshire, home of yours truly and... proper! northern! fish! & chips!  Nomnomnom!   That's all for now... I shall away, boxes to pack and stuff to do in readiness for my travels this week... Thanks for looking!  TTFN

A Splendid Time...

...cor blimey and thrice! Is it really a week ago since I headed "up north" for the weekend that was?  Anyways... again, apologies for not blogging regularly... been one of those months I thinks.  Here are a few pics I took at the Hels' On Tour - Middlebrough Weekend... And yes, I had my camera with me the whole time... and ermm.... forgot to get photo's.... I always do that!  Here's the room all set up and ready for Saturday's class...

And here are the lovely ladies in full flow, enjoying playing with all things Distressy....

And of course a group photo at the end of the weekend... none of us could believe the weekend had gone SO fast!

What kind of group photo would it be without the one where everyone is being daft? Well, here it is!  I made them all say "wicked willies" too... teehee...

And that is it! I know, how rubbish am I at remembering to get photo's!!!    And... hot off the press news... Sue and I are arranging another weekend of classes for Jan 26th & 27th 2014... if you are interested in joining us, please drop me an email :O))

I have been busy this week catching up on stuff and getting ready for the Melt Pot Tool Shed shows on Create & Craft on Sunday.  I will be on at 12pm - 2pm with all things Melt Pot-tery... and then again at 7pm for an hour with more Melt Art goodies... hope you can join me!  I shall away now... stuff to prep, samples to finish and all that!  Thanks for looking!  TTFN

Workshop Time...

...ahhh, I do love my job you know.  Today I shall be travelling to Wantage to The Stamp Attic to teach my Christmas Box class.  I have been having tonnes of fun with my Christmas stash... I think it is my most favourite theme of the year... yep, I loves Autumn with the colours and the leaves and Hallowe'en... but my heart is with the vintage side of Christmas crafting.  I totally "get" that some peeps want to do pink and purple for Christmas, me? I loves those deep reds and greens.  Anyways, here are a couple of pics of my class sample... I shall take lots of pics (camera is packed and ready *and this time I won't lose it lol*) because one of the most rewarding things about teaching a class is that this sample started life in my head and grew in the Room of Stash... and after a day teaching, even though the students have exactly the same stash to use, they are all so different... makes me smile biggly that does!

I ventured into town yesterday morning to go and see Mr Morrison's about getting some food for the cupboards and oh my word... it was bedlam in there!  I had to drive around for several yonks to find a parking space for Ferdy.  Anyways, my day was made when a lovely little old lady came up to me in the biscuit aisle (I was there for research purposes only of course *snort*) and asked... "please could you reach me down those biscuits?"   I looked up and there they were, top shelf... and bless her, she was smaller than me... so I reached up and got them for her.  Nothing marvellous about that right?  Wrong! Because... being a bit...erm... vertically challenged I am usually the one asking people to get stuff from top shelves (Noooooooo, not that kind of top shelf!!!!) and I once caused an argument between a chap and his lady when I nicely asked him if he could reach that last packet of Volly cases at the very back of the freezer... she stared daggers at me and when he walked back over to her she smacked him and said he had been flirting!  Akkkk, I am very careful whom I ask for help nowadays!

Anyways, I guess I should stop with the waffle and start with the snoozles because my bed is a-calling me.  Oooh, and before I go... do check back for the Sunday Stamper tomorrow... ohlalala, have I got a TREAT for you!!!  Oh yesh... I am busting with excitement... like seriously busting... and can't tell you even a smidgey little tidbit, I can't tell you that the Sunday Stamper has a very special sponsor... oh no, I shall keep that one under my hat... teehee.  The post tomorrow will be published at 5am so please don't panic if you haven't seen it at midnight... there is a reason.... teeeeehheeeee..... Thanks for looking, have a FAB day!  TTFN

Birds In The Barn...

... I had a wonderful weekend at Birds In The Barn in Essex. I love that shop - tis chockful of gorgeousness and owner Janet is a brilliant hostess. Over the two days I did two completely different classes. Both were fully booked - so hooge thank you's to all the lovely ladies who came along and got messy with me, especially as it was the hottest weekend we had this year!

Saturdays class was all about getting painty. You all know how totes inspired I am by the wonder that is Finnabair (click her name to see her art) Well, the class subject was a 9 x 12" canvas, lots of textures and layers applied and then painted over. And then came the decorations. This is my favest part... cos you all will have sussed by now that I do lurve metal embellies and of course, flowers.

Mixing the two together makes me very happy... add in the use of Dylusions sprays (yep, addicted to that Black Marble) and some Perfect Pearls Mist (Turquoise) to jazz up the Prima Flowers and I am positively ecstatic! I did a smidge of spritzing onto the canvas too just to tie the background to the embellies. Check out the ickle knife, fork & spoon... Janet has loads of these little goodies in the store - I just love how the fork was manipulated... I had, indeedily, a Uri Gellar moment lol

Anyways, these here pics are of my canvas. Strips of punched and die cut watercolour paper, strips of canvas, smidges of lace, tonnes of flowers and flashes of bling. Thank you to Janet for having me teach at her store again, we are getting our heads together to have another weekend before Xmas - as soon as we have the dates, I will pop them into the sidebar :O))

Right, I shall away... I have decided to take a day off today. I have a special date with a gorgeous hunky bloke (Grim) - he is taking me to the cinema to see The Sweeney (can't wait) and then maybes a little meal in Nando's (loooove Nando's, I am a "medium" girl... what about you? Hotter? Or milder? Grim always has a "hottest" he is a nutter lol) As ever, thanks for looking.... TTFN!

Curiously Wrapped...

...flipping flip and the flippers!!! Ok, so one minute it was Sunday and I was busy waffling on alarmingly at the lovely ladies who came to my class... and now it is Wednesday and I have the sum total of absolutely nothing done this week. Well, I say that... I have actually been busy trying to bring some semblance of order into the Room of Stash and I also found five mins to sit and get inky with the fab new Seasonal Distress Inks... and joining in with the Compendium of Curiosities II challenge. If you haven't seen this challenge before, you don't know what you are missing! Click HERE to be transported to the blog of the lovely Linda Ledbetter, all the deets are there... and of course, I must mention that the challenge is all about the techniques from the one and only Duke of Distress, Tim Holtz... Click HERE for his website.

So, my tag this week is mostly a concoction of the new Seasonal DI's. All the info on how I made it and what I used is HERE on The Stamp Attic blog. Now. Colours. Bright colours in fact. Do I like them? No. Do I use them? No. But... I am making an exception for these new colours in the Distress range cos they are rather lush. The Mowed Lawn was the one that I thought "ik, I no likey" But then I used it and...ahem... I LOVE it! The Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry are also lush... vivid without being eye scorchingly bright... I like that!

So, last weekend was my monthly classes at The Stamp Attic. When I got there I spied this tied to the back of my chair! How cute is that! Thank you to Wendy for my balloon, Jelly Babies (yes, I still have some left) and a fab apron. More pressies arrived from Caz (shallnt blog her pressie untiil she has blogged, tis worth waiting for though), she also got me two beautiful china mugs and spoons and the most deeeelish scented candle. Barbara arrived bearing gifts too... a lovely bag full of surprises... there were some rusty keys, some sari silk (lush) a banner kit and a bracelet kit. Not to mention the cake... oohlallaaaa, choccy cake from Caz for Saturday... A big big thank you to all the lovely ladies who came along to play with Studio 490 stash on Saturday!

And Sunday... Miriam brought another choccy cake and got me some gorgeous stamps... I was thoroughly spoiled!!! So, in fact, I had three birthdays... I could get used to this you know lol Another big big thank you to all the lovely ladies who joined me on Sunday to play with Distress.

Anyways... enough of my waffling, time for me to get a wiggle on and get inky again... well, after I have finished tidying the Room of Stash that is... Thanks for looking... TTFN!

Excitement...

... You know, at my age it doesn't really take a very lot to get me excited... and I have been ever so patiently waiting for this little beauty to arrive in the Room of Stash so I allowed myself a couple of celebratory squeaks and squeals. What it is? It is only the brand spanking new Studio 490 Scrapbook Organizer from Blossom Bucket. It is a birthday pressie from Grim and I am even happier that he has allowed me to have it now and not having to wait the next 30 days has made my life better (and he is because he won't have to listen to me whinging on about it being my birthday... very soon!)

When I got to The Stamp Attic yesterday morning it was there... waiting for me... and I had to really pull myself together to actually set things up instead of playing with it and ignoring all the lovely ladies who came along to get inky with me. So a big, big thank you to Wendy G for getting this in for me... and to Wendy V for designing it and just knowing that this is what all us crafters need. I was going to wait til WOYWW to show it off but... erm... I couldn't wait lol

As well as the excitement of the new storage, I also had a lovely, fun day so a big, big thank you to all the ladies who put up with my waffle all day. And... whilst I am saying thank you's, here's another big, big one to CazzyFifi and MiriamFifi who took care of drinks orders meaning that everyone got the right drink, with the right amount of tea in it and the right amount of milk. (I just cannot make tea!) And, finally... the piece-de-resistance of the day: Kate's Crumble. So, a few weeks ago I spies Kate and Wendy having a natter on yonder Facebook and they are on about this totes-amazeballs Apple Crumble that Kate had made for them. So, because I am a pig (self confessed even) I says "ooh can you make one when I come over next pretty pleasings?" And Kate said "yes". And... she did... oooohlllaaaa-chuffing-laaallaaaa. I would happily admit that I am a bit of a pudding conisuwer, I do love a nice pud. And I can honestly say, this is the bestest Apple Crumble I have ever tasted... just the right amount of apple and the perfection of the crumble topping... and the even thicker than normal cream.... nomnomnom. What makes it even better is that I ate it whilst crafting and standing up so it was actually into minus calories!

That there pic is of the ladies... you can tell by the look on Caz's face that she was ready for home rofl... bless her, she puts up with a lot....
Right then, I had better get myself moving, I have got a part finished tag I am making for tomorrow's blog post. Thanks for looking... TTFN

Wonderful Weekend

...cor blimey and thrice alive indeedily! I have just about calmed down after my fab weekend of classes at Birds in the Barn. Firstly, huge thanks to Janet & Karen for having me... and to Janet for putting me up and feeding me... and to all the lovely ladies who came along to play and get inky.. some were gluttons for punishment and came along on both days! Here are a few ickle piccies of the weekend... and because I am a complete numpty, I forgot to actually take photo's of the class samples... whoops!

Here's what was on the workshop door.. how cool is that!!!

And here are the lovely ladies on Saturday's class

And here's a cupcake that Karen's talented daughter made (nomnomnomnom)

And here's a piccie of the lovely ladies on Sunday's class...

And finally a couple of pics of the inside of the shop

That's me for today, I know, possibly the shortest post ever... I have a little bit of celebrating to go and do... Luton Town have just won their way into the play-off finals which hopefully will get them out of the Conference and back in the league (keeping everything X'd for that!) So, a trip to Wembley on May 20th is in store... yipyah! Thanks for looking... TTFN!

Curiously...

..Patina...erm...Patinad? Patinaed? Well, however it is supposed to be spelt... that is what I am today! Oh yesh, it is time for the Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge again. Hosted by the delightful Linda Ledbetter, all the deets on how to join in and what the theme is are HERE on her blog... and don't forget to hop over to see the guy whom this whole challenge is about... Tim Holtz... his website is HERE. This week we have turned to Page 58 in the book and are playing with Alcohol Inks... I shalln't go into the details etc on how to do this technique as it wouldn't be fair... Needless to say, this is the first time I have tried this technique and I am... in lurve! I expect to see it on everything I make from now on!

All the stashly goodies I made the tag with are detailed over on The Stamp Attic Blog... along with links to the website so you can click over to have a little spend if you fancy. **I am such an enabler lol** Right... I have to tell you all about my near death experience! I have just about calmed down and can now talk openly about it (ok, so I may be milking this a little but, for the first time, I am not exaggerating with this little story) So, I am driving back from my T'Pouch class on Sunday evening when I spy a storm in the distance... I even said to myself "cor that looks bad" Next thing, the car is being pelted by hailstones the size of baked beans... now, I didn't get out and measure them but... that is how big they looked on the road ahead of me.

Nothing deathly about a few little hailstones... no, true... however, the lightning that shot out of the sky and walloped into a 60ft conifer as I was just passing was very deathly... because said conifer literally exploded outwards, all the branches and the trunk were shooting over the road and clattering onto the car!!! (and... I wasn't in Ferdy, oh no, I was driving Grim's car, which is probably just as well because I tend to be a bit... ahem... slower in Grim's car) So, I managed to swerve (thank goodness nothing was coming the other way!) out of the way and carried on my journey for about 5 minutes, by which time I was shaking and in need of, ahem, nicotinely calming measures ... so I stopped in a lay-by and took several deep... erm... breaths!

Being as I had cheated death by seconds, I decided that it might be a good idea to milk the situation... so I spent most of yesterday either snoozling on the sofa or watching telly... I know, I know, I should have been unpacking my tote bag and putting my Room of Trash back into the tidy state it has become accustomed to but... I needed to rest... get over my ordeal and all that lol **yes, and any excuse to get out of cleaning the Room of Stash!**

In all seriousness though... it was chuffing scary.... I have driven through some manky weather in my time but never been as close to lightning as that... the boom that it made was literally instantaneous and the ground shook! Anyways... I am ok, alive and still waffling so it can't have affected me that much (don't groan and say worst luck lol)

Check out the pics... these are from my classes this weekend. Many thanks to Caz, Lewis, Yvonne, Jan and Sue for taking part in the Altered Book class on Saturday and to Wendy, Gayle, Judy, Tessa, Karen, Sue, Lewis and Caz for taking part in Sunday's T'Pouch class. I had a splendid time... oh and if you hop HERE, you can see the finished T'Pouches they all made... I forgot to get pics so good job Wendy was on the case!

Right... time for bed methinks... thanks for looking... TTFN!

Sunday Stamper - Week 202 - Summer In The City

Goooodly Morning Stampers and a very happy Sunday to you all. Many thanks for all the fabby entries to last weeks challenge... and hello to some newbie entrants too :O)) This week I am inspired by the weather! Well, the kind of weather that I wish we were having at the moment and not this rainy, cloudy and hailstormy stuff... no, I am wishing for some bright sunshiny days. So, the theme for this week is... SUMMER COLOURS. To join in with the challenge is simples: make a little something, it can be anything you like... add in some stamping and the theme and then hop on over here to leave me a comment with a link to the place you are showing your entry. If you haven't got a blog/Picassa/Flickr etc, you can enter on Facebook or by sending me an email with a piccie of your entry. The challenge will remain open until 21:oo Saturday 28th April 2012.

Front of T'Pouch

So... my entry is actually my class sample for today's workshop at The Stamp Attic. It is all about overloading tags... something that I lurve to do. I have made a T'Pouch for the tags to sit in... oh and if you are new to my blog and are wondering what a "T'Pouch" is... basically, about a year ago, I got all exciteable and decided that just a tag wasn't enough... and I wanted to carry on the piece I was making, giving it more space to add more embellishments and stamping... so I came up with the Pouch design. After yakking over a suggested name for said Pouch with a pal, he suggested the "T'Pouch" so it is a bit of a play on words like the 80's pop band T'Pau... and it kind of went from there!
Back of T'Pouch

If you fancy making your own T'Pouch, I did a tut a few months ago with all the measurements and pics etc... details of which are HERE for you to see. In keeping with my desire for sunny days and a bit of warmth on my old bones, I decided to make this sample using hot Distress Colours... namely Scattered Straw (heavenly with the following...) Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick Stains. The stamping is with Jet Black Archival and Snowcap Dabber and the stamps are all Tim Holtz collection apart from Photographer Guy - he is a Studio 490 stamp.

Front of Tag

I did some die-cutting using Alterations dies and Grungepaper and cardstock... and added some Idea-ology for embellishing the pieces. I am going to be making another one today in my class... so this time I will pick different colours (or, maybe because I am loving the hot colours, I will do another the same!)

Back of Tag

Tis time for my bed... I had a lovely busy day ripping and old book apart and cutting it (it didn't squeal lol) and getting messy with Gesso and sprays... I will blog pics tomorrow .. I have "my own back" to get on Wendy and Caz today.... they were snapping away with their cameras and I just know that there will be plenty of "Hels looking like a goof" pictures being bandied about... I need a bargaining tool... quick! LOL Right then, that's all for now... thanks for looking... have a fabby Sunday! TTFN

Leave That Hels....

...."you will hurt yourself" ... .says Grim, yesterday, when I was trying to drag an 8 foot tree root out of the garden... erm... yep, I hurt myself... I know, I know, all self inflicted and all that and I do like to think that I can still do things like that but... I can't... so, from now on I am taking on a more gentle roll.. .basically sitting there in the sunshine pointing at things lol

Anyways... I have been absent for far too long... basically there is no excuse apart from I have been recovering from the weekend (hectic but fun) and soaking up the sunshine. I even have a few more freckles... and no red bits this time! That there pic is the T'Pouch we made on Saturday morning... I forgot to take photo's of the other 3 projects... and left them up there so... er, whoops!!

The weekend of classes at Dawn Bibby's Design Studio were brilliant! A special thank you to all the lovely ladies who came to play... I think everyone enjoyed themselves and they all left with very inky fingers... the best way to be!

This post is punctated with pics from the Sunday classes... donut here had the camera on the desk all day Saturday and clean forgot to use it! I am going to have to start setting an alarm on my phone to remind me...

Speaking of reminding... I have been invited back to Dawn's place.. yay!!! The next classes are scheduled for May 26th - a whole day class and May 27th, a morning and afternoon class. I know a few of the places are already sold... and I will pop the booking deets into the sidebar if you would like to book a place.

So, apart from nearly busting a gut in the garden, this week has been a lazy one... no blogging, no inking... hardly any FB-ing... strangely enough, time seems to have whizzed past so fast, I thought that it was still Wednesday today and was going to do the whole WOYWW thingy and then realised I missed it... again!

Anyways... enough of my waffling... have you been enjoying the sunshine? And have you been queueing for hours to get some petrol? How ridiculous this situation is... I was trying to get into the Sainsbury's carpark earlier... it was blocked off by cars waiting to get into the petrol station... good job Ferdy isn't thirsty at the moment, I refuse to queue at the best of times... but to get overpriced fuel? Pah! Ohhh, I went all ranty lol I shall love ya and leave ya, I can smell my lasagne is just about ready to be snarfed.... I shall be back here tomorrow cos I am planning an inky evening.... thanks for looking... TTFN

PS.. if you just saw a blog post from me go up that is cos my laptop was just about to conk out and it published instead of saved... whooooops!!!

Going Up....

...North! In the morning that is... blimey, how fast has this weekend of workshops arrived eh? Well, in the morning I shall away to Lancashire to visit Dawn Bibby's Design Studio and take four classes over the weekend. Excited? Moi? You bet! **emits high pitched squeals** The first class is a T'Pouch with lashings of Distress... oh and some Alterations goodies... and a bit more Distress....

The second is more about how to use your stamps not just for basic black inking... adding in a couple of inky techniques for goodly measures too.

You should see the state of the Room of Stash... you would have a dicky-fit... I mean, really, how can one woman create such a mess in a few short hours? I have just packed up the last of the things I need... hey, I hope I don't forget anything... like the kits (had a baaaaad dream about that one last night... all those lovely ladies sitting expectantly and there was I going ... erm I forgot....) Anyways... enough of my wafflings... tis time for bed... Sorry I haven't been about much this week... still tough here Chez Sheridan and of course, there's the kitting that has been going on... thankfully my lovely Grim is a dab hand with a guillotine and has helped out heaps... there will be a big fat pint with his name on it when I get back :O)) There's a new Sunday Stamper theme starting Sunday too... I just have to remember to erm... type it up.... and make it!! Yikes!

Have a lovely weekend... TTFN!

With A Bauble & A Bang...

...cor blimey and thrice! I have had a fab weekend with the lovely ladies and chap who came to do my classes at The Stamp Attic. Saturday saw us revisit The Book of Advent that was so popular last year... and everyone had a grand time. Thank you's to Caz (she who makes the drinks all the time and is now a super star) Lew, Caz's son, bless him, he had to put up with me all day... and Heather. One of the ladies couldn't make it because she was poorly-sick... get well soon Sarah! Because I am a numpty, I took the photo's - oh yes, I remembered... and then promptly deleted them off the camera after thinking that I had already bunged them onto Lionel.. oopsiedaisies. Yesterday Laura came to the Exploding Box Class bearing gifts! Last year, if you remember, she knitted me a little woolly hare to go with my collection and this year she knitted me the cutest little hare egg-cosy... but... I decided to use him as a hair decoration... here he is, perched atop my barnet.....

Memo to Self - do roots before having photo taken

I did take pics yesterday too... that there one is of the class yesterday - many thanks to Miriam (who brought gorgeous biccies), Sue, Laura (who is sporting a fetching paper moustache) Thelma, Fred and Annette.

And... amazing or what... I actually grabbed a chance to take a piccie of Annette's Exploding Box before she left lol Here's the other pics too... note, mine isn't there because... errrrm, I didn't finish yesterdays and I am a donut (as well as a numpty) and left my sampler with Wendy... before I took pics of it... oppsiedaisies #2

Laura

Annette

Thelma

Miriam

Sue

I am sad now that this season's classes are over and done with ... there's something really satisfying about doing them... I love that every single person who comes along makes something that looks slightly different from my sampler... it is good to see all the different interpretations of it. Anyways... I will be starting up new classes in the New Year... I am probably going to wait until the end of February because I don't want to have to take Ferdy out in deep snow... I don't have a problem driving in the adverse weather... tis the others I worry about making journeys from all over the place. I just want to say another THANK YOU to Wendy for hosting the classes and allowing me to take over her workshop and make a mess everywhere :O)

I spent a couple of hours last night clearing out the Room of Stash... it had gone beyond normal untidiness and was rapidly descending into chaos. A couple of nights ago I had a slight mishap... namely, I dropped a FULL pot of Mica Flakes ALL over the place. And I mean... allllll over. Surprising where those little suckers can get to. Anyways, I went to bed, as you do... and hoped that the Vaccuuming Fairy would have visited during the night to tidy up... Nope, not a chance, so, last night, armed with the vac, I set about cleaning up. And now, I am sitting here feeling rather chuffed, it is amazing what a good clear out will do for the old Mojo... time to go and make it all messy again now! Thanks for looking ... TTFN!
