Video - Space:1999 - Ice Lolly advert

This does not strike me as the best snack food tie-in for Space: 1999. Maybe if there had been Eagle shaped cheetos?

Monster Cereal Monsters Re-Record the Monster Mash!

First - the Behind The Music style mini-doc explaining why the Monsters reunited for this special tune! (It's pretty funny.) And then the new version of the classic song! Perfect for the Halloween season.

Cereal Box Scary Records!

I was recently reminded of the odd 1970's phenomena of printing Halloween records on the back of cereal boxes. You would have to cut the square record off the box and then get it to lay flat enough on the turntable to play. As I remember it the little 45 sized freebies would often warp a bit making the entire process a little extra unnerving even if the stories were not all that scary. Would the needle stay in the groove long enough to hear the whole thing?  These were always fun little extras for the October season and they certainly worked to get me to beg mom for particular cereals even if I usually didn't care about that brand.

Here are a few of them available on YouTube!

Karloff's Guacamole!

Often, during the month of October, strange monster related things will be coughed up by the internet. Usually this means another "The Ten Best Horror Whatevers" list produced with little thought or genre knowledge as Halloween time click-bait for a website. But occasionally something worthy of attention shows up. This is one of those rare occasions. I present to you- Boris Karloff's recipe for guacamole!

See! I told you this was worth seeing! Who knew Karloff was such a fan of Mexican food? He and I were clearly brothers under the skin. Cause I love mexican food too. See? Yeah!

Seriously though- this is weird.

Monster Cereal time!

Its that time of year again when Fall has arrived, horror movies get watched by everyone and Monster Cereals are available in stores. For a few short weeks each year Boo Berry, Frankenberry and Count Chockula can be found on select shelves around the country and poor bastards like me have to fight the urge to eat an entire box in one sitting. Making things even more difficult for us Boo Berry-a-holics is the addition of this extremely cool artwork by Jason Edmiston in which the link to our beloved Universal Monsters is made stronger.

Nice! And if you're wondering if this was a one off by a guy uninterested in the subject just check out this---

Yeah- he's pretty awesome. The beauty of his monster art is so great it has distracted me from my usual whining about the two missing flavors of cereal I wish they would bring back. I'm not sure I ever got to really try them at all when I was a kid. What would Yummy Mummy taste like anyway?

Naschy birthday cake!

Naschycast listener Brad had a very 'Naschy' birthday celebration recently and sent along this photo of his cake. When I say he had a Naschy celebration I don't mean he turned into a werewolf and went on a killing rampage under the full moon. Instead he asked for and received a number of Euro-Trash bootleg movies most of which featured Senor Molina. Ya gotta love that! And you really gotta love his wife for indulging and sharing this request for bizarre movies. There are wonderful ladies out there folks and Brad seems to have found one. Happy belated birthday!

The first Fruit Brute TV commercial

The first attempt to add a fruit cereal to the General Mills Monster lineup. Sadly it only lasted a few years from the mid 70s to about 1983. We miss you Fruit Brute!

From 1973, Boo Berry makes his debut to a happy Saturday morning audience.
