Leedra's Delight Daylily

Nature created this new daylily in my yard about 6 or 7 years ago, so I named it Leedra's Delight. I think it is probably a mix between Leprechauns Wealth and Happy Returns, but since nature (the bees, I assume) took care of the creation I really don't know. I have divided it several times and given starts to friends. It starts blooming early and is still blooming with the last daylilies of the season. My daylilies are just about gone, but I still see new buds being set everyday.
I have 2 pages of daylily photographs on my website, to view them click here and here.

Daylily Marco

Not much to say about this one, just a macro of a daylily. And that I did not mean to post it, but forgot to change the date so it would post later in the week. Oh well, it is a beautiful day outside to go with this photo.

Mauna Loa Daylily

I am fairly certain this daylily's name is Mauna Loa. Don't be too critical if it is not, I have around 80 varieties now, so they get confusing sometimes. These were taken early summer.

As you know I LOVE macro photography. Just had to!

Tiger Swallowtail at the daylilies

These photographs were taken in my front yard earlier in the spring and summer.

The pale yellow daylily is Leedra's Delight that I have had several post about.

I had prepared these for post before I learned how to make them larger. On occasion I will still be posting this size until I have used all the photos I had previously prepared. Remember I am still on dialup so I probably have some preparation most of you don't have. All future preparations will be the larger versions.

Skipper on various flowers

There are so many Skippers. I have not tried to identify skippers yet. I might get to that this winter. Think the bottom 2 are different than the top 3, but not sure.

Delicate Design Daylily

Delicate Design came from Oakes Daylilies Festival in 2007. The name is sorta misleading, due to the height. This one is 28" tall. The blooms are gorgeous. Can't wait until this one gets thicker (more blooms).

Lavender Deal Daylily

Lavender Deal came from Oakes Daylilies Festival in 2005.
In the bottom photo the blooms look a totally different color. That is one of the characteristics of Lavender Deal. This post is for Teresa, she kept telling me she had a pink one blooming that I gave her. It ended out to be this one. She works days and she always sees it like the bottom photo. I work evenings and usually see it like the top 2 photos. The photo on the bottom was obviously taken on a weekend.
As you can tell by all the buds, this one is a great bloomer. How is that for a sales pitch?

Leprechauns Wealth Daylily

Here is Leprechauns Wealth. It is a little thing, the book says the blooms are 2 1/2 inches, and I think they are really that small. Leedra's Delight got the color from this as a ring. This one has not done as good with all the moving around, but it is suppose to be a rebloomer and I think it will come back in a few years. If we don't have to move it, yet again.

Leedra's Delight Daylily

As I said in the ealier post this one is possibly a cross between Leprechauns Wealth and Happy Returns. It started as a seedling in my yard about 6 years ago, when I had a lot less daylilies and I knew exactly where they were planted. The first year, no blooms, the 2nd year 1 or 2 blooms. Then it just took off, can't be stopped now.
It is an early bloomer and just keeps on blooming. You can see from the buds below it is a very strong bloomer. I need to check into how a person goes about registering a daylily but I haven't.

Condilla and Leedra's Delight daylilies

Well, Condilla (the bright one) came from Oakes Daylilies about 10 years ago. Before I was even going to the festival, for those great bargains.

The light colored one started as a seedling in my yard, and I call it Leedra's Delight. I think it is a cross between Happy Returns and Leprechauns Wealth, due to it's characteristics. But since the bees did the work I am not sure. It is a early bloomer and it just never stops. Daylilies are classified as rebloomers, and this one is, except I don't really see it pause. I have split it and given away to friends. It just comes back thick again. It keeps going like the little pink bunny. God at work again!

Eye-Yi-Yi Daylily

Eye-Yi-Yi catches your eye from all the way across the yard. You can see where this one got it's name. I also got it in 2006 at the Oakes Daylilies Festival.

Happy Birthday to my dear brother Tommy. Even though you don't like flowers, here's to you. I love you! I am even posting earlier than usual because I know how early you arrive in the office. Don't call me I still worked till midnight, I will call you when I get up. Does it make you feel old for Amanda to be 30?

Crimson Shadows Daylily

The red daylilies are so hard to keep up which they are. They all look so similiar to me. I think that is why I stay away from them to an extend. This one was the free one from the Oakes Daylilies Festival in 2006. I know the name, because it has not been moved. Once it is moved it will blend in with the rest of my red ones and I won't know it from the rest.
Happy Birthday to my neice Amanda. Can't believe it has been 30 years since you were that precious new life I held in my arms.

So Lovely Daylily

From a distance these 2 daylilies appear to be the same one. Notice the difference. The top one is 'So Lovely'. The bottom one was given to me and it seems like the name had Irish in it, but I don't remember it.

Dainty Eyes Daylily

Dainty EyesDaylily is from last year's visit to the Oakes Daylilies Festival. It has been a real good bloomer for me this year. They only get better each year.

Frances Joiner Daylily

Frances Joiner is one of my new daylilies, such a surprise to already have blooms. This is one of the 11 new varieties I got at Oakes Daylilies Festival in late June. You can tell by the lack of greenery this is in a new section of my daylily flower bed.
