We meet again, why not ?,
thanks to the annual initiative of Matxalen and its Advent calendar. As always,
it is an honour for me to participate and spread the love for miniatures and the
pleasure of handmade work.
Para este año he realizado con materiales de
reciclaje unas otomanas tipo puf. Curiosamente, he hecho este tutorial dos
veces. La primera con una tela de imitación ante, y borlones de hilo de colores.
Sin embargo, “afortunatamente” he perdido los cables de mi vieja Olimpus y no
puedo sacar las fotos, de modo que he tenido que volver a realizar el tutorial y
esta segunda vez ha sido una oportunidad para hacer un trabajo mucho mejor que
el primero.
For this year I made some pouffe-type ottomans with recycled
materials. Curiously enough, I have done this tutorial twice. The first with an
imitation suede fabric, and coloured tassels. However, "fortunately" I have lost
the cables of my old Olympus and I cannot take the photos, so I had to redo the
tutorial and this second time it was an opportunity to do a much better job than
the first time.
Para imitar el cuero, he pegado dos capas de papel de seda
aplicando cola con un pincel. Cuando ha secado, he arrugado el papel varias
veces y le he dado una mezcla de betún de Judea con una pizca de cera virgen por
ambos lados. Pasado un buen rato he eliminado el exceso con un disco de algodón.
He reservado una parte de este papel translúcido para después.
A un trozo de papel de estraza marrón le he dado la misma mezcla de betún y cera. Lo he limpiado y he pegado sobre él, el trozo del papel de seda translucido para que quedará opaco.
To imitate leather, I glued two layers of tissue paper by applying glue with a
brush. When it was dried, I crumpled the paper several times and applied a
mixture of Judean bitumen with a pinch of virgin wax on both sides. After a
while, I removed the excess with a cotton pad.
I reserved a portion of this translucent paper
for later.
I spread the same mixture of bitumen and
wax over a piece of brown butcher paper I cleaned it and pasted the piece of
translucent tissue paper to make it opaque.
He cortado tres discos de 3 cm de diámetro de cartón pluma y los he pegado entre sí. Con una lima de uñas he lijado las paredes laterales y le aplicado sobre betún para que no se vean partes blancas.
He ido pegando unas tiras del papel opaco de aproximadamente 1,5 cm. He cortado los sobrantes al ras.
I glued some strips of the opaque paper of approximately 1.5 cm. I've cut the leftovers flush.
Con una herramienta muy fina, he ido presionando muchas veces, imitando
las pequeñas puntadas en el cuero. Esta parte es muy importante, pues le va dar
al asiento todo su carácter tradicional.
With a very fine tool, I pressed many
times, imitating the small stitches in the leather. This part is very important,
as it will give the seat all its traditional character.
He cortado pequeños
triángulos y los he puesto en la parte superior e inferior, siempre con sus
diminutas puntadas.
I cut out small triangles and put them at the top and
bottom, always with their tiny stitches.
Para hacer el asiento, primero he
cortado un disco de 3 cm de diámetro y le he pegado el papel opaco. He dibujado
por detrás de otro disco de papel imitación cuero un diseño basado el un
polígono, y he ido pegando esas partes con sus respectivas costuras simuladas.
To make the seat, I first cut a 3 cm diameter disc and glued the opaque paper to
it. I drew behind another imitation leather paper disk a design based on a
polygon, and I glued the different parts with their simulated stitches.
Con el
papel imitación cuero translúcido, he realizado unos pompones de flecos y una
tira para tapar el borde del asiento.
With the translucent imitation leather
paper, I have made some tassels and a strip to cover the edge of the seat.
Las
otras dos otomanas, han quedado más grandes por estar hechas con una tela
bastante más gruesa que el papel. Si tenéis eso en cuenta, no os encontraréis
con la sorpresa de ver cómo se han deformado las proporciones iniciales de
vuestro proyecto.
The other two ottomans are larger because they are made with a
fabric that is much thicker than paper. If you take that into account, you will
not be surprised to see how the initial proportions of your project have been
deformed.

encantaría mantener este blog mucho más activo, pero la realidad se nos impone
con botas de dictadura y cada vez dedico más tiempo a informarme y menos a

miniaturas cuando me da por regresar a ellas. Mientras tanto cuidaros muchísimo

I would love to keep this
blog much more active, but the reality is imposing itself with the boots of
dictatorship and I prefer to spend more time informing myself and less time
evading from reality. You will not find me on Facebook because censorship
permeates everything and I am already out for more time than in, but on
Instagram, you can follow my miniatures when I want to return to them. In the
meantime, take great care of yourself and take advantage of mistakes and
difficulties.
