Farmhouse Style- Windmill Wall Decor Distressed with Tattered Angels & Tutorial

Do you love the farmhouse style? I sure do, but sometimes wall decor
can be pricey. I knew I really wanted a windmill wall art piece and
I knew I could create one. I gathered up supplies and my favorite colors
of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and got creating. Here is a simple tutorial
for you to follow along with me. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy.

Tutorial

Creating the pattern panels
I hand drew my own pattern, but there are patterns/coloring
pages to use online just pick one that you like.
Next I traced the pattern onto chipboard and cut it out (I did 7 panels).
Now glue the chipboard panels down onto tinfoil (yes you heard me right TINFOIL).
It's amazing what you can create with chipboard and tinfoil together.

Once you glue the chipboard to tinfoil cut around the chipboard
panel leaving a 1/4 inch boarder all around.
Wrap the tinfoil around the chipboard with glue.
Next I covered the back with piece of tinfoil to fit.

Dry Texture: Embossing

Grab your favorite embossing folder and carefully run the
chipboard panel through the embossing machine.
I had to run it through a couple of times to cover the whole panel
I love how tinfoil looks embossed.
Sand down the top of the chipboard panel after you emboss it, this will
help the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to stick to the tinfoil.

White wash the chipboard panels with Gesso or white paint.
(white wash-brush on paint and wipe it off with a baby wipe, etc.).

Tattered Angels Time

Now onto the FUN PART-Coloring with Tattered Angels
Glimmer Mist. Canvas Corp Brands has a ton of beautiful colors of Glimmer Mist
for you to choose from. Follow this link to the Canvas Corp Brands Shop, grab
your favorite color of Tattered Angels Glimmer mist

Coloring the Panels

I started by spraying the lightest color down first and worked out to the darkness.
Now it's a good idea to let the mist pool together and blend...dry in between the
layers of glimmer mist...you don't want mud color to happen.
I think I sprayed and painted with a brush to help move the color,
I used a heat tool and paper towel to dry and dab off the excess of color.
(I used many different colors of glimmer mist, you can use two or four colors. It's
really up to you and the look you are going for.)

Here is what the windmill panels look like once the glimmer mist
is dried. I just love the old time feel it gives using tinfoil.

The windmill blades needed more texture so I grabbed a few
embossing powders and I added a few layers over and over.
Sanded down the melted layers to take away the shine and
give tooth for the glimmer mist to hang onto.

Here is a photo of the back of the windmill to
help give depth on the canvas I added chipboard pieces
 around the windmill.

I created a backdrop onto a canvas using chipboard strips
cover with wood grain pattern papers. Distress edges with
Oxide Ink-Walnut Stain..glue down, off set the paper slats.
To give the faux wood grain look to the background.

After the windmill was attached to the canvas and hung
on the wall I could step back and see where the piece
needed more texture. I used Metallic-Rubs-ons colors brushed
onto with my fingers, highlighting the textures to help bring them out.

Loving the textures....

CCB 5x7 Card-Dressform with Chicken Wire & Tutorial

I'm featured on the Canvas Corp Brands Blog today,
sharing my 5x7 Card created with Tattered Angels, 7Gypsies and Canvas Corp products.

Here is a 5x7 card using the 7 Gypsies Architextures-Market Signs card stock
which I used the flip side with beautiful wood grain floral patterns on it.
This card was a work of  "love" with a few cool
techniques and tricks. I will share how I took Canvas Corp Chicken Wire Card stock
to create my own embellishment.
How I dressed up a dress form die cut with CCB Flute paper.
So let's dive in....

Creating your own chicken wire embellishments
(which I have video sharing these steps, below).
I used Canvas Corp Black & Ivory Chicken Wire Card stock, fussy cut out
a section of the pattern. Dabbed on Versa Mark embossing ink
and embossing powders to create depth and tooth for the Tattered Angels glimmer mist
to grab onto. It's all about layers and more layers....
Picture below show the finished embellishment I glued
old book paper and netting behind the embossed chicken wire piece
for an added layer on the card front.

Here is the video sharing this technique.....

Here is a close up photo of the added textures of lace, netting, buttons
along with a 7 Gypsies antique brass pin and LOVE charm.
Oh can you see the texture on the embossed embellishment....love the weathered look.

Here is part two of adding Tattered Angels glimmer mist...

Part 2
CCB Chicken Wire Cardstock to Embellishment

Let's chat about the dressform die cut piece, I die cut out the dressform many times
in different papers to create layers. First layer chipboard, then Tattered Angels
Mixed Media Origins-Nature and the top layer is Canvas Corp Flute paper-white. I distressed  the edges with Tattered Angels glimmer mist-Graphite, adorable!

"Love Wishes" Valentine Card & Envelope & Tutorial in Canvas Corp Brands Style

Oh I am so thrilled to finally share that I am part of amazing team for
Canvas Corp Brands....you will see more about this coming up soon!

But while we wait for this...how about a challenge?
We have a Crew Challenge-Valentine Card with a story, see more details
over on the Canvas Corp Brands Blog, here.

Here is my
 Crew Challenge-Valentine Card & Envelope.

"Love Wishes"

Part of the challenge was to share a story about who we were going to give our Valentine to.

My story is this...

As I sat at my creative table looking at the blank Canvas Corp Kraft Card & Envelope, tapping my finger my eyes happen to glance down to the tote filled with amazing products from Canvas Corp Brands...my eye spied popping "RED" burlap sheet! I said that's it!!!
I knew I wanted the pop of "RED" with Kraft was made for each other.
It all started rolling..as I was aging the Kraft tag, and distressing the edges of the hearts...My hubby walked by and says oh my that is so cool and pretty.
I love it when he does this! I always enjoy creating something for him right out in the open with him walking by making cute remarks. Like how he loves this or that and for this card he was so taking in by the pop of red with the black and Kraft. He is my biggest fan and loves what I design and create.

He is My Valentine!

The "Love Wishes" banner was such a fun idea...I didn't have alot of Valentine papers...but I did have the new Canvas Corps "His & Hers" Wedding paper. I fussy cut the words, distressed the edges, added to a piece of Kraft scrap. Adorn it with my favorite Vintage Mother of Pearl Buttons adhered down over the stack of hearts. LOVE IT!

Part of our Challenge was to decorate our envelopes as well...I knew I wasn't
mailing my card, so I created a mini sample of my card.
I found the word 'LOVE" in one of the Canvas Corp printed papers and cut out
a tag top (around that word)...added more colored seam binding..adorn with button.

I love the riches in the color tones of this card.

Easy Tutorial
I didn't have any ribbon to match my burlap heart...so I colored my own.

Step 1. To pick out the right Tattered Angels Glimmer mist.
I choose "Red Chillies" sprayed on
seam binding in cream..it's that easy!

Step 2. Crinkling the colored seam binding in your hand (I use a paper towel)
to help soak up any extra glimmer mist. And rub your hands together
fast which helps to wrinkle (crinkles) the binding...for a vintage feel.

I die cut the heart out...to match the seam binding I sprayed the
burlap heart with the same mist.

Step 4. Let's not let the mist go to waste....I dragged the burlap
heart through the glimmer mist on my mat.

Gives great depth and texture to the burlap heart.

Here is a close up of the colored seam binding...I love using
glimmer mist to help match my scrapbooking papers and cards.

What's awesome is yes I will be giving this to my hubby, I will
be able to gaze upon this beauty all I want...
Thinking it will need a special place to sit in our home.

There is nothing better than a "handmade" card, give it a try I know it
will make someone smile and they will cherish it forever.

Clean and Simple Cards with Water Coloring Tutorial for Die~Namites!

Sharing with you all my clean and simple cards with water coloring tutorial....from the Die~Namites Blog,!
Be sure to jump over to the Die~Namites Blog for amazing creations from our Design Team....
Clean and Simple Cards
Who doesn't love the end of a work week, with busy schedules, etc.
It's Peggy Lee, here to share with you all. A simple card with water coloring tutorial!
I love to pile on many other products like (inks, gesso, fibers, stamps, etc.)
on my everyday cards, but
sometimes it's refreshing to make a clean and simple card.
That is actually what I have created here with just a hint of mixed media texture!

Shady Tree

 Water coloring Tutorial
Step 1. Die cut your Die~Namites Die,
I die cut the "Shady Tree" out of white card stock.

Step 2
. Using your inks or mist try your hand at water coloring with them.
I used my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist products....first I
used Tattered Leather glimmer mist.
Step 3. Dry in between each color of mist.
Step 4. Start with your lightness color, then keep coloring!
Tattered Angels Canary Chalkboard glimmer mist.
Next I used
Tattered Angels Chilli Pepper Red Simply Sheer.
Next I used
Tattered Angels Olive Vine glimmer mist.
Next I used
Ranger Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.
Next I used
Ranger Distress Stain Spiced Marmalade.
Then I used
Tattered Angels Graphite glimmer mist to
add splatters....to give the tree and leaves a
weathered worn feel.

There you have it so simple and fun to use your mists, inks and stains...
to water color your die cuts.
Here is a side view of the "Shady Tree" I popped the die cut
up with pop dots...to give the image depth.
I just love how this card came out....love faint stamping with the depth of the tree.
Oh and by far my favorite is the water coloring, it's so fun...
Why don't you try this technique out, I know you will love it!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy the fall season!
