BOW Blocks Done!

All 40 of my Women of the Bible blocks are finished!  Last Monday, part 1 of the finishing instructions were released including the setting blocks and top assembly.  Today, the pieced border instructions should be released!

I can't wait to finish up this top, I've been working on it for so long, but I've got a deadline quilt that must take priority.  Until then...

WOTB Update

***If you are here for the 2 Bags Full blog party, please visit my post "Grow Your Blog 2015 & Giveaway!"

Just a quick look at what just came down off of my design wall.  I'm still plugging away at my Women of the Bible blocks that are being offered as a free Block of the Week through the Hoppin' Bobbin Facebook page.
Women of the Bible:  blocks 1-22
I'm noticing that I need to incorporate a bit more of that burnt orange.  The few blocks that have orange in them are still looking a bit disconnected (row 2 blocks 2&6, row 3 block 1, & row 4 block 2).  Otherwise, I think I am happy with my very out of the box color combination!
Women of the Bible:  blocks 23-25
I played a little catch up this week, once the previous blocks came down off of the design wall, so now I'm caught up with block #s 23-25!  Today there are supposed to be 2 new patterns posted and then we'll get a break for next week.  This is a good time for those who are a bit behind to try to get up to date!

October Finishes!

Winding down another month and I have two more quilts completed.  I can't believe that in just 2 short months we'll be saying goodbye to 2014!

"Happily Ever After" began the month as a set of jewel blocks.  I set them together, floated with a white border and then a multicolored outer border.  I think it came out really cute, perfect for a couch cuddle quilt, so I gifted it to a friend's daughter on her wedding day!

Charming Stars has been my leader & ender project for the last couple of months while joining in with Terri's Treasures sew along.  I began with Moda's Odds & Ends charm pack and the brown tone on tone for the stars really brought everything together!

WIPs Today...

What works in progress do I have going on today?  Well...

1.  Blocks #10&11 are finished for the Women of the Bible Quilt Along.
2.  The top is all finished for Friends & Companions Quilt Along and ready to be quilted (after I get the backing pieced together).  I've already made the binding in anticipation of getting it done!
3.  No real progress had been made on the Thai quilt, but that's my piecing station project for the next couple of weeks.  I'm hoping to get it finished by the end of the month...fingers crossed!  It still needs 8 more blocks to be pieced...
4.  Charming Stars is now quilted and I'm currently stitching down the binding in the evenings while DH has the TV turned on.  It even has it's label and hanging sleeve on!  Am I the only person that puts a hanging sleeve onto everything just in case I ever want to hang it (BTW, I rarely ever hang anything - and I use the flat sleeve method instead of the folded quilt show variety).

Blocks of the week - this week...

And, here's the next update on my blocks of the week projects:  Friends & Companions (Marcus Brothers) and Women of the Bible (Hoppin' Bobbin).  Hope you're not tired of seeing them yet...and if you are, sorry, but it' my blog and I wanna keep track!  XOXOXO....
Friends & Companions - Block #6
This week, Nancy Rink, of Nancy Rink Designs shared her block for the Friends & Companions sew-along.  This is the 6th block and she's calling it "Plus Four."
Friends & Companions - Blocks #1-6

I'm still able to work completely out of my scrap basket, but this time my background got a little light.  I'll just have to find at least one more light background to spread the love!
Women of the Bible - Block #5 Hagar

And, this week's Women of the Bible pattern was a 10" Hard Time block to represent Hagar.  It's really fun to read the devotional section of these patterns to get a bit of Bibical refresher (and a small history lesson, too, sometimes).

What's on my design wall?

On the left side of my design wall today is Marcus Brothers' "Friends & Companions" Sew-Along and Hoppin' Bobbin's "Women of the Bible" Block of the Week.  The right side of the design wall is empty today because three quilts have been quilted this week and are currently undergoing the binding treatment!  Woohoo!

Blocks of the Week...

And, here's the next update on my 2 blocks of the week projects:  Friends & Companions (Marcus Brothers) and Women of the Bible (Hoppin' Bobbin).  Hope you're not tired of seeing them yet...
Friends & Companions - Block #5
This week, Gloria Parsons, of Olde Green Cupboard Designs shared her block for the Friends & Companions sew-along.
Friends & Companions: Blocks 1-5
I just loved making this basket block!  Isn't it cute???  And, yes, I'm still working completely out of my scrap basket!  I'm hoping that I can continue to do that until we get to the finishing instructions, but we'll see.
Women of the Bible - Block #4:  Noah's Wife
This week's Women of the Bible pattern was a 10" Storm Signal block to represent Noah's Wife.  Considering the size of that flood, I'd say a storm signal is about right!
Women of the Bible:  Blocks 1-4
Only 46 more weeks to go on this one!  Yep, we're just getting started!

Friends & Companions - Blocks 1-3

Anyone else still working on the Marcus Brothers "Friends & Companions" Sew-Along?
"Sarah's Block" Friends & Companions - Block #3
"Sarah's Block" is the third block pattern released by Sarah Maxwell at Homestead Hearth.  It was another great block to work on, and took much less time to cut out than the previous blocks (because it was all HSTs)!  Sarah's directions were simple, had great photos, and provided a really fun layout for such simply constructed units!
Friends & Companions - Blocks #1-3
So, here is my first row of blocks, all together, from weeks 1-3.  I can't wait to see what the remaining 6 weeks have in store (week 10 will be finishing instructions and the big reveal)!  I'm assuming they will be set in a 3x3 design, but maybe not, and...  Straight rows or on-point?  Sashings?  Borders?  What do you think?
