It's been a while since we've gotten a proper adventure game from the mind of Ron Gilbert (Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island), but the drought will soon be over. That's right, Double Fine's The Cave is about to make its way to Steam.
Double Fine announced today that The Cave is set for launch on January 23. It marks a return to Maniac Mansion-style adventure games, with a bit of a twist. Yes, you'll be choosing three characters to take into the depths and solve puzzles and the like, but it's also a bit of a platformer. Nothing too difficult, as it's staying true to its adventure game roots, but it's an interesting evolution of the genre. Plus, it's got the Gilbert name behind it, so you know it'll be funny. And occasionally frustrating as hell.
