Blog Hints at Alan Wake 2

PC News | Jun 3, 2012

Here I am, writing about another writer writing a blog as a fictional writer. It's almost enough to make my head hurt. Thankfully, the possibility of another Alan Wake game releases enough pleasure chemicals in my brain to not really care about the headache. Earlier today, Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake tweeted a seemingly innocuous link to a writer named Samantha's blog. Upon further inspection, it looks an awful lot like "Samantha" bought Alan's lake house from the first game and has been finding some of his writings. Spooky. Read More »

Alan Wake's American Nightmare Releases May 22

PC News | May 8, 2012

Well, isn't this interesting. On May 22, Alan Wake's American Nightmare will be released on both Steam and GOG. Preorder on either service and it will be 10% off, bringing the price down from $15 to $13.49. Seems to me that many folks would prefer the DRM-free version from GOG. That is, until they realize that Steam is offering get an additional 15% off if they own the original Alan Wake. To sweeten the deal even further, Alan Wake is 50% off on both platforms. Read More »

Alan Wake's American Nightmare Spotted on Steam

PC News | Apr 24, 2012

Played Alan Wake on PC yet? He's still in the sizable void that is my gaming backlog. If you could cease and desist for just a few weeks, game developers, I'd appreciate it. When I do finally get around to wielding a flashlight to combat the forces of darkness, it appears there will be even more Alan Wake waiting. The franchise's last DLC adventure, American Nightmare, has been spotted in that foreteller of gaming fortune, the Steam registry. Read More »

Remedy: A PC Version of Alan Wake's American Nightmare Is "On Our Minds"

PC News | Feb 21, 2012

Alan Wake's PC debut may have been almost two years late, but it certainly wasn't a dollar short. After less than 48 hours, A. Wake awoke to a full-on profit. So, that sizable chunk of change in mind, I asked Remedy what's next for gaming's favorite novelist/Flashlight Jedi, and here's what the developer told me. Read More »

Features

  • Intense psychological thriller: "Alan Wake" delivers a deeply psychological and finely crafted plot that raises the bar for storytelling in video games. The story of "Alan Wake" is propelled by a movie-like atmosphere, compelling situations, memorable characters and real-time pacing
  • Light as a combat element: As Wake journeys deeper into the mystery of Bright Falls, the shadows close in around him. When darkness descends, light becomes his only ally as he fights his way to daybreak. This poses a severe problem for Alan Wake since his enemies seemingly gain strength from the shadows, and before long, light itself becomes his greatest ally. Players must skillfully combine their use of light with more conventional weapons to stand a chance
  • Realistic, interactive environment: Set in the town of Bright Falls, the hyper-detailed environments of the Pacific Northwest play an important role; even the change in daylight and weather will profoundly affect the characters and enemies in "Alan Wake." The game's advanced rendering engine provides amazingly realistic environments that bring this world to detailed life — from the lush forest of evergreen trees to the quaint small-town buildings and streets. The world of "Alan Wake" is alive and real
  • Episodic narrative: The mission-based structure of "Alan Wake" creates an episodic narrative similar to a deeply structured dramatic television series, such as Twin Peak and X-Files. As the episodes progress, gameplay will evolve to introduce new elements and characters, escalating the level of threat and action in the game
  • Additional episodes included: Delve deeper into the mystery with two episodic add-ons: "The Signal" and "The Writer".
