Observing and/or shoutcasting Firefall PvP matches just got easier.
I see
Firefall as a PvE MMO shooter first, and a competitive PvP shooter a distant second. According to the developers at Red 5, it's time I readjusted my expectations. The studio has ambitious plans for Firefall as a competitive sci-fi shooter, plans exemplified by the just announced Firefall eSports Toolkit.
Featuring an Observer mode that allows users to view PvP matches through an assortment of cameras (including an auto-zoom Action Cam) and a Broadcast mode designed for shoutcasters (including replay controls), the eSports Toolkit will help users bring competitive Firefall matches to the masses.
"At Red 5 we feel that it's crucially important to eSports and pro players that developers make their games fun to watch and easy to follow," Red 5 CEO Mark Kern said in a statement. "This new eSports Toolkit provides an unprecedented set of tools that will help shoutcasters produce the best possible broadcasts of Firefall's elite competitive gameplay, thus improving the spectator's overall experience."
The eSports Toolkit will be on display at Gamescom next week and featured in the Firefall beta tournament hosted by the Electronic Sports League.
Smart move by Red 5, giving users the tools they need to help promote Firefall as an eSport. I think it's high-time I jumped into the Firefall beta for some PvP.
