Dark ARPG to feature big, challenging third act.
The 2012 loot jamboree isn't over just yet. There are still hordes of monsters to slay and pick clean in free-to-play indie action RPG
Path of Exile, which is set to enter open beta in December. And as developer
Grinding Gear Games just announced, it will offer plenty of high-level play hardcore ARPG fans love courtesy of a massive third Act.
Currently in public closed beta for all those who have supported its development, Path of Exile will take one more big step before adding Act 3 in the December open beta: the addition of PvP. No official release date for the PvP patch yet, but we expect to see it in under a month.
As for Act 3, Grinding Gear says it will deepen Path of Exile's lore and put players against those who exiled them in the first place.
"Act 3 adds an extra 50% of content to Path of Exile's world," Grinding Gear Games Producer Chris Wilson said in a statement. "Our already gritty game gets a lot darker as players explore Sarn and witness the full extent of the corruption and cataclysm. High-level characters will really enjoy some of the enemy encounters and combat challenges."
Of all the ARPG's we've seen thus far in 2012, Path of Exile appears to play closest to Diablo 2. It's deep and it's dark. Looking forward to seeing how it stacks up in December. If you don't want to wait, you can chip in to gain access to the closed beta at the official
Path of Exile website.
