With Activision-Blizzard's blessing, work on the mod formerly known as World of Starcraft continues, and today brings us a new gameplay trailer of Starcraft Universe in action.

Created by Ryan Winzen and a team of modders using the Starcraft II map editor, Starcraft Universe transforms Blizzard's RTS into an MMORPG. See it come to life below:

Winzen and his team describe what SCU is all about on the official Starcraft Universe forum, stating:
SCU's focus is recreating multiplayer raid battle experiences similar to World of Warcraft. Starcraft Universe will be released in a series of Starcraft 2 custom maps and published officially in Battle.net.

The objective of this game is to experience dungeon raiding in Starcraft 2. Raiding: A team of players creating/customizing their own hero character which they use to battle together through enemy forces and a powerful boss. These levels will be fun, exciting and very challenging.
The Starcraft Universe mod is expected to be available for download on Battle.net later this year, and Winzen and his team are expected to be in attendance at BlizzCon in October.

Sharkey says: Last we heard about SCU, Winzen et al were set to make another trip to Blizzard to show off their mod, indicating the game is taking a major step toward release on Battle.net. Hopefully we'll get to see it in action and learn more at BlizzCon.
