There's no sugar coating this one: Lost Planet 2 bombed. Envisioned as a blockbuster sequel by publisher Capcom, the pretty sci-fi shooter earned a Metacritic score of 63 for PC and shipped 1.5 million copies worldwide. Not bad, but nowhere near what Capcom banked on. But hey, you know what they say about third times, right? And so, with a new developer at the helm, Capcom is try, trying again with Lost Planet 3.

Revealed at Capcom's Captivate event, Lost Planet 3 is in the works at California-based Spark Unlimited (Legendary). Capcom says it will be a prequel to the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and be more narrative driven than the last two E.D.N. III adventures. Get a peek at the debut trailer below:
