One of the more interesting RPG titles currently in development is Obsidian's espionage affair, Alpha Protocol. Yesterday, the planned release date for the game got a rather troubling axe-kick to the side of the head and according to the official Sega site, went from "out now" to May 6th 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC, and "Spring 2010" for PlayStation 3.

Joystiq picked up on this fact and notes that Sega's PR team have yet to utter a solitary word as to the reasoning behind this big delay.
While Sega of America's public relations team still hasn't said one word regarding an increasingly inevitable delay, Sega of America's website has finally declared that Alpha Protocol will not begin its mission until 2010. The site displays the Xbox 360 and PC launches for May 6, 2010, while the PS3 version has been left at "Spring 2010."

This is a not-so-slight change from what the publisher's website showed this morning, when the release information stated the espionage RPG was "out now" -- a strange pronouncement for frustrated consumers, venting on developer Obsidian's forums, and retailers we'd spoken to.
We're expecting some form of official comment soon.

Put those guns away for another seven months, mmkay?

Bryn says: Are you, or rather, were you excited about this one? I'm on the fence honestly, but Obsidian's track record is not to be sniffed at. I can only assume that the game either needs a lot more work, or that Sega's not prepared to compete against some pretty stiff RPG competition (can you say Dragon Age: Origins?)
