Last week on Facebook, Bethesda asked fans to help it create a new character in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The result is a Dark Elf thief that makes the Dunmer from Oblivion look... (how can we politely state this?) dated.
In Facebook polls on The Elder Scrolls Facebook page, fans voted on race and playstyle of the new character, overwhelmingly selecting a Dark Elf (Nord came in a distant second) thief (warrior and mage weren't close). See the result below:
And while the Dark Elf thief strikes an imposing figure with his saw-toothed blades, the image best serves as a potent example of how character design has been elevated in Skyrim with Bethesda's all-new Creation Engine. See just how much things have improved by comparing a Dunmer from Oblivion:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in development for Windows PCs, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game is set for launch on November 11.
Our own Tom Chick went hands-on with the game at Gamescom last week. Check out his Skyrim preview for an inside look at the anticipated open-world RPG.
Spy Guy says: A Nord warrior was the second choice of Facebook voters -- odd given that exact character has been on full display in the game's trailers, screens, and Bethesda's demo. Regardless, the new Dunmer is vastly improved visually in Skyrim. Now to see how the Argonians, Khajiits, and Orcs look with their facelifts. Which character would you like to see most?
