Everyone's been running off to Solstheim, but I haven't gotten around to playing the Dragonborn paid DLC yet, because I've been entirely enamoured with a massive free quest mod called Wrymstooth. Up until today, Skyrim felt a little uneven. The Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard content packs were noticeably low resolution, while the rest of the world could take advantage of the official High Resolution Texture Pack that Bethesda had already put out. If there's one thing that Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls series isn't short on, it's lore. I mean, that's kind of in the series' name, so it would be a bit of an oversight if there wasn't a healthy dollop of history slowly congealing over the snow-flecked cheeks of its northern wastes. But out of all of that history, from the Falmer to the mysteriously disappeared Snow Elves, there's none that seem quite as interesting as the Dwemer, the closest thing The Elder Scrolls has ever come to dwarves. I travel to Whiterun for the Companions, Winterhold for the Mages, and Riften for the Thieves. Skyrim is loaded with things to do, but like all Elder Scrolls games, it's still largely defined by its factions. Oddly enough, it's the one area where mods have come up short... until now. I've often thought how much work it would take to fully voice every single NPC in a game as large as Skyrim. Obviously, it's something that is fairly out of the realm of possibility for most developers, even the mighty Bethesda.
