I like getting new gear as much as the next guy, but when there's not a whole lot to use it for other than getting more loot, I get a little bored. That's when PvP comes in handy. That's why, with Diablo 3's upcoming Patch 1.0.7, I will be returning to Blizzard's action-RPG. The huge update brings PvP arenas, as well as a ton of monster, item, and class tweaks.

PvP works like this: Players who want to get in on the action start up a game, head to New Tristram and talk to Nek the Brawler, who will lead them to the new PvP zones. There, they'll run around, whacking their buddies over the head with whatever weapons or spells they want until someone dies. As of right now, the arenas support up to four players in free-for-all combat, reflecting the removal of the team deathmatch mode Blizzard originally planned. Interestingly enough, death for Hardcore characters doesn't mean they disappear forever, which makes my dreams of some winner-take-all battling out of reach once again.

If you want to read the full list of updates, you can check out the Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.7 page right here, but I'll go ahead and highlight some of the upcoming stuff for you: There are a bunch of new crafting recipes, as well as a new gem tier in The Marquise. Monster Power is now enabled in Public Games, and Reflects Damage, Molten, and Plagued monster qualifiers have been tweaked slightly. The Wizard and Monk are both receiving buffs. If you're dying a lot, you won't have to wait longer to respawn with each death, and you can pick up items and gold from slightly further away. How's that for some rapid-fire summarizing?
